Fitness 2000

For anyone still battling the Fitness 2000 credit card scandal, there is a way to get your money back. We were long time customers of Fitness 2000, returning once after a hiatus. We had a couples membership for $ 35 a month. When we contacted Fitness 19, they said they were honoring all Fitness 2000 membership rates. However, we were so mad at Fitness 2000 that we did not want to continue with Fitness 19. We were able to successfully and quite easily go in and cancel.
However, we still had two months of charges (February and March) that we wanted back. Of course, Fitness 19 said there was nothing they could do. So we contacted our credit card company. The charges were made by Fitness 2000 which was closed as of January 29^th so the had no business charging customers. We won and got credit back for both months. If the charges were made by Fitness 19 we would not have won but apparently they did not cross over entirely yet so we were able to report these charges and get our money back.

I was thrilled about this place when I got a week free because of the convenience and the so called cheap price! However, they were shady as many did state. They advertised a membership fee of $ 15 on their website with no enrollment fee. But, if you want to sign up your total is going to be in the upwards of $ 85. This is supposed to include a transaction fee and processing! This is all a load of poo because fitness 19 offers deals with a cheaper membership and cheaper enrollment fee and what not.
Now that they are closed, it’s sad because many people did have a membership here and the business did not take care of their only customers. Instead, they gave their credit card info to another company in Pleasanton and on top of them started charging them more! I’m relieved that I did not sign up but feel bad for those who got ripped off!

This Fitness ²⁰⁰⁰⁄₁₉ situation is looking worse for members that do not want to join Fitness 19. I found this post on Fitness 19’s facebook page by a former Fitness 2000 member. It looks like terminating the Fitness 19 membership can get costly.
«They charged our credit cart $ 85. and we don’t even belong to it. Never have, never will. Our credit card number was given to them by fitness 2000 that we did belong to and that closed without notice. And to add to this thievery when we did belong to fitness 2000, our bill was only $ 27. a month.. . We will see you people in court for credit card theft, and fraud.»

Fitness 19 billed me too! I called and they said I needed to go in to cancel — I said I never signed up with you. So I waste my time go in to cancel a membership I DONT have and don’t want, then they say there is nothing they can do about the bill. Both business are crooks. Looks like another call to my credit card company. Lots of time and energy wasted for something I didn’t do.

Was a regular here, they shut down with 2 days notice and then charged my card the next month for dues. Very sad they closed and pretty disappointed they are trying to steal money from their once loyal customers.

They sold it to fitness19 and This location is closed on jan 29^th and they not even communicated to ongoing clients. That’s very unprofessional. All current clients redirected to fitness19, Pleasanton but we can go to any fitness19 location.

This gym was very close to our home and cheap. My daughter and I never really felt comfortable there it is now closed permanently and they sold all of the memberships to fitness 19 I spoke with the general manager Rich at fitness 19 in Pleasanton yesterday. He is very nice. the gym is much nicer and much cleaner. It is farther away from our home but we will make do. I am now interested in actually going to a nicer facility.

Today was the last open day at Fitness 2000.

False advertising and filthy. They advertise no enrollment fee, but instead call it 3 other charges. You pay for a key fob, you pay an annual fee and you pay a processing fee. They also have a sign that they have a jacuzzi and a sauna, but then there is another sign at the desk that one of them is down.

I have been a member for about 8 years now. I have made many friends here, mostly seniors like me. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff is helpful. I particularly enjoy the sauna and steam. I use the treadmill a lot. Even though some of the treadmills are new, I prefer the older model to run on (maybe because it tells me I burned more calories!). The gym is never crowded so pop in whenever you feel like it.

Been a member for 10+ years. Did quit for a year in the middle and didn’t have any issues quitting (no extra billing or complications). Equipment tends to work and there isn’t much of a line to get on equipment. Some of the cardio equipment is old and could use some work. VERY CHEAP.

Very shady business. Tried to sign up for membership and the Indian lady up front insisted I MUST give my credit card information (even though I only wanted to use the gym for a month). They also wanted to make a photocopy of my credit card. Hmmmm?
She said I just have to put my credit card info in the form and write on the side to not charge the card. But it stated clearly above the section, by filling out your credit card info you are agreeing to be charged monthly. Besides, I made it very clear I only want a one month membership and I’m willing to pay all the misc fees. So I asked her again, why do I have to fill this out if I’m canceling the membership after a month & NOT going to use my credit card here. She said something along the line of, yea we are going to charge your card when the fees are due. Wait what?!! Seriously?

Not going go into all the details but the management is dishonest and greedy, staff is unfriendly and poorly trained in basic features of the gym, equipment is poorly maintained which is ridiculous considering how hard they nickle and dime you at this place. Will be looking at other gyms to suit my fitness needs and cancelling as soon as that happens. May amend this review with more details after cancellation to avoid being punished in my cancellation process for my review.

My husband and I come here to train with David. We love it here! The gym has everything you need and there is always a machine, you never have to wait. The environment is very friendly and easy going. There is no competition here. If you are looking for a trainer, I highly suggest David. He is great! He helps you get into shape while making sure you are doing everything properly!

This place is horrible! I joined, and its an okay gym, nothing fancy but the place felt dirty and filthy. Then I cancelled my membership and filled out the required form. I didn’t keep a copy of it and several months later it turns out they were still charging my credit card and haven’t cancelled my membership. So when I tried to cancel it again they wanted me to pay the balance and they refuse to stop charging the monthly fee until its paid at zero. They call every month, I’ve had to tell my credit card company to block them from charging. I’ve written to them several times and the manager keeps saying that they will «investigate» and no one ever calls until the next month when they’re looking for their money.

I love this gym. It’s not your typical 24 hour type place. It’s not super fancy with all the latest fitness fads and you don’t walk in feeling automatically judged on your work out gear or how in shape you are. It’s a real community feeling in here. People are friendly a talkative. If at all you ever have a question about technique, form or just how to use a machine, there is always someone willing to help. There is plenty of free weights and spots through out the gym to set up a little circuit. Lots of cardio and a big aerobics room to use when there aren’t any classes. I’ve made some great friends here and have gotten in great shape doing it!

This is a good gym. One of the ONLY gyms remaining in Northern California that still have iron weights.
I have no complaints.
It’s small, but it technally has EVERYTHING you would need to get or stay in shape.
And for fairly cheap!

I used to go to this gym and really liked it. The people working there are very friendly and helpful. However, I’m not very happy that they keep calling me telling me I have a balance. I moved out of the area and have not been there since November last year. I let them know I am not longer interested in a membership there, I also sent them messages on their website. They keep calling me telling me I have a balance. Thank gosh they do not have my credit card information, or Im sure they would be charging me. What does one have to do to get them to get I cancelled my membership!

Love this gym and the general environment! The other patrons are friendly, kind, and serious about working out — like myself. If you’re looking for a place to wear a pound of makeup and get your flirt on, this is not the place for you. That’s one of my favorite things about this gym. No matter what time you go, you’ll be in good company with others who are excited and serious about fitness.
At times, the gym could use a little bit of cleaning (especially the mats in the weight room). What is cool about the cleanliness in the cardio area is that just about every patron there takes responsibility and cleans their own equipment after using it. Pretty awesome!
Most of the classes I have been to are fantastic. The exception to this is pilates — the instructor is a cardio fitness instructor trying to incorporate some stretching into circuit training activities. Not the best fit for someone who enjoys serious floor work and stretching in their pilates classes. Zumba, however, is one of my absolute favorite classes in the Bay Area!
Overall, this gym earns my whole-​hearted four stars for the atmosphere and company.

Can you give a negative star review. This place is dirty. Have you ever tried to take your kid to the daycare? Might as well tell your kids to play in a vat of spit and fecal matter. Yes, there was pee on the little toilet when I went into the room to check it out. That’s just disgusting.
If you ever have to cancel your membership — crap, you’re in for the long hall. I had to stop the gym due to a herniated disk problem and they told me to provide a medical note. After paying the «cancellation fee» 8 months ago they are still harassing me to pay funds. After finally going into the place and trying to talk to management (they’re hiding in the back room and refuse to come out and deal with crap), they called me to tell me they were «willing» to work with me and for another $ 87 they would zero my account balance. Talk about swindling?
Dirty, cheap and downright dishonest. Hmmm? No thanks! You get what you pay for. As for those who think it’s so clean, look again. The water the guy sprays on the machines to clean it is not anti-​bacterial cleaner … Think long and hard before you sweat and touch that equipment — or send your kids to the daycare center!
