Rarely open on time, frozen hash brown patty same as McD’s. Most of the servers are good food needs improvement.

Great food. Quick and friendly service. Very popular among locals and tourists. The parking lot is almost always full on the weekends. So arrive early if you don’t want to wait. The«spicy bowl» is my favorite item on the menu, but if you’re really hungry and want a variety of items, order«The Bridge». You won’t be disappointed. Not the largest or fanciest place in town, but definitely gives you a taste of a great home-cooked breakfast. If you’re in Dunedin, you can’t go wrong with this place.

If you like cold eggs, warm home fries and paper thin bacon nests like I do, then this is the place for you! The place was moderately busy, but 35 minutes for my breakfast to come out was a bit extreme. While I sat there waiting, I got bored, so I started to notice how filthy the place was. Not like roach and rodent filthy, but dirty in an «old and needs a makeover» kinda way. Dust accumulation on the wall decorations, dirt along the floorboards, cracked floor tiles caked up with food debris, menus on the table that were laminated over 10 years ago which have lost their lustrous shine from being wiped down with dirty rags over and over. You get the point. I thought to myself, «Wonder how their last health inspection went?» Opened up the What the Health app, and wasn’t surprised to see an unsatisfactory rating from Feb. 2016. Oh well. I’m hungry, and as La Chica’s sister says, «What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.» A real locals type of place though. Several people walked in and were greeted by first name. «Steve’s here!» one waitress yelled. Then, moments later, I heard another waitress greet a guy named George. I like the personal recognition at places, but they didn’t wait like I did as a first-timer. After two cups of coffee and an orange juice, my food arrives. It looks great at first glance, but wait, what is up with that super thin bacon? I picked up a piece and it just crumpled and flaked into several small pieces. It was like some cheap bacon my mom bought back in 1985. I took one bite, and that was enough. It just tasted like notebook paper dipped in bacon grease. So I moved on to the sausage. Ice cold and tasted like the piece of sausage McDonald’s serves with their«Big Breakfast.» One bite was enough of that too. How about the eggs? It’s tough to fuck up eggs, right? Wrong. They too were cold. Next up, the home fries, which had great flavor, but were luke warm. At this point, I was wondering how I waited so long and didn’t’ get a hot, fresh plate, but when I took a bite of my piping hot pancakes, it made sense. My food basically say around getting cold waiting for my pancakes, and I will say they were pretty tasty. I basically disregarded my entire meal and ate my pancakes. My suggestions for the owners. Update your décor; it’s not cute. Pull those pictures and laminated news articles down, clean them properly and put them in some new frames, or just get rid of them all together. Replace the flooring and those old ass Formica tables that have chipped up edges. Get rid of that refrigerator-sized 1989ATM machine in the corner that doesn’t work and donate it to the National ATM Museum. And lastly, fire the cook.

Nothing special. We have lived within walking distance to this place for almost 2 years and have never gone. Finally went today for breakfast. It was not busy but our server was not on the ball. Took forever to get my coffee refilled even after asking another server for it, who had attitude about it, then never brought it to me either. The food was below average .raw spinach over room temperature potatoes. My husbands eggs were overcooked as well. It wasnt worth waiting almost half an hour for. An obnoxious«regular«also made our visit irritating, but was promptly served and his order was taken before ours although we sat there waiting before he even came in. Too many other places to go to .we were hoping to make this a regular stop, being so close to us, but that’s not going happen. .

This is as my server said, «a hidden gem in Dunedin.» In business for 29 years, it’s the real deal if you’re looking for simple, home cooking like mom always made. Located just south of the Dunedin causeway this quaint covered bridge themed restaurant literally has pictures and artwork of every conceivable type of covered bridge covering their walls. For me, it brought back memories of visiting the Pennsylvania Dutch country with my family when I was a child in the sixties where we would travel across red colored covered bridges. On this my first visit on a Saturday morning I arrived around 7:30am just before the regular customers began to arrive. I had read in a previous post they serve corned beef hash, which I love and so my order also included grits, rye toast, an egg over easy and hot tea. All for sound $ 6. You can’t beat the affordable price and everything was delicious. I have cooked everyday from scratch for years so I can affirm the chef is talented and knows what he’s doing. I was told lunch and dinner specials are just as affordable. My server was friendly, as they all are as you get a real back home feel where neighbors know neighbors. That’s very welcomed in our hectic demanding we need everything now digital world. It’s great to see servers who really enjoy their jobs and are friendly and open to good conversation. A side note: bathrooms are not handicapped accessible.

Sitting in this family-friendly café your eyes are drawn to the myriad pieces of art covering the walls — all of them depicting a covered bridge of one sort or another, as painting, photo and art plate renderings. Hence the name. This is a neighborhood sit down. The food is nothing spectacular, but it is good. This is where you go for an inexpensive, filling, tasty meal when you just don’t feel like cooking. This outing was for breakfast, where there are early bird specials(until 11am daily) that take their more-than-reasonable prices even lower. As one of the specials was for scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, home fries and toast, I ordered mine with bacon — then added a side of sausage patties(links also available). Though it states two eggs, it seemed like three. They are not stingy with the bacon and the patties are the typical size. The rye toast was very good and came to the table already buttered(which I prefer). All-in-all, a pleasant and inexpensive breakfast, topped with coffee and water, which the waitress never get below half-full(which is appreciated).

We love this place it’s a local gem. Cheap breakfast with a simple menu. The waitresses are all super friendly and give great service. My only complaint is they should provide flavored coffee creamer again.

I live around the corner from this little diner and have been coming back for years. The food is really good diner food. The corned beef hash is homemade and exceptionally good. The best thing about this place, by far, is the pricing. It is beyond affordable. And you get even better pricing if you want breakfast and you get there before 11:00 am. The food isn’t fancy or inventive ~ and it isn’t meant to be. It is a small hole in the wall with decent food at low prices. On a sour note, don’t look down at the carpet, whatever you do. The carpet looks like there should be yellow police tape everywhere and chalk body outlines from a massacre. I’d hate to see it under a forensic light. That being said, everything else seems clean.

This has become a house favorite. My parents and I discovered this restaurant before my husband and I moved to Dunedin. We have never had a bad waitress and they’re always very helpful and hard working. The prices are great and the food is good. Highly recommended!

My family and I have ate here a few times. The place is very small inside so I wouldn’t recommend it for a large group. The food is very cheap so it is definitely affordable. I wasn’t blown away by the food when we’ve eaten hear but it wasn’t awful by any means.

Update 11÷16÷05 I’m moving it up to five stars because I believe this is a hidden gem in Pinellas County. I’ve been coming here for years and quite simply have great food at a low price. You just simply can’t beat it. I learned that they have a really small grill in back, so when it’s busy your order might take some time. But the friendly staff makes up for it. — — — — — — — - It’s been a a few years since my initial review, so I figured it’s time to update it. This is simply my favorite breakfast/lunch place in the Dunedin area. The reason I had originally given it three stars is because often times they would be so busy you’d wait almost 45m-1hr for your order. Since those days a few days, I haven’t come across that again. Also, they now accept credit/debit cards which is great since I usually don’t carry cash on me. The food is excellent, cheap and service is great. Definitely recommend the Covered Bridge.

What a neat little place. No it’s not 4 star dining, but it’s not meant to be. This little diner, tucked along alternate 19 is a sleeper, a place where you go because you’ve been going for 25 years. Where the regulars are known and the waitstaff automatically bring their drinks to the table. Where when it’s their birthday, the chef makes special pancakes for them! The food was simple, but good! I had a bacon/egg/cheese wrap, which was far larger than I expected. The husband had a double bacon cheese burger with fries. Also far larger than we expected. No, not fresh ground beef, probably those patties that they get from SYSCO, but still tasty. The staff was very friendly, very attentive. We weren’t even sure they were open today, but they were, until 2pm. Since we arrived at 1:15, they were more than accommodating to us. Our cups never went empty and the food came out –very– quickly. It certainly was fresh and delicious. I know that I’ll come back and try them for another meal.

Used to go here for breakfast on Sunday quite a bit but not again. A plate of eggs and grits shouldn’t take an hour. This is the second time.

Worst breakfast I’ve ever had in Dunedin. Belongs on the show«restaurant impossible». My food was inedible. Carpet on the floor was beyond disgusting. Servers were no better. Skip this place.

Two stars — the service, friendly attentive. I ordered the fisherman’s platter with coleslaw, French fries and green beans. The coleslaw was straight from a container, the green beans screamed for seasoning. The French fries were great. The seafood was all from frozen, cooked ok but also desperate for seasoning. The price of $ 7.95 was probably right for the quality. My husband has meatloaf and mashed potatoes — the meatloaf needed salt and the potatoes were instant and needed salt and more liquid. The sweet tea, spot on.

Well, Covered Bridge is a place we have been missing. I grew up with diners, living in N. Jersey, and this place is as close as you get! We went this afternoon, and missed out on the Homemade Corned Beef Hash, but, we will be back for it. Service was outstanding, granted it was 2 in the afternoon, most people are out and about, especially today. The meals were very reasonable for the cost, and the serving was more than adequate. We will be frequenting the Covered Bridge now, great diner in Dunedin!

This place is awesome. I ordered Shepherd’s Pie. Had leftovers for two more meals. My daughter got spaghetti with Italian sausage and same thing and it was great also. Highly recommend.
