Edmonds Segway Tour

This was such a fun tour! Our guide, Ryan, was very patient and knowledgeable about the area. We would definitely recommend Segway of Edmonds to Washington natives and visitors alike!

My girlfriend was in town visiting and we decided as a goof (having watched Arrested Development) to rent Segways and see how dorky we would feel riding around town on them. We were completely unprepared for what we experienced.
First, I live here so I didn’t feel like paying for a tour of town (I could probably give the tour), but it turns out you can just rent the machines for $ 25/​hr per person. A very helpful staff member patiently (very patiently!) got us oriented on the machines and tolerated our spaz-​outs while we got used to the idea of standing on something that doesn’t look like it should be able to stay upright at all, much less roll around with you on it.
The machines themselves, after you get past the initial freak-​out, are surprisingly easy to master, and within 20 minutes or so my girlfriend and I were rolling down Dayton towards the waterfront with increasing confidence. When we got to a parking lot, the real fun started, as we tested out the capabilities of the Segways a little bit.
Surprises: speed bumps are fun. You can catch air on them if you aren’t careful. (Probably not safe, but you’re wearing a helmet so I’m sure it’ll be fine… just kidding, try to go slower than we did.) The Segways go faster than you think. 12.5 miles per hour, if I remember right, which is way faster than my 40-​something butt has moved in a long time except inside a car.
You still look like a dork, of course (the helmet doesn’t help), but here is the big surprise: you won’t care. Not even a tiny bit. People were waving to us, people asked us how hard they were to ride, etc. We had a blast. I’ve heard about people being rude to people who are on them, but we did not experience this at all. Everybody was perfectly friendly and we had a great time. Worst I can say is that I have a gigantic mutant head and the helmet gave me a headache about halfway through the ride. (It’s the biggest helmet they had and I may be the only ogre they’ve had come in there to rent one.)
Very nice guys, and a locally owned business. Can’t recommend this highly enough. Go check it out!

Such a sweet surprise! Invited to do a tour with friends and wasn’t sure about it… nervous about falling, etc. So much fun!!! What an absolute blast– can’t wait to do it again. Fun for a birthday party or group scavenger hunt, so many ideas! Can’t wait to do it again. If you’re new to Edmonds you’ll learn lots of fun facts. Best tour guides ever — Ian and Striker!!! Keep you safe but make it fun! Make an awesome memory and try it!

This tour was so much fun! When they were first showing us how to use them, I thought there was no way I would be able to do it without falling, but it was super easy to get the hang of it. Our tour guides Striker and Ian were awesome!!! They had tons of cool stories and facts about Edmonds. The tour was definitely way more fun than I could have ever expected!

What a fun experience!!! I had no idea how cool and fun this tour would be. Ian and Striker were so FUN! witty and knowledgeable of the city and history of Edmonds. The feeling on the «Segway» is over the top. It feels like your gliding and floating all over the city! Every person MUST experience this. My tween daughter had a blast and want to do it again!

My dad has recommended going on Segway tours before, so when he came to visit this weekend, my boyfriend and I were happy to go along. At the store they go over the basic safety information, then have you get on and try moving around — forwards, straight, turning, figure 8 — then they take you outside and you go uphill and downhill while the guide walks alongside you. They make sure you’re very comfortable before leaving.
Our tour guide, Ian, was awesome. He was patient and friendly and a good time. I think my odometer went up about 5 — 7 miles (don’t quote me…) so I definitely felt like we got our money’s worth. We also had a considerable amount of free time which was SO MUCH FUN!
My only comment is that if you’re looking for a history tour, don’t expect more than about 5 – 10 minutes of lessons. I’m not complaining, though, because we were absolutely there to ride the Segways.
Lots of fun and reasonably priced (we used a Groupon — $ 137 for ¹⁄₅ hours and 4 people, although we only had 3 people). Would HIGHLY recommend. We will definitely be returning to rent the Segways and take them out ourselves.

My boyfriend and I had a great time today! Ian our tour guide was extremely fun and helpful! I was scared at first, but after 10 mins I had it down no problem. We would definitely recommend edmonds Segway tours to our friends!

Would add an extra star, if that were possible; they were that good. I’d been on another area Segway tour before (West Seattle), but so many things make this one stand out.

Went in having heard the back story of this business being pioneered by twelve (or was it eleven) year old. Wondered if that was just a gimmick until I got there. Then I found myself wondering if any of the staff were old enough to have a drivers license :-). In the end, can’t overstate how impressed I was. Experienced better professionalism and customer service from these teenagers than I’ve seen in the adult world for a long time.
Try them out, you won’t regret it!

I would have written this review earlier but I’ve spent the last several days trying to wipe the smiles off the faces of my family! WOW, we had a great time!
We have just moved to the Edmonds area and had out of state guests visiting so I guess you could say we were all, all eight of us, new to the area. My kids had been asking to take a tour since the first day we drove by the store so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a try. That said, we didn’t plan ahead very well so when we called the store they were booked. NO PROBLEM, the owner at Segway Edmonds did not want to disappoint so Greg called an extra tour guide and came in early to accommodate us. I read in earlier reviews that this business is owned by a young man but didn’t expect to be so impressed by him and his team. The Segway Edmonds team was professional, provided excellent service and training, and c’mon they know how to have fun!
The ride itself was the perfect mix of tour and free riding. The segways are very intuitive and easy to ride (our 10 year old was a pro) so we mastered our new skill on the tour and had plenty of time to «freestyle» in an open space. I had a brief glimpse of what kind of drivers my kids may all become and wasn’t surprised to see it ranged from cautious to crazy.
I’m giving this outing 5 stars and would (will) do it again and will recommend to everyone. Surely, this will be our go to excursion for visitors.

We had a great time. I was very impressed by the young man whom owns, yes owns this business. The guys were very friendly and took time with each guest. The equipment was in great shape. Even in the rain I would recommend this to anyone. No balance needed. Just get on and ride.

My 12 yr old & 14 yr old loved it!!! The weather was perfect. The tour is not for the ‘wild & crazy’. It’s a wonderful experience doing something new as a family:) Bought a Groupon for $ 129 for 4 people for 90 mins (30 mins was the how to lesson).
My kids said they can’t wait to do it again. You can rent the Segway without the tour for $ 45/​hr.
Looking forward to coming back!

Touring the Edmonds beaches was OK, but they did nothing to enhance the «segway» experience. We had to snail-​pace behind the tour leader who didn’t allow any testing of what a segway can do. We had to stay on the sidewalk (or cut across parking lot) behind him.
The West Seattle Segway was so much more fun!

The segway tours are a much welcome and needed surge of fun for Edmonds! I had the opportunity to take a tour on a sunny and warm spring day last weekend. The tours our held out of the store «Running in Motion» which is on 4^th and Main in Edmonds. We were welcomed by the owner of the store and were sat down to watch a required video about safety for the segways. Next was the scariest part-​stepping on the segway for the first time! It is a little wobbly the first time that you get on but you get used to it in only a matter of seconds. In order to make sure that we didn’t endanger anyone’s life, we rode around the store first in order to practice our skills. I was surprised to see how intuitional the machine is… anyone can ride it! All that you have to do in order to make the segway move is lean forward. Gregg Jr. (the President of the tour company) was there to give us tips on how to make riding easier. He was very knowledgeable about the segway and obviously had a passion for teaching others how to ride. When we were comfortable, we hit the open road and were ushered into a parking lot where we could practice going a little bit faster and working on our turns. After a few more minutes of practice, I felt completely prepared to take on the streets of Edmonds!
The tour that we took ran along the beach but I believe that there are some other routes that you could take (Our tour guide, Gregg Sr., mentioned taking a tour of some historic buildings and houses). If you have never ridden a segway before, it is an experience that is hard to explain. My boyfriend said that he «felt like a ghost» because he was hovering above the ground and moving without any effort. We would ride for about 5 – 10 minutes and then stop to hear some information about Edmonds and test our trivia knowledge. I have lived in Edmonds for my entire life and I still learned a lot of new information. My favorite thing was learning about the underwater park– one of the best places to dive in the United States.
I would recommend this tour to anyone whether you are young or old. The segways are so easy and fun to ride– I challenge you to get on one without having an ear-​to-​ear smile! You will undoubtedly learn something new about Edmonds too. This would be a great date or family excursions. My only warning: be prepared to feel like a celebrity because everyone that you pass on your segway is bound to gawk and maybe even take a picture or two!
