Island Spa & Sauna

Island Spa is doing a very nice job and I am happy to have this spa closer to home. King Spa is of course my comparison spot. everything is super clean and new. Staff is nice although lots of young kids with ok customer service. Wet sauna is NAKED only. Do not try yo get by this rule. It looks odd and the workers will tell correct you anyway. Enjoy it! Four jacuzzis and one steam room and sauna. In the co-​ed area, there are multiple dry saunas, TV room, food stand, shaved ice and bubble tea as well areas to sit and play games. My biggest complaint is that in the design, everything echoes in the dry saunas. It is super noisy and sound just bounces everywhere. I look forward to coming back many times.

Great sauna, staff are nice and helpful. It is best to watch their video at their website which will show you everything they have to offer.

At first, I didn’t want to post a review about this spa. Only because I didn’t want this wonderful gem to be discovered! But alas, I can’t help but sing its praises.
I come here all the time and it’s definitely worth the half an hour drive. A common complaint I see on here is that it’s too small or crowded. First, every time I’ve gone, it’s never crowded and sometimes, nearly empty (just how I like it). Second, this spa to me is spacious and clean and so so very serene. The décor is soothing and there’s plenty of places to lounge. Leather lazy boys, secret hang out pods, and lush leather chaises as far as the eye can see.
The staff is always always super friendly to me and the front desk people are helpful and funny. If you’re a first timer, have no fear, they’ll explain everything to you without making you feel like an idiot as some places do.
Lastly, the saunas and hot tubs are amazing. I do a little of everything when I go and I leave feeling like a bowl of jello. Not only that, the spa high lasts me at least a week. They also provide you with everything you need or could want. Fresh towels, tooth brushes, soaps, lotions, q-​tips, you name it, they have it.
I love this place. I probably could have just said that to begin with but at least now you know why I do. Love you Island Spa and Sauna! You’re pretty much my bae.

Came here with some girlfriends as a birthday treat. There’s so much you can do! Massages, different types of saunas, a sleeping room, an open area to lounge and watch movies on their big projector screen, facials, café, food court, and even small seating areas to chat or play small games. I can easily see how people can spend an entire day here.
We only did the massage. Me and my girlfriends all did different massages. I did a deep tissue massage. The masseuse really went all out for the deep tissue. I actually had to tell her to lighten the pressure a little bit because it was getting too rough for me. She also made me do some stretches which I thought was kinda weird. I was also worried because I wasn’t sure if I could bend that way. At one point she stretched my leg and I felt my foot touch the wall. My other friends said their massages were good, but they also had the stretching which made them feel weird as well. My masseuse also told me areas where she felt more tension and gave suggestions to help with the tension for future reference which I thought was helpful.
I would definitely come back to try out everything else the facility has to offer. Also check groupon for deals! They want you to sign up for the groupon deal before attending. My girlfriends and I had a hard time signing up the groupon deal for some reason. Luckily, the worker was nice and still gave us the groupon deal.

This place is just opened few months back but I’ve heard so much great things about it. Finally got a chance to go in for one of my girlfriend’s birthday. It was surely ladies day out and we had a blast! I spent almost the whole day there, some of my friends actually stayed from morning till midnight!
The place is clean, neat and very zen. Although we went on a weekend, it was busy but not crowded, not noisy that we couldn’t enjoy the facility. Clients are asked to be barefoot from the moment they check-​in, but no complaint here since the floor is sparkly clean and comfortably heated. Staff are all friendly and nice.
They have 4 pools with different temperatures: cold, warm, medium and hot. I couldn’t get stand long in the hot tub, it’s too hot for me. But all were nice and clean. We spent good hours in there just scrubbing, cleaning, soaping, and soaking! I felt sparkly when done! Lols … Then dry saunas! To die for! Not sure how many they have but a lot! And all with different temperatures, different herbs for different purposes.
The food? Yummies! They have juice bar and also like a food court areas with all Korean dishes priced reasonable. One particular dish that I’d recommend is the ginseng chicken congee. With the ginger, all herbal stuff … All blended well and just felt really refreshing to the body.
I would definitely coming back and try their massages which I heard are also spectacular! I’ll let you know how it goes!

Very clean facilities. Received a groupon to do the 30 min body scrub so I tried it out.
You have to arrive early to prep and soak in the single gender hot tub areas. Be prepared you have to shower and bath without clothes on. No bathing suits allowed. This is pretty common in Korean spa houses. Toiletries are provided from shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels and even a toothbrush and toothpaste. At first it may seem uncomfortable but its not so big of a deal since everyone else around you is sans clothing as well.
After you soak for minimum of 30 min you have an intense body scrub (separate charges for additional services). Its a pretty intense body scrub so if you are shy with your body I would not recommend it for you haha. I have never had one and I actually developed some bumps on my belly and chest area. I think it’d similar to a razor burn reaction but it doesn’t hurt or itch so I’m not too worried about it. My other family members who have gotten the scrub didn’t react this way so I’m guessing my skin is busy more sensitive.
Once that’s done you put on a «uniform» with a top and bottom that you wear into the co-​ed areas that are the different sauna rooms with different themes and heat temperatures (check out their website for full descriptions). These were nice and relaxing. There are also coach and recliners throughout for relaxing and socializing. There’s also a quiet napping room with thick mats to lay on.
Afterwards you can go back to the showers to rinse off and soak in the hot/​cold tubs again. The locker rooms provided also include hair dryers, hair products, cotton swabs, etc. You feel right at home with access to so much.
Men and women were present at the spa. I was surprised by the balance of the genders that were there.
Lastly, since we are Unilocalers! I would like to add that their good court area is actually really good. I would totally come here (if I could) just to eat! But unfortunately you have to be attending the spa as well to eat there. We ordered the glass noodles, tonkatsu, scallion pancake, and the tofu soup. All were as expected and delicious and freshly made. I would definitely eat here again.

This place is awesome. Went here with my girlfriend and my sister with a Groupon, $ 65 for a spa pass for the day with 30 minutes of spa service, you decide. I got the 30 minute Swedish massage while my girlfriend and sister got the body scrub. Place was packed when we were there on a Tuesday evening. It’s very modern, spacious, and clean.
This was our first time in any kind of spa and it definitely met all our expectations. We did all have to change into our uniforms (reminded me of Orange is the New Black…). I believe a lot of it is separated by genders. There were different baths as well, my girlfriend and I went to the herbal bath which was very hot, I came out looking like a lobster, to the very cold bath. There are others in between but we didn’t try those as there were other people in them. It was pretty cool.
No bathing suits or anything like that so. people are nakey everywhere. Lol.
Overall, awesome experience. Definitely taking my girlfriend back here for Valentine’s Day.

Just opened about 5 months ago and people are really talking about this place.
In my expert spa enthusiast opinion it’s better than King Spa. Not as big as Spa Castle and missing the Awesome jets in the bade pool but hey I’ll take what I can get.
I went on a weekday and they have after 8pm on wkend specials.
However I picked up plenty of groupons while this place was on groupon. It’s a great deal. $ 22 for entry is pretty fantastic deal. $ 65 including a 30 min scrub for anyday. While this place is pretty new, you can expect a very clean environment. Lots of staff around to guide any beginners of the Korean spa experience.
I haven’t had a chance to try their scrubs or massages yet. so will have to update this review once I do.
I did really enjoy the food at this place and it’s cheap. Also next door to this place is a HMART and a all you can eat Picnic Garden Korean Buffet!
Plenty of parking and lots of different sauna rooms. 4 different spa pools. You can get bubble tea and shaved ice. I also really like the small circle game areas, where you and your friends can hang out.
No bathing Suit or flip flops allowed and you have to wear a uniform but that’s typical of Korean spas. Make sure you shower before you get in the spa pools.
I saw some lady who tried to wear a bathing suit and no one wants your bacteria carrying bathing suit in the spa pool with them.
Plenty of shampoo, conditioner, body wash available and it’s pretty nice quality.

I’m a sauna guy. I’ve been to KingSpa, Castle Spa and now here. KINGSpa rules!
This place is new and clean, but it needs improvements for people who loves saunas.
For first timers — it’s a excellent spa.
For advanced and pro doers — KINGspa is where to be.
Island Spa is small, gets crowded fast, limited saunas. Limited food choices, only 3 side items and miso soup. Food service doesn’t open on time, dessert orders get messed up. Employees that are young and not well trained. Men’s spa area can get slippery — be careful. Hot tubs are rectangular in shape. Free Wifi is not very strong. Sleeping area is good, but too noisy outside. Too many people talking in the sauna areas, not good if u are trying to relax.

I was so excited to go there with my boyfriend. But when we got there, we realized we had to go separate ways because the saunas and Jacuzzis are separated by gender. It was a very disappointing moment. I wanted us to enjoy our first visit together. Then I was given this horrible, jail-​like uniform. (No bathing suit or flip flops allowed!) Boy I did not look like a woman. When we passed the Jacuzzis, we got to the saunas part, which is a common area (boys & girls). The saunas are very dry, as if you were sitting in a closed window car in the hottest day of summer. It’s not pleasant.
Also, I have to say it’s not the cleanest place comparing to other spas. The small area rugs were worn, and made you think tons of people have stepped on them.
There are hair in every corner you turn around. It makes you think, sooner or later you’ll get some kind of a fungi on your feet, because let’s be real, not all people are clean. Plus I don’t think this place catches up with the uncleanness of the place. The floor has foot marks everywhere.
Also, when I went to a small pool and moved my hand across water, I got thick black Asian hair on my hand! Just horrible experience overall, sorry but would not recommend it.

Spa experience was amazing. I feel so relaxed. The facility was clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. As I was leaving three hours later it was getting a little loud perfect time to leave.
Plenty of saunas, 175 degrees and lower. Clay, salt, mud, forest, and even a sleep room.
I slept in every station. 2 tv rooms with sofas to Lay on.
Plenty of recliners, cafes, soaking pools were also great. Especially the herbal jacuzzi, too hot for me just dipped myself for a few seconds. I ran back to the cold waterfall.
Didn’t realize I was there for 3 hrs. Found a diamond in the rough. My new escape for peace and tranquility. Definitely coming back.

I am a huge fan of King Spa and I was very excited to hear a similar spa was opening up much closer to home.
The facility is brand new and everything still sparkles and shines. The bath area is big and consists of 4 different baths with different temperatures and herbal infusions. I would recommend jumping back and forth from the really hot to the really cold. It sounds crazy, but trust me. The dry saunas look big on the outside but once you are inside you notice the saunas fit anywhere from 4 – 8 people each. The temperature is listed outside the saunas along with the health benefits of each.
Some downsides? There are not as many saunas here as there are at King Spa. I imagine the saunas get really crowded on a weekend. The saunas also are not noise canceling. In fact, the acoustics make everything louder. I heard all the noise of people talking outside the sauna from inside. Then, when walking outside it wasn’t even that loud. The sleeping room is also not as comfortable at King Spa. There are mats on the floor and the light in the room is so bright. Not a comfortable environment to sleep. My friends and I found another dark room tucked away in a corner with reclining chairs and a big screen TV but again, the chairs are not as comfortable as King Spa. I can easily fall asleep in a chair at King Spa but I did not sleep for one minute at Island Spa.
Overall Island Spa is great way to spend the day. If you live in or close to Central Jersey it is worth a visit. There are Groupon specials running often so be sure to check them out!

Ive been many times to spa Castle queens I’ve been to spa Castle 57 première in Manhattan many times and also frequent king sauna and spa– out of the three I prefer a king sauna however Island sauna is closer to me since I am in Brooklyn–
It’s very easy to get here and easy to park it’s exceptionally clean food was excellent the scrub that I had was excellent even better then at spa Castle
The women’s bathing area is beautiful and I love the fact that they have an herbal hot bath —
Everything is been primarily laid out on one floor so it’s exceptionally easy to find your way around–
A great and relaxing way to spend the day.

The place is new but small. The water was too hot. Food was ok, but NOT ENOUGH MEAT in the most dishes.

I’m making this review for my New York city fellows that don’t have car like me, then for every body else
I bought the $ 65 voucher on groupon (scrub/​admission.
The spa is at Edison New Jersey, so the train round trip is $ 26 from 34 street. The travel is about 1hour, then from the train to the spa there is two options take a cab for $ 5 or walk 20−25min.(regular walking 30)
When you get to the spa entrance a lady checked me in, and gave me shoes locker (right next to the front desk) and clothes locker (in the women’s locker room).& a uniform and a towel.
I went on a week day so it was not crowded.
I entered the locker room, there was a Korean lady at the women’s locker room desk (if that is even English)
She spoke pretty good English. We talk for a long time, she told me about upgrading my scrub to a massage/​scrub for an extra $ 35.
Anyway she was really nice. In the locker room you have to be fully nude. there is 2 sauna and 4 different jacuzzi/​pool (from cold to hot) and beach chairs and the scrub area and the sitting and standing bath.
Outside you need to were your uniform they have a lot of saunas, eating area, juice bar, tv rooms that are quite nice.
The bad part is that all those are on the same open floor so the smell of the food is pretty much every where.
I really like this place it’s new, cute and clean (except the odor of food.
The food is ok!
The sofa in the rest (tv) area are really comfortable.
Five stars for the scrub.
But i wouldn’t come back, it’s too far from New York so not convenient .(for me)
Oh and that french fries and fried fish lawwwwwddd

Just as good as King Spa up in Palisades Park. This area of rt27 gets bad congestion but the strip mall is easy enough to get to once you get around the train station traffic. In the men’s area there are plenty of showers (in the sitting and standing variety). The wet area has 3 hot tubs (mild/​medium/​hot) and a cold pool all of decent size — the cold pool could be a little bigger but you won’t be spending much time in that one! I really did not enjoy the constant waterfall of water into the four tubs; it was uncomfortably loud. Sauna and steam room were both pleasantly hot, but something with the benches in the sauna was off. They seemed extremely hot to the touch; too hot for the temperature of the room. My body scrub was a nice treat — it was better than I have had at King Spa.
The co-​ed areas were clean and beautifully furnished. It’s much more spacious than King Spa. Our bubble tea was just ok, not the best but not bad either. On the other hand our dinners were top notch. Beef bulgogi and spicy pork bulgogi were not quite as good as a stand alone restaurant, but totally worth the price and very filling. The wings were slamming — crispy, juicy, and full of flavor.

Spent almost the day here on my birthday with my wife. Needed some alone time away from the kids and some r&r. Got the GroupOn with 30 min session for $ 65, but ended up spending more!
The facility is not as big as others I’ve visited, but it was just right, especially without the weekend crowd; today is a Monday. When you get the extra session, make sure you make an appointment for your treatment. I opted for the deep tissue massage. My wife upgraded her massage to 60 min for $ 35 extra, and then we both got the body scrub for $ 65.
This place is clean. You remove your shoes at the entrance and put them into your own locker. Walk down a corridor to the men’s room where you’re greeted by an attendant. You tell him you’re doing the body scrub and massage, then you go to your locker, get undressed, and hop in the shower. There are shower stalls to the right and a sit down shower area to the left. The hot and cold tubs are just ahead. After my shower, I jump right into the 115 °F hot tub and wait for the attendant. He calls me over to the scrub area, which has 2 tables. The guy is very thorough. I could feel every inch of my body scrubbed down, rinsed and cleaned. He even gave me a good massage almost deep tissue. This was so worth it; even for 30 min.
Then up I go for the massage. You ever see those movies where a petite girl is massaging a guy by standing on top of him, well that’s what I got. Halfway in, the masseuse got right on top and starting walking all over my thighs then from my lower back to upper. It felt so good.
They have a juice and smoothie bar, and a separate food court that serves Korean food. We opted to stay for lunch, and got the bim bim bap, tofu paste soup and fried fish. Everything was good, especially the fried fish. 8 whole fish deep fried in a light batter served with bahn chan and rice for $ 7!
After the lunch, it was back in the hot tub and another hot shower.
I’ll definitely come back, and do the body scrub on my next b-​day.

I decided to take my sister somewhere for her engagement and wanted to do something relaxing I was skeptical at first but the reviews for the Island spa seemed very positive. My sister and I made our visit on Thursday the 22^nd upon arrival just walking in made us feel so special you could smell how clean and crisp the place was and we were greeted by the front staff as well as the spa director Tiffany.
Let me first point out they have many specials going on during the weekday or weekend and you can also find some deals on Groupon. We both had regular admission and a 30 minute massage treatment for 3 PM. The first thing we did was get escorted to our lockers where we just left shoes only and were given our set of keys. Tiffany was so sweet she asked us questions and told us a little bit about the spa and is very professional as she walked us to the main female locker room there we can find all the necessities we needed. We were explained the process and where we can go prior to our massage and given our jumpsuits to change into. you walk around barefoot but I believe you can bring socks if you wanted to wear your own.
Tiffany showed us the bathing area for women which was full nude you have to be very comfortable to be in that area I was but my sister wasn’t so we skipped it for this visit. There you can do a body scrub or enjoy steam room or sauna and or plenty of bathing areas or Jacuzzis.
We chose to go to our massage first and Tiffany took us upstairs and asked us if we prefer a male or female It was very relaxing up there although my sister said it was pretty loud because her room is by the stairs each room is not shut with the door it’s kind of just curtained off but you can hear some relaxing spa music and they do a very good job at getting into the areas that need work
After the massage we went downstairs and enjoyed all of the Saunas. Each room explains the degree and what it does for your body. it was a weekday it was not very crowded but we were told it does get crowded on the weekends and appointments are always necessary we are looking forward to coming back !

A few wrinkles to iron out since it’s new, but so far I really like it here! This is gonna be a long review, but if you’re new to the Korean spa experience I recommend reading it so you know what to expect.
I had a few scrubs over the years in a place that since shut down in Manhattan’s K-​town, but I absolutely went crazy in Seoul this past spring when I experienced jimjilbangs (Korean saunas/​baths, you pervs…) for the first time.
As of my last visit mid-​August, I was told they were awaiting permits to be open ²⁴⁄₇ like real jimjilbangs often are. So those sleeping rooms may be put to good use.
I like King quite a bit also, but this is much closer to my parent’s house and newer.
I’ve only been during the week, and $ 19 gave me all-​day access to the women’s baths (showers, multiple whirlpools, steam room, dry sauna) and the various saunas in the mixed public areas (where you have to wear your t-​shirt, shorts and no shoes uniform provided for the fee). The baths and locker room areas are VERY naked. It’s just not a big deal in Korea and no one cares that you’ve gone a week without shaving, that your boobs are saggy or about your cellulite. That means no swimsuits in the whirlpools.
Locker rooms and the whole spa in general are really well maintained and so clean.
I splurged with the scrub plus massage and hair wash my first visit. The services were really excellent (a Korean body scrub is done by hand with a rough mitt, you are naked and it’s VERY thorough — like even if you’re clean and exfoliate in the shower it gets ALL the dead skin), the massages here are more shiatsu (lots of kneading, squeezing and pressure points which can sometimes be uncomfortable if you’re used to the more stroke-​y typical Western Swedish massage) and a hair wash with a great scalp massage plus cucumber face pack made from freshly pureed cucumber.
Problem was the scheduling was a pain. We were told at the front desk there were scrubs available (middle of the day, middle of the week, not many people) then the woman in charge of the women’s bath area said 90 minutes wait, then it got pushed back another hour because a group that had appointments showed up 45 minutes late.
Had really quality foot massages twice. Half an hour sounds like a long time for a foot and leg massage, but you’ll probably want more. In the foot massage section there are also separate rooms for massages where you keep your uniform on during.
Food at the restaurant is decent, they do the Korean basics well. And you get free miso soup with your meal.
The saunas are wonderful, but unfortunately the least warm sauna (the one you’re encouraged to spend 20 – 30 minutes in) only has space for maybe 5 – 6 people, 3 large towels and foam pillows on the floor. At King it’s easily 6x larger. It’s helpful that all saunas have the temperature clearly displayed outside, since some can get incredibly hot.
I recommend maybe adding more water coolers. There’s one tucked away in the restaurant but behind a wall and another in the locker rooms. None are easily seen when you walk out of any of the multiple saunas.
Good juice bar with fresh juices and shaved ice, looking forward to trying a skin treatment since I love Korean beauty products too.
It might not be everyone’s ideal or what they’re used to, but if you learn a little more about it and give it a try you might really end up loving the experience as much as I do, and the people I’ve raved about it to love it!

Island Spa has finally opened after years of delaying. It was just as pleasureable as I expected to be. They have «early bird» promotion runs until the end of July, which is about $ 31 with tax included of the admission fee. Additional, they have pass comes with discount if you purchase 5 – 6 passes, this promotion also ends in the end of July.
Couple of great things I would like to mention:
1)Place is brand new renovated, and upright CLEAN. I mean CLEAN. I am very particular with hair, I didn’t find any hair anywhere. They have cleaning crew constantly cleaning and inspecting.
2)They have plenty of staff, everyone is there to help you with your need. The masseuse ladies usually doesn’t speak english, but they have staff there to help to translate. A young lady name Crystal, in charged of the women bathing area, she was so accommdating and friendly.
3) AMAZING body scrub, masseuse will scrub you top, down, inside and out. lol I promise your skin will rejuvenate and reawaken.
Things you want to be aware of:
1) fresh juice bar, when I ask for no ice added. They gave me a half filled juice and told me this is how much they serve customer without ice. A half cup for $ 7.00 — $ 8.00.
With that much of money for a half cup of fresh juice? Nope. I will advise you to drink it elsewhere.
2) Front desk receptionist needs some touchup training, didn’t explain or introduce the layout of the facility either where to change the clothes.
