History

Established in 2000.

The owner and mechanic, Cal, established himself in West LA in the early 80’s. After a successful run of 6 years, he expanded to the outskirts of LA in Redland. In the early 90’s Cal moved to the South Bay where he lead mechanic for Jim and Jack’s. He then decided to start C’s Auto Repair in 2000 and been a success as he caters to loyal South Bay residence and workers.

Cal, is the owner and mechanic at C’s Auto Repair. Cal’s love for automobiles began since he was a young boy. He brought his skills to the Los Angeles area in the early 80’s. Being well aware of the challenging automotive repair industry, Cal made sure his is well versed both technically and mechanically on all make and models. He runs C’s Auto Repair based on a simple philosophy… Client Trust and Top Notch Service.

My family and I have been going to Cal for years. The number one thing in auto repair is honesty and Cal is spot on. Prices are very reasonable too. Years back my wife’s Volvo broke down and she brought it to a shop in long beach by her work. They tried to charge us $ 1400 telling us it was a very time intensive job. I had the car towed to Cal and he had in and out of the show in no time… final bill $ 200. Honest great guy!

Excellent service by Cal and his team. I brought my car in to fix a burned out brake light bulb. Another auto body shop wanted to take off my bumper and hold the car there for a day in order to change the bulb. That’s ridiculous. C’s Auto Repair fixed it in a matter of minutes without having to remove the bumper. Not only that, they didn’t even charge me. They are the real deal. Cal and his team are very friendly and know their business. Thank you Cal and your team for the excellent service. Highly recommended!

These guys are great! Brought my car in during work when the brakes suddenly started giving out. He diagnosed the problem for free and took it in the same day. They were able to give me a ride back to work and get the car fixed by the next morning. No appointment needed. Cal was extremely friendly and I could tell he has passion for what he does. He even gave me a small discount for paying cash! I recommend these guys for any interior car problems you may have!

Cal is the real deal. He’s a passionate guy who is great at what he does– what more could you ask for in a mechanic?
We were very lucky to find Cal when we moved to El Segundo. He changed the oil on my boyfriend’s mini cooper several times over a couple of months, so we felt my old Saab was in good hands when we needed to have it tuned up before a long road trip.
Two mechanics in Texas told me the Saab was borderline too rusty to work on and basically implied that it was soon to be a death trap. It was an east coast car for 10+ years, and has an average amount of rust for a snowy area… but probably a shocking amount of rust for a warm-​weather mechanic.
I told Cal to give it to me straight and tell me if the rust was too bad to make the car worth keeping. A few days later, he rang me up and said it wasn’t structural and didn’t affect how the car functions or how safe it was, it was just a little scary looking. He changed the oil and filter, checked the tire pressure, replaced the spark plugs, and probably more, and the bill was VERY reasonable, less than half what a mechanic in Texas wanted to charge me for the exact same work.
I wish we weren’t moving and could keep Cal as our regular mechanic. He’s the best.

Went to see Cal based on all the great reviews here. Cal is legit. I walked in and said my brakes are making some noise but they have plenty of meet on from what I can see. I did a lot of the work on my jeep back in Boston where I had access to a shop. I don’t have the luxury here. I was delighted to hear Cal give me all technical information regarding what could be wrong with the brakes. At the end of the day Cal explained and showed me what he did to fix the issue. I was ready to get new brakes and rotors and ended up needing some maintained instead.
Definitely found my mechanic. Highly recommend.

Cal is the best. For auto repair, Cal has to be the most honest guy in the world… But that is not fair, he might be the most honest guy in the world, period. I’ve read reviews and had Cal treat me the same way. After coming back from the Auto Dealership with them saying that I need $ 2,000 worth of work, I went to Cal and he said we can do this and that and it will be a couple hundred bucks and we can check back every 6 months.
I would recommend him to anyone with any car. I used to go to other auto repair places and wondered if the number I thought it should be is going to be 2x, 3x, 4x more than I think and now I go to Cal and I come out of it with, did he charge me enough (and he almost feels bad that he had to charge me $ 100). It is crazy.
For South bay residents and especially El Segundo residents, you would be crazy to go to anyone but Cal.

I can’t say enough about Cal! I have been a loyal client for many, many years! I actually referred Iris D. since I felt she was being hood winked by another mechanic and told her to see Cal. Not only does he show you the parts that are being replaced he also does extras and doesn’t charge you for it. It is his honesty and his knowledge of mechanics that keep me coming back when the need arises. My son also uses Cal for his car. He is and always will be our family mechanic!!!

Cal and his crew are amazing!
I was recomended this place by a close friend. She said she has been a faithful customer for many, many years and I can see why.
From the begining I could see that they are very knowledgable and most of all HONEST. I went to a place and I was quoted $ 3,000+ to get rid of the noice my car was making. Cal took one look and replaced a $ 29 bolt and the car was fixed!!! This man is so honest, I trust him 100% and he really cares about his customers.
In addition to that I got a tune up and my windshield replaced, the work is great and the cost is unbelievable, not event a fourth of what I expected.
Needless to say, I am so happy and will continue to refer all my friends and family!!!

These guys are superb. They spent 4 hours to inspect problems without charging, then they gave multiple options to solve the problems whichever suits my need and budget. They didn’t even mind if I back up and go elsewhere, however I din’t do it.
I’m impressed by their honesty, straight forwardness and reliability. Definitely come back for any car issue. Cal is a great guy !!

I do not trust mechanics. I have a background in auto mechanics, but my circumstances don’t allow me to work on my own car anymore. Cal looked at my car. However, the part needed was only available from the dealer and it was going to take a while to arrive (and be expensive). He gave me an option to use a different part and McGuyver’d it a little bit to make everything fit perfectly. It took him a little longer than he expected, but he stuck to his original quote anyway. Quality work. Good price. I will definitely use him again.

How amazing these people are. I only spoke to them over the phone since my friend’s car broke down on her way to work and she didn’t know what to do. Long story short this place took her beat up car in and spend the whole morning looking for what is wrong with it without charging her. At the end my friend decided it’s best to junk her car. If I ever need automotive repair, I’m thinking of coming here even though I’m not close to them but they seem legit.

It’s so great to have found a reliable, local garage for working on my cars. Conscientious and thorough, Cal checks everything before providing clear information about what he’s learned along with a fair estimate. He breaks it down by parts and hours and then does the work quickly and efficiently. Final costs lined up right to the estimates which I thought were fair.
And, when the job is done, without needing a prompt, he shows you all of the parts, provides a little education about the work and shows exactly what he did in the engine compartment.
I’ve got a BMW and a Honda Pilot and he works on both. Knows the special in-​and-​outs of the German cars and when it’s worth it to buy the German part and when you don’t need to. He’s also quick to offer cheaper solutions if you’re working on a tight budget, but seems to take pride in doing things the correct way if you have the money for the parts.
Rarely do you find someone who remembers you (and your cars) by your first name and treats you like he really cares.
