Stone Surfaces

Poor Customer Service — I called them in to repair countertops which were installed a year ago. They came out looked at them, told me they could be fixed. Said they would be back the next morning to do the repair. I waited home half the day and they never showed up. I have not heard from them since. I am a repeat customer to Stone Surfaces. I have done 2 kitchens and 2 bathroom in the last year. Installs have gone well, but as far as maintenance they have been non-​responsive.

The good: they have product. You CAN find nice stone here. At a decent price.
The bad: you then have to deal with Mike. «The fabricator». The title suits him.
The ugly: He is… unreliable? overwhelmed? traumatized by all the complaints he’s had to deal with from all the customers he’s wronged? Honestly, I don’t know.
But… you’ve been warned.

I went to Michael at Stone Surfaces for all of my parents’ bathroom vanity tops, my fireplace hearth and surround, and my kitchen counters. We used a gorgeous Asian Statuary polished marble in my kitchen with beautiful built up edges, Pietra Cardoza limestone on my fireplace, and all of my vanity materials were done in various manmade quartzes. He even gave me all of my bathroom under mounted sinks for free! Michael was so attentive and spent so much time with me showing me the tons of materials they carry, and gave me samples that day, and an estimate off my plans in a very timely fashion. When the templaters came out to measure they were very professional and detailed, and I had all of my beautiful counters installed by another friendly crew just days later, each one fitting perfectly. They even had to level out the kitchen counters with shims because my cabinets were not perfectly level, and they took care and time in doing that, basically fixing my contractors mistake! The pricing was very fair compared to other quotes I had received initially when I was shopping around — and was even a little under the original estimate (since site measurements were a little different in the end than the plans had shown, which is typical I have learned through this renovation process.)
I am so happy I went with this company and would definitely recommend them and work with them again on any future projects!

BEWARE!!! These guys are criminals. They did a very poor job and when asked to fix it. They simply said, «No, we already got paid. Try someone else». Seriously, how does a company like this stay in business. They crooks! Please forward this to everyone you know.

THIS place is BUSY — And it seemed like everybody wanted a piece of Mike and if they couldn’t have him, they got upset about it. My first job (kitchen counters) with Stone Surfaces, I had Mike — the 2^nd job I had Annie. Both went off without a hitch and both times the finished product was absolutely beautiful!
I thought this place was only open to the building trade folks — and I learned it was only «to the trade» until they started taking retail customers at some point. Reading the negative reviews, I wonder if maybe these are the unfortunate but rare cases (which always seem to be the only people writing reviews) when they caught them during chaotic and busy times. The girls have always been sweet to me, as well as to the few family members I’ve brought them over the past few years. They’ve gone above and beyond for the people I know and myself.
«Almost hearing eyes roll through the phone» & blaming your fabricator for «a chip your contractor put in the edge & stains from your dish drainer» sounds like complaints from people who may be… well — you be the judge.
I wish I had a Stone Surfaces here in Cali to do the 2 houses I’m working on now… even though I don’t miss that Jersey weather.

Horrible Customer Service + Bait and Switch = TERRIBLE BUSINESS.
1^st time we dealt with them in person and met the owner Mike, he was very polite and thorough. We had been shopping around for a fabricator, but we weren’t ready in our renovation process for installation yet.
Called 1 Mos later once we were ready. We had less things in our project in terms of the amount of work needed. And yet the price stayed the same. I can understand if we still need to pay for the cost of the slab. BUT their manner of explaining the breakdown made NO SENSE. They kept changing what was included, what was not, and what they’d throw in for «free». And ABOVE ALL, they bait and switched us. Originally they said the quote was for the entire job and then they said that it only covered the Kitchen.
Front desk staff was extremely rude ESPECIALLY Vanessa. I could practically hear her eye rolling through the phone when I was asking her for a proper and clear breakdown. She is extremely unprofessional. I hope they keep her around so this guy continues to lose business.
When I asked her when would the next available template be? She responded, «UHH, No, No, No, No, No, we need signatures on a signed contract before we even do a template» That is absolutely NO WAY to talk to a potential customer.
Mike never returns a single phone call. He hides behind his terrible staff. And unfortunately is just a sleazy salesman who lies directly to your face.

We had gone to Stone Surfaces at the recommendation of our kitchen contractor. My wife and I had done quite a bit of looking on our own previously, and we were pretty well set on a quartz countertop. Mike showed us a number of examples, but also showed us some granite slabs, and explained the character of the different pieces. After taking us into the yard, we found a piece that we liked, and after our plan was finalized, I went back to the yard to discuss with Mike how the pieces should best be laid out for maximum impact. Extremely knowledgeable, and excellent customer service.
From the templating to the installation, all work was done in a first class manner, our new countertop and table are gorgeous, and we could not be happier.

Not very happy with this company. I had some issues after the install and they sent someone fairly quickly but when he came he was not able to do what needed to be done. He didm;t have the right equipment. He said someone would call me later to schedule the right person with the right equipment to come out and address my issues with some of the corners not being finished looking and a small chip that my contractor put in the edge, I also had some stains from my dish drainer that i couldn’t get out and wanted their advice on. I used what the manufacturer recommended but it didn’t really work. Anyway, they never called me so I had to call them the next day. That is real pet peeve of mine. How do people stay in business by NOT calling their customers back and trying to make sure they are happy? They finally scheduled me for December 4 even though I called over 3 weeks prior. Well they never showed up today. I called them and was placed on hold and no one ever picked up again. I think they are not very good at customer service. Once they have your money all the service goes out the window. I am not even that happy with my countertops which cost $ 4300. They are Caesarstone Quartz which is supposed to be stain resistant and very durable and I have NOT found that to be the case. I guess I have to live with it since they don’t seem intent on helping me. I would NOT recommend them to anyone looking to have work done. Too bad I had to learn the hard way. Shame on them.
