DONOTGOHERE! TERRIBLE place. The only decent thing about this place is how the interior looks. I was staying in Pennsylvania when I was in the east coast(trip from Cali), and drove about an hour and 15 to get to this place. The hookah lounges here in SoCal are all over the place and I’ve worked at a couple, so I’m all about hookah and an experienced with anything hookah related. At this place there was no friendly welcome, and a very unpleasant attitude by the worker. The hookah was absolutely horrible. Every time I had to flag someone down and they brought dead charcoals that were almost turning off. Put my feet on the table on the ottoman(that’s what those are for), and they disrupted us just to let us know that they don’t want that to happen… Upon leaving is when it became even worse. No legit receipt or register, just a handwritten note that stated a very overpriced total. Was expecting my total to be around $ 25, but they automatically add an 18% gratitude fee and on top of that sales tax and then also ROUNDITUP because they do the math quickly without a register. Argued with the guy, asked for the owner and he claimed to be the owner, and told him how awful the entire experience was. Asked him for a «receipt» so I can keep evidence and file a complaint with the BBB.

Used to LOVE this place and came here multiple times a month. After the ‘redesign’ im less of a fan. Also make sure you dont get seated under a vent. theres no point, the air kills any smoke you could get from the hookah.

Pretty cool looking place, and a large variety of flavors. Kinda rude workers. My boyfriend and I went here with a friend and after waiting for the hookah, it would not even pull, poorly packed in. They were stubborn about fixing it and thought we were stupid and didn’t know what we were doing.(We go to hookah lounges every weekend) and also have our own hookah. Kinda ridiculous. Waiting a long time for our check too. Poor service.

Went here for my friend’s 23rd birthday. This is the first time ever going to a hookah lounge. From the bouncer to where they seated it I got a good impression since there were 10 of us total. But as soon as our server came over it went from bad to worse. 1) Our server was rude. He strongly recommended this upsell that I wasn’t interested in and was very polite about not wanting to try it. I asked him what he recommended of the flavors and he said«well my recommendation was what I just gave you and you already said you weren’t interested.» Is it in the nature of businesses to tell their servers its acceptable to berate the customer for not choosing an upsell? I worked as a bartender at a nightclub and behavior like that was never tolerated. 2) There were 10 of us, but only 7 of us wanted to smoke. We ordered 2 of the $ 12 hookahs thinking the 7 of us would share them and we got water for all of us smoking. 10 minutes after ordering our hookahs they tell us their policy is 1 hookah per 2 people, and everyone had to order a drink. They expected us to order 5 hookahs even though only76 of us were going to smoke? Ridiculous. Our 3 non-smoking friends were forced to leave, and because we had carpooled they had to wait outside. At this point we wanted to leave and cancel our order but the hookahs had already arrived. We still had to order 1 more hookah so we opted for one of the cheaper $ 8 ones. 3) This last one was our last straw. We finished our 3 hookahs and promptly wanted to pay and leave. We got our bill thinking we’d be charged for two $ 12 hookahs, one $ 8 hookah, 7 waters at $ 2 each, all before tax. They overcharged us for almost double the amount. We were billed for 3 hookahs at $ 12, 10 waters at $ 2, and on top of that plus tax they added a big $ 20 tip for themselves. We only got 2 hookahs at $ 12 and 1 at $ 8, and only 7 waters because our 3 non-smoking friends had to leave and hadn’t ordered anything to drink. We argued with customer service about the bill and they simply said that’s their policy. We finally told them we weren’t paying until they fixed the bill, upon which customer service said they would call the police on us. We called their bluff since the police don’t deal with these matters and went back to our seats. 4) 5 minutes after the fiasco with customer service, one of the managers comes over and said he «fixed the bill.» Than he gave us a speech about how he’s helping us out because we’re «new» and«didn’t know,» and how the owners are going to yell at him because of us. He never actually fixed the bill, simply took off $ 8 – 9 but at that point we were so fed up so we paid the amount and left. Even after all this the hookahs weren’t even that great. My roommate and I have packed better hookahs than what we were served at Maya. I understand how a business operates, but we weren’t trying to be cheap customers. We just expected to be charged fairly for what we wanted to pay for, and instead we were given rude service, forced to get more than what we wanted, and given a bill that also included things we never ordered. I will never go back here and I have warned anyone I know that enjoys hookah to stay away from this place. I strongly recommend everyone who sees these 1 – 2 star reviews takes our advice and stays far away.

I did not like this place! This place is really dirty I do not recommend going to this hookah lounge. The employees are not on task and they don’t do their job correctly.

One of the better hookah lounges in the area. Be aware that they do have a 1 drink minimum but they have lots of fun virgin drink options to choose from. They have a nice club vibe with decent music playing. Place never gets too smokey, like other hookah lounges. Service can be slow even when the place is only half full, although I’ve never had a problem getting someone when we need coals changed.

Looking for a higher end hookah bar with a cool atmosphere? Come here. The inside is fairly nice. There is music playing and there’s a noticeable«club vibe» since there’s a bouncer at the door that checks your id before you’re let in and it’s dark and noisy inside. The hookah isn’t the greatest but the wait staff is pretty attentive and courteous. My recommendation is to come here with a group of people so this way you can share a few different types of hookahs and the bill being split amongst you will be a lot cheaper. Came here as a group of 6, shared 3 hookahs, and each of us paid $ 11. And yes, they make you order a drink as well but they have a huge menu of things to choose. I would definitely return here.

Horrible, horrible place. DONOTCOMEHERE. So it was my friends birthday and we searched a close by hookah lounge since we were in the area. And maya hookah lounge was the closest to where we were at. We were a group of 9 people. We get there and there’s a bouncer at the door. He checks all our IDs and tells us there’s a 10 – 15 minute wait, which was understandable since we were such a large group. There’s no entrance fee at the door which was good. 15 minutes later we are let in and taken to our table. The décor was cool. It was dark but they had dim colored lights everywhere and good music playing. Kind of a club vibe. Anyways so after we are seated the waiter says everyone has to order something(even if we don’t want anything we have to order something.) So everyone ended up ordering drinks and 4 hookahs(we decided to share the hookahs.) It took a very long time before we got our drinks and an even longer time until we got our hookahs. They ended up turning off the music for the rest of the night and we thought that was kind of weird. One of my friends hookahs tasted like straight charcoal. After we got our drinks and hookahs they never once came to check on us or change the charcoal. We got really annoyed. I went to the bathroom and it was just disgusting. Literally throw up in 2 of the sinks clogging them up and the smell was awful. We called one of the waiters to fix my friends hookah with the charcoal flavor and the waiter said«ok one minute» He never even came back so 20 minutes later we were just annoyed and wanted to leave. We tried to wave one of the waiters down and they were ignoring us. I decided to call their business number and ask for the bill(yes as ridiculous as it sounds I had to do it), we actually got the bill right away. So with 4 bottles of water, 5 drinks and 4 hookahs our bill came out to 75 dollars which wasn’t adding up. We went to the register and it turned out they were adding an 18% gratuity plus tax. I didn’t understand why the tip was included because they really did nothing for us. They didn’t deserve a tip at all. Right after we all paid, they turn on the music. It’s like they were waiting for us to leave. I do not recommend this place at all. Horrible service, dirty, pricey, rude attitudes, and honestly racist(they didn’t want us there.)

Great atmosphere, but the management is poor. Also there is a strict dress code for men that is not posted, and they will refuse entry to anyone that is not dressed as they deem appropriate. Overall, the management, along with the unreasonable policies, ruin the entire experience of the once cool environment.

The only thing this place has going for them is their cool, trendy atmosphere. I am not going to lie they did a great job decorating, but nothing else here is to rave about. So to start off they have a club-like vibe going for them, with darkened front doors, red carpet, and red rope. There is a ‘bouncer’ –like guy who checks ID’s half the time and half the time hangs out indoors. Upon entering you come to the bar where you are then seated. Like I mentioned, they have a bar. but with alcohol free beverages which is kind of corny. When it comes to their hookah, their prices did go up, they have a grand selection but the hookah takes forever to come out and it just does not last long. The worst part is that if you need more coal or for your hookah to be fixed you have to wait foreeeeever for anyone to come over. Personally, this place just isn’t worth your time. I guess Maya is good for those who want to feel like they are at an upscale club but can’t actually go to one.

They know how to prepare a good hookah. They use good coals and shisha as well. I do think they are under staffed, it took a good 15 mins to get two hookahs out however the 3rd took well over 30 mins of repeatedly reminding him. They need to hire a designated coal server. I love the drink idea of nonalcoholic«alcoholic» drinks. Hookah flavors are also good. My favorite as always been winterfresh by starbuzz which is difficult to find, I was happy to see they had it. Will be going again. The photos on their website make it seem a little larger & elegant then it really is. I did like the music. The lights were were pretty cool too. The darkness was ok they should think about investing in some flameless candles. Very friendly staff.

The stuff is affordable I will give them that. But as far as service goes the owner needs to go back to business school. So we go there pretty cool. Half our party arrives late and orders way after us. One waiter tells me yea just pay your portion and the tab will stay open for them. Ok I’m cool with that, so that’s what I do. When the other half of the party is ready to go the criminal(owner) was like we «split checks for no one» and is basically threatening to call the cops on party half #2, if they didnt pay an amount(which wasn’t even the full bill). Also the owner has no respect for armed forces members. I personally will never go back to that place ever again. But you can decide for yourself.

Just a few things you need to know that will dictate whether you go here or not: — the place is almost totally dark, you can barely see anyone’s face –there’s a large projector with bollywood type music videos playing, also normal music videos, which is cool –the hookahs are OK, not the best I’ve tasted –no parking, get ready to park somewhat far, as parking lot has like 10 spaces –bouncer at the door is super nice –no alcohol! so don’t come here if you’re trying to get twisted a plus: there is a dive bar next door, we went there and took a shot and came back, but still didn’t have that much fun, so we went to Mist Hookah in No. Brunswick instead. I’d recommend that place way over this place.

Time and time again, my bf and I find ourselves here. simply because Fire n Ice is CRAZY for charging a cover(sometimes 10, sometimes 20. ugh, s my d). and it’s WAY too noisy! And Sultana is teeming with little high school kiddies trying to be cool in their A&F and Hollister shit. *rolls eyes* so we find ourselves at Maya b/c he frequently needs his hookah fix.(Mind you, it’s pretty noisy here too. weirdass sound system coupled with shitty music) Décor wise. you know, I can see where they were going with the place. but the lighting, although it sets the mood for this place to be cozy and private. the floor plan is way too open for that. additionally, as beautiful as the chairs are. WTF?! i’m the kinda person that like to lean back when smoking. but these chairs are way too huge for you to accomplish both. blegh. NO alchy *sniff sniff*. but their mixed drinks are pretty good, so are the milkshakes. The hookah itself. not a fan. Too strong for me, so I can’t really enjoy it. Refills are maybe every 20 minutes and it’s a mission to flag anyone down! Last time, we told the manager, who told another guy, who found someone else. places like these should have a buzzer service lol. Bathrooms are ok, usually clean. Parking can be tight as some a**holes like to double park. sigh. not a fan– i wish there were a better place nearby!

Pulled up to maya and there is a club vibe with the red velvet rope even before you even enter the hookah lounge. As you go through the door music is blasting techno ish with alternating music with middle eastern? The atmosphere is very laid back. We were quickly greeted and and seated with menus. Our waiter was really quick and polite. The strawberry milkshake is absolutely AMAZING. The only down side to Maya is a two to three person per hookah, so if you have a big group, expect to order a hookah per couple.
