If your fav Mexican food is Taco Bell, this place isn’t for you. Some of the BEST Mexican food North of the border. No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service. Other than that just bring a few dollars and enjoy! Highly recommend the fresh red onions laced with diced Habenero chiles, found between the sliced radishes & guacamole at the fresh salsa bar.

For now I just hope to live long enough to post a review on the 2 tacos I ordered 35 minutes ago! Seriously, there are only 4 people ahead of me!

I love Mexican Food and I search from Unilocal to know this place. I hangout out with friends, let try how that is. We ordered tacos. That was salty, the place was dirty; the restroom was so disgusting. Price is quite cheaper, but the food was not really good. I don’t think I will come back again

So uploaded Unilocal onto my phone and Tacos Los Betos popped up. I read all the good reviews and I told myself I’ll mix it up today. I usually go to Gardunos for my Mexican grub. Prices are good, service was good, food was ok. I was expecting a lot more. Now I’m not like Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs. Mr. Pink doesn’t want to tip the waitress because of the service. I’m not picky like that, but after reading all of the positive reviews I expected bomb ass grub. Salsa bar was ok, it looked like a truck ran over it a few times, no avocado sauce. Maybe if I would have gotten some great avocado sauce I would have given 2 ½ stars. Last negative was the little limes. I think the limes aren’t ready for consumption, if you bite into one of the small seeds you get a bitter taste in your mouth. GRUBJUSTOK. I might go back again.

A good hole in a wall Mexican Restaurant. They serve delicious traditional Mexican dishes for low prices! Their salsa bar offers a variety of salsas! I definitely enjoy the avocado salsa the most! Will be coming back again!

Oh yeah bring on the birria! I had a torta here and it was really good. I love that green salsa. Guacamole is actually really good and you can get as much as you want at the condiment bar. My bro really likes the tripas here. I def want to come back for breakfast which is super affordable, def recommend coming here if you have a craving for some good tacos or tortas.

They have FRESHQUACAMOLE! Not green runny stuff that’s Guac flavored… Today I got 3 Taquitos and guac for like 4.13. I think the fresh guac is worth 3 by itself! I’ve had their tacos and their pretty good too! They have a serve yourself bar with radish, carrots, and the best salsas. From the looks of the place you wouldn’t expect such great food! prices are on the cheap side, but the quality is totally there(and worth it!). I wanna keep coming back and try everything. It’s right by my office, but I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…

Tacos Los Betos is a local hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that serves many traditional Mexican dishes as well as burgers and fries for low prices. Their Taco is no longer $ 1, it costs about $ 1.25 after the tax. Their salsa bar is quite good which includes the avocado sauce, similar to, but better than El Pollo Loco. They’ve got a TV showing a Mexican channel. Parking is convenient, with a lot and plenty of street parking. It’s close to the I-10 Freeway, on Baldwin Ave in El Monte. Don’t come here if you want healthy food, as some of the meat, like Chorizo, is actually fried to a crisp. Torta and Horchata are also available here. For under $ 5, you are better fed here than you would be in a McDonald’s nearby.

Cheap great tacos! Fresh — authentic — friendly service. Pretty much a hole in the all taco bar. Has breakfast menu as well but it is mostly about the tacos here. good selection of salsas especially the avocado one which seems to be the most popular(El Pollo Loco kind of made this type of salsa mainstream). I did not try the breakfast but it is damn cheap here. Carnitas and carne asada tacos were tasty, moist and just greasy enough to feel good but not too guilty. Great tortillas. Where can you get a good homemade style taco for a $ 1 nowadays. Good stuff! The spanish TV playing made it more authentic! No thrills setting(hole in wall) but the food makes up for it. Mixed crowd of families, workers, and foodies. Chitter chatter of spanish talk, tv blaring in the background, all good makes it more authentic… love these hole in the wall places!

Went here with my family and not only was the waitress beyond rude she messed up all the orders we had and when I tried to talk about it with her she snatched my daughter’s plate right not from in front of her. I used to LOVE this place but now I refuse to go there because their service is SHITTY!

First off the settings on my camera were wrong so most of the photos came out bad… Yet another small taco shop in the City of El Monte, serving a wide variety of Mexican food and also American style Breakfast, looking at the menu a number of things appeal to me unfortunately I’m not that hungry, so I order a couple tacos and ask if they have a breakfast burrito since I didn’t see it on the large menu, I was told yes, but… NO Bacon… Ham only, well at least I get my daily serving of piggy. Tacos — Buche(Dorado) y Al Pastor Buche — I asked for it to be done bien dorado as I always do, this was nowhere close to dorado let alone bien dorado, about half was still soft and just not appealing. 2-Stars Al Pastor — Hmmmm from one extreme to another, this al pastor was way overcooked, dry and lacking flavor! 2-Stars Tortillas were OK nothing special though they do have some real good salsa! Breakfast Burrito — HAM — I was told they«Only have HAM» and it comes with eggs, hash browns and cheese well not really complaining but it looks and tastes like sausage to me… Now although the burrito was on the small side, there was a limited amount of SAUSAGE, hash browns were undercooked and almost non existent, it did taste good and liked the fact they used white cheese, and eggs were cooked nicely also it was ONLY $ 1.99, so had it been a $ 4+ burrito I would slam it, but for $ 1.99 it’s pretty damn good! 4-Stars

Pro — good place, good location, small parking lot, good food. Bought the steak and eggs for $ 1.99, total came out to be $ 2.19 including tax. The toast was good, not dry at all or soggy with butter. The eggs were well done. Came with free beans so no issue there and that bean came with cheese. The steak was a little different then advertise but it had a mushroom taste to it. Really good even though it was thin, but never the less it was one really good steak for something that is $ 2.19 combine with other items. Con — the box had a hole in it, probably melted somehow, was a little concern that I may have ingested it. That was for the one star but everything else was good. Menu top left corner of the ordering area. That was a little confusing but from what the waitress or w/e explained that the $ 1.99 was from 7am to 11am. After 11am is the mid afternoon breakfast? So in conclusion it was a damn good place to get some breakfast for a first timer.

I was a little leery when I found out it was under new ownership but wanted a carne asada burrito so figured, «What the hell» YUMMY. 5 bucks for a burrito that looks like the size of a small newborn, and filled with yummmmmmy flavorful carne asada. Seriously I could not stop eating. Also tried the beef taquitos and those were on point with a GREAT avocado salsa which is: gasp: free at the salsa bar along with lemon, radishes, and a yummy green salsa. I want to come back for breakfast… all 1.99! Incluidng one that is steak, eggs and toast! So yeah, it looks shabby and only takes cash but you will not be disappointed.

I work just down the street from this place and while I’ve driven by numerous times on the way to other local eateries for lunch, I have never stopped by until today. Wow! Amazing tacos with a great accompaniment bar(pickled onions and avocado salsa were perfect on the tacos). I tried the pollo, birria, and carnitas tacos. All were great, particularly the carnitas, and for only a buck a piece. I look forward to going back and trying the al pastor, which looked really great turning around on the spit in the kitchen. Add a little World Cup on the high def TV and it was a nice way to spend a quick lunch.

CHECKLIST: +Only non-Latino in the restaurant. Check! +Some sort of telenovelas playing on the TV. Check! +Menu with items I wish I had subtitles for. Check! +The BEST $ 1 tacos in the area. CHECK! CHECK! CHECK! Tacos Los Betos certainly is one of those places that you drive by everyday on the way to/fro the 10 freeway and simply miss because it doesn’t stand out. And boy are you missing out! SETTING: Okay. so the place is really small, really humble, and by humble, I mean kind of dumpish. There is a handful of tables, and a salsa bar serving one of THEBEST avocado salsas around. Everyone working there only speaks Spanish, so half the time, I don’t know if they understood what I ordered with my Gringo-speak. THEHITLIST: I always get a taco lengua, birria, pastor, asada, and pollo. 5 tacos for $ 5 leaving a very VERY happy customer. The meats have just enough flavor and the textures leave you satisfied. The salsas they have accentuate the flavors and are all you can splurge. BONUS: There is a special every day of the week except for Fridays. From memory, I know there is 5 tacos and a med. drink for $ 5 on Tuesdays, Menudo on Saturday and Sunday, Tortas on Wednesdays, and the rest, you’ll have to go visit and figure out on your own. VERDICT: You owe it to yourself to stop by this place at least once to pass final judgment on continuing on passing and ignoring, or stopping by and enjoying a good taco or two or three from time to time. Love it~!

I’ve been driving past this place 2x a day, for years now! Was always curious, and on a tip from friend, finally tried it and YUM! Great tacos at only $ 1 each. Can’t beat that. There’s even a condiment bars with: sliced radish, cucumbers, limes, salsa… and the necessary accoutrements for the perfect taco. I tried the carne asada(good) and lengua(better) tacos, but I’ll be back to try the rest ;) There’s a sit-down area in the restaurant, but I’d just get it to-go since the place is not much to look at. Disclaimer: I love hole-in-the-wall gems, so if you’re into that type of thing, then you’ll like this.
