ABC Rug & Carpet Clng Svce

My roommate and I had a really bad infestation of moths that caused significant damage to one of our handwoven wool rugs from Central Asia. An entire corner of the rug was ruined to what we believed was beyond repair. We spent weeks trying to abate the problem at home to no avail. After asking around, a friend recommended ABC Carpet. Below is our experience:
We called the ABC Carpet Store who gave us the number for their ABC Rug and Carpet Cleaning Service. We were worried that in their East Orange location they would be too far from Manhattan, but learned that they pick up and deliver throughout the entire New York Metropolitan area.
Upon our initial call, Deb, the receptionist forwarded our call to Michelle, who managed/​coordinated the entire process.
We explained the problem we were having with moths and that the rug was badly damaged. Michelle’s assurances and expert knowledge in dealing with these types of problems immediately put us at ease. It was clear that they knew exactly what to do and that they would do a great job.
The pick up and delivery team came to the house on a Saturday morning, moved all of the furniture, rolled up the rugs, put back the furniture and discarded our old rug pads.
In all we had six rugs removed, repaired, cleaned and returned. Each rug was hand woven, brought back from travels in Central Asia, Turkey, and Persia over the course of many decades.
The Central Asian rug was the most difficult job. It had 30 years of wear and extensive damage from moths. ABC could have repaired the damage, but the value of the rug was not such that formal repair was a good investment. Thus, we had them cut away the damaged section and create a new border. We would have had them repair the rug had it been a good investment and we are certain they would have done an exceptional job. It is important to note that we were given all of the information we needed by ABC to make the best decision for our needs and never felt coerced or forced to make a decision that wasn’t in our best interest. Michelle was extremely professional and we felt great about the decision we made to cut away the damage.
All of the rugs were delivered yesterday. They look even better than we expected. They were gone long enough for us to abate the moths in the apartment and the rugs themselves have no more larvae or eggs after the thorough cleaning process. They look gorgeous. For those who have a sensitivity to it, there are also no residual chemical odors. They feel better than they ever have before and they are in much better condition now than they have been in over 20 years.
One other thing to note, aside from cleaning, their team did a great deal of mending and repair work: borders, edging, bindings, fringe work, reinforced backings etc. This work is tedious and should only be trusted with the industry’s best. We again are extremely satisfied.
Though we hoped for it, we did not expect such an awesome transformation.
We are grateful for the care and concern of the entire staff who handled our needs. When you think of all of the characteristics that make a business great: people, pricing, process, performance, etc… This one has them all.
