Harvest Ranch Market

This is the only place that sells Halo Top Ice Cream east of the 15 highway! I’ve searched in San Diego everywhere and the only other place I had any luck was in La Jolla. Thanks Jonathon for the best service I’ve ever had in a grocery store.

I finally stopped in to this market, because its across the street from my house. I will NEVER shop there again. The prices are just insane. I really don’t see why the prices are as high as they are. Sprouts has the same things and is WAY more cheaper. I wanted to get some chicken kabobs and they were $ 10.99lb. Honestly I could have bought all the ingredients and made them myself for cheaper. I would not recommend stopping in this store just to grab something quick, because you will end up paying a fortune for the item.

I can understand the specialty items being pricey but skinless chicken breast 10.99 a pound, really? I don’t think it came from a farm in Italy… haha! Oh, well that’s what I get for not knowing this area and last minute dinner plans.

Only one other customer in this whole store. The added bonus/​disappointment is there are five workers at the meat counter and they’re talking about men’s genitalia very loudly very crude. I stood in the deli area, peruse the menu for almost 10 minutes and none of the three deli employees looked at me. This place had so much class back in the 80s and now it’s just an overpriced obnoxious overrated store with zero customer service. Completely ridiculous for a place that seems to pride itself on artisan specialty quality items.

The lemon bars by the desserts are my guilty pleasure. One of the best things ever. Crystallized ginger and the gorgeous flowers are my favorite purchases from here. It is a bit pricey, but the quality of the product is unbeatable. Juan is my favorite person to see when I come here. He always knows exactly what I’m looking for and where to find it. You’re so awesome! The cashiers are always friendly and the place is always spotless.

Every time we go in to the dessert area we ask for the Crème Brûlée and every time, they tell us they don’t know how to use the torch to caramelize. Either stop selling it or train the people on how to use it. We love the rest of the store!

It’s all in the name. This lavish and intriguing market is like a dream. Right when we walked in we were greeted by sweet Pearl at the register. She informed us where the salads were in the deli but we started out in the produce section. They have what I call «fancy» fruits and veggies. You get what you pay for and yes they are a little pricier than most markets. They carry those fancy small carrots (the ones you get on a steak plate).
The cheese section looked good. I’m pleased to share that they have JULIAN HARD CIDER and DUDLEY’S BREAD! That saves you a drive to Julian. Love that they carry beer from LOCAL breweries like Stone, Belching Beaver, Arrogant Bastard, and they are trying to get more in like one from Alpine. Thanks to meeting Jonathan, he informed us on lots of their brands, located specialities, and told us more about the store and their monthly specials. Great customer service!
The meat/​seafood department looked so perfect. We ended up getting their (recommended by a customer) fish ceviche and holy moly it was out of this world with their branded homemade bag of tortilla chips and mild salsa.
Their wine section is beautiful and abundant. They even have their own Harvest Ranch label. The high top tables are a nice touch for dining in. Along side is their fabulous deli where they make fresh sandwiches and salads using Boar’s Head brand. They have an amazing hot food section with all the fixings and sides. Enjoyed the twice baked potato and Mac n cheese.
My favorite section was the gorgeous desserts! I have been searching for $ 1 macarons just wish they had more flavors but they were all so tasty! This month, luckily the cheesecakes are on sale for $ 1.99 a slice and let’s just say it was heaven. So many unique desserts to chose from.
The aisles are filled with special hot sauces, olives, candy, and snacks that you can’t find anywhere else.
If they don’t have what you’re looking for, tell them so they can get it from the other store in Encinitas.

This is where we indulge and buy steaks. And fish. And, well, delicious food. I’m never disappointed. They have a few hard to find items. It’s always clean and they are kind and remember you when you come in every week with your husband to buy bacon and steak. Or every other week. They even miss is when it’s been a few weeks.

I finally got the chance to visit my local market and I was really impressed by the amazing updates in delivering customer satisfaction.
That being said, I knew that a place and location such as this deserves a 2^nd try. I decided to drop’N and get some steak to grill. The family are huge fan of my grilling abilities haha.
I got me 4 of their famous and well known brandy flamed peppercorn steak. The freshness, flavor, and cut were all 100% legit. The new management team gave this place a full turn round in its operation.
In addition, I love the Deli section, which they have over 15 different types of sandwiches and 4 bread options to choose.
I will be coming over and over in the coming years to this market place. Its a walking distant.

This grocery store frustrates me for several reasons.
I live down the street and it’s the most convenient option if I’m in a pinch and need some meat or produce for dinner. After so many bad experiences, I only go here in an absolute emergency. Usually, I just deal with the traffic and make the run to Sprouts or Ralphs, which takes me three times as long.
First and foremost, the freshness and quality of the meat, seafood, and produce is shocking. Worse than Stater Bros. on El Camino Real, which in my experience, is pretty bad when compared to the other chain stores in this area. I do most of my shopping at Seaside Market in Cardiff or Sprouts, and the quality of their food just blows Harvest Ranch away.
Berries are often mushy or moldy, produce is wilted or bruised, and the meat — don’t even get me started on the meat. They stock a pretty good supply of cuts, but it’s obvious that their turnover is low, because the meat has the smell and appearance of the «reduced for quick sell» you might find at a chain store. I have tried buying meat/​seafood here on several occasions and have always been disappointed. Like, give the off-​tasting pork chop to my dog and eat canned tuna for dinner disappointment.
I wouldn’t shop here if the prices were at a discount level. Which is ironic, because it is by far the most expensive market in the area. This place makes Whole Foods and Seaside seem like budget markets. I don’t mind paying for good quality meat or produce — but you are kidding yourselves if you think I am going to pay these prices for food of this quality. On more than one occasion, I have laughed out loud in this store, looking at their prices. I get it; the rent is high and your customers (Rancho Santa Fe and Olivenhain residents) are less sensitive to high prices. I have no complaints there. An upscale market needs to sell a quality product, though.

Great service!
I was looking around the store one morning and unbeknownst to me my tummy reminded me that I have yet to eat breakfast. What do you know? A strategically placed freshly baked French bread alerted my nose what my tummy reminded me a few moments ago… breakfast! I proceeded to look around the store hunting for breakfast, I unknowingly ended up circling the freshly baked section.
An employee noticed my actions and asked if I needed anything, I replied that I was hungry and would it be great to have freshly baked bread with some butter. She informed me that they only sell butter in blocks, she saw my disappointment and said «follow me to the deli and see if they have any».
Well to make a long story short, the deli didn’t have any but the employee asked if I could get a small piece anyway. I got my French bread and a sliver of butter for breakfast.
I am a fan, what great customer service!

Haven’t been here in over a year. I wanted to come back because I remember how good their sandwiches were. I ordered a Reuben and asked to hold the sour crout. The gal making the sandwich was nice but had no clue what she was making. Too salty for a Reuben, all I got was meat, cheese, thousand island. Barely warm and cheese was dry. Looks like they may have been bought out by another owner. I also bought chips and salsa. Salsa tasted like spicy tomato sauce and chips were soggy. Not the same harvest ranch I remember going to a few years ago.

Wonderful gourmet market with a wonderful deli and meat counter. Order a half sandwich if you have a normal appetite — the freshly– made ones are huge. Great selection of salads and main entrees to take home also. Wonderful wine department to boot.

LOVE this store. Now, I have been to a similar market in RSF, not sure if it is the same exact line of stores.
You may have been told that if you want to eat a healthy diet ONLY shop everywhere BUT all the center isles in a given grocery store.
Ever think about that?
Well, if you take the isles out here’s what you lose: Processed Foods in boxes and frozen foods, pre-​made packaged meals that are full of extra junk,…and canned stuff [ok, some canned items are fine]
One other exception is condiments. Gotta have those right?!
So what Harvest Ranch offers is just that! A grocery store without the isles of garbage… making it a truly fine market of quality foods.
Gorgeous meats, cheeses, picnic offerings, artisan breads, fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables and a Super awesome section of just the right condiments with offerings on the gourmet side!
Now, I didn’t take any photos here [yet]. This awesome fine grocer, happens to be right next door to ‘Hana Sushi’ — so I am sure to become a regular even though it’s 12 miles from my house!
I had picked up the usual from Hana: 12 piece sashimi chef’s selection and two special rolls — so I needed a great IPA to quench and cool my buds after bites of the ‘crazy roll’ w/​jalapeño! Grapefruit Sculpin’ — no brainer.
Harvest Ranch also has dimmer lighting than most stores, the right level of music and it is laid out so you can quickly locate what you are looking for.

Came in this place today to grab some lunch before school, I seriously couldn’t find anything under 7 $ I wanted to get some berries but a tiny tray of blue berries were 7 $!!! I couldn’t believe it. Then I saw some other mixed fruit at the front and it was 5.99 I walked out buying nothing this place is a STRAIT UP RIP OFF!!! Never would I come here again. Bet they don’t get much business

Great food and service
Great little market for high end meats and speciality foods. The service is terrific, I especially appreciate the help of Rita — the friendliest checker in town!

This place is stuck between a Whole Foods and a Farmers market. They have a very interesting selection of prepared foods, meats, cheeses, produce and wine. However, the majority of their meat selection is severely overpriced.
For instance, their USDA Choice tri tip is priced at $ 10.99 per pound. Most of their meat selection (if any) is not even prime cut… but for some reason, they price it as such. I would rate this place 2 stars for their prices in this area… Sprouts is right down the street and puts up a competitive market. I would rate their customer service as 4 stars… they greeted me and they had a small town feel to it.

After a recent workout, my trainer suggested I stop in here to pick up some prepared chicken. I came in with no preconceived notions so I was REALLY surprised what I found inside. This is a great gourmet butcher shop, fish monger and deli all rolled into one store. Even better it’s in the middle of East County and I didn’t know they were there. OH DON’T FORGET THE BAKERY
I bought macaroni salad and chicken salad from there deli, they were both delicious and reminded me of the salads I used to find everywhere (once upon a time), so happy they have kept the traditional recipes.
I also bought marinated sea bass and beef wellingtons to bake later. Everything was delicious and tasted home made. We enjoyed every bite.
There is the most beautiful veggie section. It is not huge, but every vegetable is hand selected and PERFECT. I love that you can go in buy a small amount, knowing its super fresh and perfect and make the perfect meal. Let’s not forget that they have a decent wine selection too.
This isn’t a grocery store for toilet paper and other non perishables, but for FOOD, you can not go wrong here. The staff too is super friendly and helpful.
