A-1 Party Rentals

Wow, this situation has gotten even worse. My friend went in to give them her credit card number and sort everything out, and I was assured all was well and that they would void my check and not cash it. My gut told me not to trust them because they seem so disorganized, and my gut was right. I should have gone and gotten that check back myself or asked my friend to do it, because they cashed it this morning. They’ve now been paid twice for the rental with no end in sight of this nightmare. All for some tables and chairs! I have no idea how I’ll get my money back at this point and I could not be more furious. Avoid this business at ALL COSTS.

Jay, the guy who owns/​runs this place along with the attached liquor store is… well… not the most honest of people? Needed a bunch of chairs/​tables for a party. Go down there, set the date 1 month in advance, call the day before and everything is fine… day of, he rented out the tables and chairs to someone else. Thanks jerk.

I recently used their service for a company party. Needless to say, I wasn’t totally impressed. The woman who ran the phones, however, did provide phenomenal service. She was always quick to call me back and make sure to listen to what i needed and they delivered on time (my location was only 10 minutes away from them) and when I needed them to come early to pick up the items, they accommodated my last minute request. All good.
It wasn’t a horrible experience, however, I wouldn’t use them again. Their local competitor in Pleasanton always provides a pleasant experience, has very nice looking equipment that is operable and goes above and beyond to make sure I am happy. Unfortunately they didn’t have the items I needed available for my event. I was hoping to get the same level of experience with A1– but they have a long way to go.

I had a terrible and frustrating experience with them. I am not sure how people can run business like this. Mine was a simple order of few chairs, round tables, few red linens and white linens. First of all. the woman who takes the calls is always in a hurry. does not bother to listen to you. I had exchanged atleast 6 – 7 emails because she does not give the right order inspite of me clearly explaining in the email. She says sorry I did not look at it and then the whole process repeats again.
So I had to walk to the store and give my order… by then I should have chosen somebody else (but the rentals did not have red linen). Ok! then they could not find home address… she calls me to my work phone which I never gave to her… Then the linens have holes in them and one was dusty that I have to clean that myself before I use. The table are so crappy… all worn out and scratches. Worst place… I will never recommend to anyone… They have delivery charge of 50 $ which is ridiculous… we live 4 miles away.

Stay Away!!! Rude and Unprofessional, they were 3 hours late to deliver chairs and a tent which by the way was dirty. They didnt tell us that they would have to use ugly 50 gallon water jugs to hold the tent down either. I tried calling the lady in charge she said she would call me back and I still haven’t recieved a call.

I had a very poor experience with this company and will not do business with them again.
I rented two tables and 20 chairs for a baby shower and should have known from my first contact with them that there would be trouble. First off, when I called to get pricing, their voicemail box was full. Moments later a woman calls back and says this is how they run things – they just see what number calls them and they call them back.? Anyway, I received competitive pricing and booked them to deliver the table/​chairs. The woman taking my order was so concerned with getting my credit card info (which she jotted down incorrectly because she was in such a hurry only to stall my order later when she went to run my card) that she rushed to get me off the phone as I was asking questions about pick-​up and drop-​off. This should have been a sign.
I was promised drop off on Friday between 9 – 5 (seriously? can’t do better than an 8 hour window?) only for them to call me at 12 and tell me they couldn’t run my credit card but that my order would be delivered «soon.» Then they called back at 3:30 to tell me that «hopefully the order would be delivered by 6:30 or so.» I’m sorry, no. When I told them that 5 o’clock was the cut-​off, I got unbelievable attitude and pretty much was hung up on. The delivery guy arrived at 5:15 with warped tables, no apology and told me they would call the next day to arrange pick up on either Sunday or Monday (despite being told in my original booking call that they’d come Sunday). Here it is Monday at 11:30 and I’ve received no call. I called them just now to see if anyone would pick up their tables/​chairs and the woman tells me «later on.» When I told her my yard was locked and I had to be here before they entered my property, the attitude resumed and I was told between 2 and 3.
Poor customer service, poor product, and poor experience. Very disappointing and unreliable company. If you value any of those things, don’t rent from these people.

Wow what a headache! I rented 150 chairs a week in advance of a Sunday afternoon event. They weren’t my first choice, but my first choice couldn’t do Sunday deliveries. The instructions were simple, 150 chairs delivered at 1pm and picked up at 6pm. I arrived at 12:45pm and they were almost done unloading because they’d gotten there early. The delivery people were speaking with the facility coordinator at the hall and were rude to her, saying that no they weren’t coming back today and were leaving. I assured her that I would call the office and clarify. When I called the person in the office said that they could do 6:30pm, I said that we had an agreement for 6pm and my staff and I would be leaving. They said 6:15pm so fine. Then as we’re setting up we realize they shorted us 25 chairs. So we only had 125. We had to scramble and piece together other chairs to make it work. Then sure enough come 6:30pm they still were not there and I had to leave. We left them stacked outside as I said we would if they hadn’t arrived. There was another event in the hall that evening and by the time it ended around 10pm the chairs were still there. The venue staff didn’t want to leave them unattended outside at night so they hauled them all back in then called me at 9am to ask when the chairs would be picked up. Then began lots of being put on hold and lied to. We were told that we only paid for 125 chairs, I said no I paid $ 150 for the chairs and $ 100 for the delivery. They said that they raised the price of the delivery to $ 125 so that’s why they didn’t give us all the chairs. Seriously? I said I have a voicemail confirming they would pick up at 6pm, they said no that’s not true. Then they claimed the chairs would be picked up and they would call us back by 1pm to confirm it was all done. By 2pm I called back having not heard from them, I was transferred around a few times, told the chairs were picked up at 6pm yesterday (which they clearly had not), I was not allowed to speak with a manager or owner, I was called a liar, I asked for a partial refund for all the trouble they put me through, they called me a liar again and hung up. Turns out the chairs were picked up Monday afternoon between 2−4pm. I would NEVER recommend this company.

I rented an 8ft table and 10 chairs from A1 Party rentals for Thanksgiving. I saw the 5 star reviews and got excited. When you arrive it’s like a liquor store/​party rental store which is fine but when I got home the table was literally falling apart and the wooden chairs were scratched up and falling apart as well. My brother had to literally screw the table together for me. This added so much unnecessary stress to my Thanksgiving, i was very disappointed. You can rent tables/​chairs for the same price at legit rental company instead of this place. This place is extremely unprofessional and I would never use them again.
