Jim and Jack’s Collision Center

Well I just got into another accident and I didn’t hesitate for one minute on where to take my car. I had used Jim & Jacks back in 2014 for the repairs to my Audi. Now my BMW was rear ended and it needed to get work done. You can tell if a business is running great when you see the same faces all over again. Everyone was happy and it was evident on how I was treated. The repairs done to my car were ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! As if I just picked it up from the dealer. I also got a courtesy detail after the repairs were done. Friendly people, GREAT work, and family owned, would definitely recommend to all Unilocalers! Jim & Jack’s ROCKS!!!

Totally incompetent bodywork.
I wasted so much time going back and forth with this shop’s work, having them to «fixes» to just end up creating new problems. Not happy. The last straw was they damaged the interior of the car the last time they went to mend one of the paint flaws.
I’m not going to waste more of my time and write a lengthy review explaining all the BS. Long story short don’t waste your time going here, find a better shop.

I want to start off this review saying that when I came to Jim and Jack’s I was in a very tough situation. They were very understanding and bend over backwards to help me. Manny was totally awesome he is a really good guy and gives excellent customer service. Even though my car was a total loss Jim and Jack’s was very helpful in providing me with all the proper information so I could make an informed decision about my car. Again Manny was awesome and so was Richie. They have very clean offices and a very professional environment they even have a Enterprise Rent-​A-​Car station on site. I am very satisfied with my experience.

Jim and Jack’s display customer service UTOPIA! Their hassle-​free, committed, professional, courteous and even personable care astonished me with every step of the way, from the receptionist to the assessor and all the way through picking up my badly dented car (passenger seat jammed into front bender) looking and driving as good as new, thanks to their work.
Jim and Jack’s came highly recommended by my co-​workers and my insurance company, AAA. their assessor, Jesse Ontiveros, was there to answer every question and called me up several times with updates of progress. My car was ready to be picked up on time and never through this process have i waited longer than a few minutes (during which i have always been offered a cup of coffee). Jim and Jack’s in-​house Enterprise desk makes it as easy as dropping your car off and picking a rental up by turning your head from one friendly representative to another, in the same reception office. I tend to be very critical but in this case I would give it a 6 star, if there was such an option; they have acceded my highest expectations.

This is going to be a long review.
I have been coming here for years whenever I have been in a collision, as matter fact I have referred family and friends over the years because their quality of work was impeccable. All of this quality has changed for the worse.
A few weeks ago, I was sadly involved in a car accident. I called my insurance company and told them that I was going to bring my car to Jim and Jacks. Luckily for me this shop was on their «approval» body shops so here I go.
I took my car, filled out all the customary paperwork, spoke with Gabriel and went over on the repairs that were going to take place, etc. He furthermore mentioned that my car was going to take at least 3 – 4 weeks to be repaired and ready to go which I thought and told him that it was too long. I used to work for a body shop back in the days and I knew right from the start that this was not right, usually this type of repairs take about two weeks top unless the shop is really busy and that is understandable.
This past Wednesday April 13 2016, I got a call from the shop and was told that my car was ready, I was happy that the repairs took less than expected. Upon receiving my car, I inspected it and discovered the following
1-​My keychain which was a gift from my beautiful wife and which I had over 12 years was STOLEN.. When I asked Gabriel of what happened, he did not have a clue and his answer was basically «well you signed a form stating that you took everything from inside the car» I told him yes, that is correct but stealing a key chain? Really? So next time you bring your vehicle here for repairs make sure you really take everything out including any keychains otherwise they are going to be disappear. In addition Gabriel told me «you have no idea of the type of animals these guys are» Really? So you mean to tell me that this shop is not aware of the type of personnel they hired? I was shocked with Gabriel’s response. Its not the monetary value of the keychain, its the principal, you cannot really trust this shop with your personal belongings.
2-​There were imperfections on the paint which were visible to the eye and touch. I pointed those out to Gabriel and told me to wait, that he was going to go to back to the shop and have one of his guys fix it. I waited almost one hour and finally came back; I inspected the vehicle once again and guess what? The molding on my passenger side had a gap– I showed him that the other door did not this gap, he basically did not want to admit it until i physically showed him– he said ok, right now its about closing time and my guys are about to leave home, please bring the car one of these days so we can fix it. What really bothers me is that why call me to let me know that my car is ready when clearly no one has a decency to check on it first. This to me is ridiculous, lack of common sense and unprofessional.
3-​I left the shop 15 minutes before closing and I could see that Gabriel was not very happy of me pointing all these little things– I had a feeling that he was expecting me to get into my car, not to inspect the job, shake his hand, say thank you and come home. Absolutely not!!!
4-​Driving back home, i noticed that the inside my car had a strong smell of paint, my dashboard was dusty, my carpets were stain with grease and some other crap– unfortunately I did not notice this when I was in the shop and believe me i was so annoyed by the fact I had to wait an hour for them to fix their mistakes so at this point i was not in the mood to keep on going. My car was super clean when I brought in two weeks ago. My car is 11 years old and I keep it impeccable in the inside and outside– as matter of fact, i do my own car details so you can figure out the kind of guy I am. I have a feeling that when they were working on my car they did not bother to roll up my windows or cover up the inside and as of result all the dust got inside my car. I am pretty piss off because I now i have to hire someone to do a really deep cleaning inside my car since these people are careless. I am thinking that because my car is 11 years old is not treated the same as other newer vehicles.

This whole experience with J&J has been horrible– careless attitude, stealing from clients and to top it all off returning your car dirty it’s not acceptable. I am sorry but i am never coming back nor will I refer anyone here.

Jack is an all-​around honest guy and quality individual. I came in with my Toyota Prius, which suffered a bit of a dent and scratch by the passenger door/​fender, and instead of recommending a near-​$ 1500 job, Jack applied a solution that mitigated the scratch, and then offered me to swing by a week later to get some tune-​up paint. Despite a couple of re-​schedules on my end, he worked with me and I just picked up the paint today. Oh, and everything came at no charge. Thanks for the five-​star service!

I am absolutely pleased with Jim and Jack’s. I was rear ended in my new Chevy Corvette Stingray by a huge Chevy Suburban. My bumper was wrecked!!! GABRIEL took great care of me. He was professional, answered all of my questions, and called me to keep me updated. My car was done in a week and a half. I would highly recommend this autobody shop, but more specifically Gabriel!!!

I was referred to Jim & Jacks through Mercury insurance. Gabriel worked with me from the initial inspection of my vehicle down to the the handing over of keys when the repair was complete. He was friendly, efficient and professional. Both Jim and Jacks and Gabriel made sure I was constantly updated with the status of the repair and I was pleasantly surprised when it was completed in less than the estimated time. I also received my car back in better condition than when I left it. I had some body damage, but now even my engine is running better! Thank you Gabriel and the crew at Jim and Jacks for your time and effort.

As someone who develops emotional attachments to cars, I will not just go anywhere for body work. After carefully researching Unilocal and emailing other BMW owners in South Bay and the greater Los Angeles area, I decided to take my car to Jim and Jack’s. I am happy I did.
While this place gets busy especially in the morning, I did not have to wait long. Jesse who took care of my car from the initial estimate to delivery was friendly, thorough, efficient, and professional. He was great to work with, keeping me updated throughout the entire process and responded to my calls promptly. Most importantly, the bodywork exceeded my expectations.
If you love your car like child, Jim and Jack’s is the place to go.

Had to take my car here after getting into an accident. They were amazing. They communicated with me through every step of the process. When I picked up my car it had been washed and vacuumed and looked brand new again. I would highly recommend them for any auto body repairs!

I waited for about 45 minutes for someone to inspect my vehicle and get me an estimate for repairs. When the technician finally came out, he just look at my vehicle, didn’t even inspect the vehicle, and he used a lot of profanity when he was looking at my car then promised to send me an estimate for repairs via email and just never did.
I experienced very bad costumer… I wouldn’t come back here. There’s not always a second time for a first time impression

My wife got hit by someone and said she said she had her cars repaired at Jim and Jack’s before and she wanted to take it there.
It took 5 weeks to fix, which seemed long, but whatever, maybe it took them a long time to source parts. That was not the major problem for me.
We went to pick it up, after 5 weeks mind you, and there was over spray and some glue all over the car. They tried to say it was there when the car came in. No it wasn’t. We don’t paint and glue our cars. So now I caught them lying.
A manager said to give the car back to them and they’d have their detail guys clean it up. So we wasted a lot of my important time, which costs me $$.
We came back a week later after a vacation.
The glue was STILL on the car.
I angrily said to give us the car anyway, and that I’d pay my own $$ to get my own detailer to make it right, and they ACTUALLY LET ME off the lot with the car a mess.
My wife took it back there a THIRD TIME without my knowledge, and they finally fixed it and got it right the 3^rd time.
Wow, it really takes 3 times to buff out the paint the right way, and clean up your own messes?
If I could give them minus 500 stars I would. They wasted a stunning amount of my time.

Personally, I would avoid this group.
Being an in accident is bad enough. But to be in an accident and the emerge feeling worse — well that is the experience I had at Jim and Jack’s.
For me… it’s the little details that matter. Jim and Jack’s tried to minimize my issue as «minor’. Perhaps they see too many accidents to appreciate or care for anything less than a event. Perhaps the business is so prosperous that they can avoid having a strong attention to detail. Perhaps Jim and Jack’s is better off serving people that tolerate mediocrity.
Not a business model I would support
I had an issue and ended up being unsatisfied with the service I was provided. What seemed like a good experience at first; turned sour.
You can read below if you wish. Reader Digest version… I had an issue with some damage created unrelated to the initial claim. The owner attempted to make good and split the cost. It was a nice gesture and perhaps more than he thought he needed to do — however had the person ultimately in charge of the situation been the single point of contact — Jim and Jacks would have realized the gap and owned the responsibility. At the end of the day I did not feel like paying more on top of my current expense to fix something that didn’t happen on my watch. I would rather be disappointed and provide this feedback, then mask by disappointment with a poor settlement.
When entering Jim and Jack’s you think you are in good hands. All smiles, nice tvs, etc…
When the owner who is not directly involved portrays your issue as ‘minor’ (when to you it is so not «minor») you wonder if they truly have the customer top of mind. I certainly felt the motive was more around cost management and not to meet customer expectations. It left me feeling as if I was working with a big chain.
Ultimately I am left frustrated with my experience. I provide this letter in the hopes others will vet their options carefully. I went with the suggestion of USAA and plan to advise accordingly.

Had back and forth conversations with Richie — and at the end of they day, we disagree. It’s unfortunate. Ultimately I can not accept paying to fix a problem that I am convinced your establishment created. I don’t go looking for trouble or try to better myself in situations, but I do stand behind principles.
When I dropped my car in your office, there was no issue with chipped chrome… upon receipt there was. This issue was immediately cited. Ultimately it will come down to the in-​take papers and I am fully prepared to address this matter in in/​formal legal channels. Affordable council on my side is a luxury, however this is more than that, this is a principle issue. I am sure Ritchie can appreciate this, as we addressed during our conversation. According to Richie there are surveillance tapes and records — i do plan to incorporate these as admissible into the discussion so pulling these in advance will be helpful.
Had you been my in-​take person as planned, you would have witnessed my attention to detail, Given your hand off to a subordinate, I do plan to involve employee input.
I will fully represent the positive side of our interactions — Jim and Jack’s has been forthcoming (clearly to avoid future issues with the previous conditions on the car), courteous, offered coffee and bathrooms upon entering. I will also share the difficult conversations that occur when a customer is not entirely satisfied… in as articulate a manner as I can.
I wish this could have been resolved differently. I will present all feedback as objectively as possible.

I have been going to Jim and Jack’s for years and always get the best service. From the texts updating me on my vehicles status, to the friendly staff, to the exceptional work they do, they make sure that you are back to where your car was before it was damaged.
I recently had to take my car to repair my door due to being keyed. My car was only a month old so of course I was upset and hated that I had to but it in the shop. My car was in and out of the shop over night and was just like new. I am a stickler for customer service and believe that in this day and age its very hard to find. Well Jim and Jack’s reign supreme in that department.
I would recommend Jim and Jack’s for your auto repair needs. Its one of the last honest autobody shops.

Someone backed into my parked car and I needed my hood fixed. I knew that Jim & Jack’s Collision Center was located centrally between my work and home.
My insurance company gave Jim & Jack’s a heads up that my car was in need of some repairs. I received a call from them and scheduled a day to drop off my car. I dropped off my car and later that same day was given an estimate that my insurance company approved of. Gabriel and the staff at Jim & Jack’s made me feel at ease that my car was in good hands.
Excellent communication about the status of my car via phone and text messages. I just got my car back and it looks great. Thank you Jim & Jack’s for the TLC given to my car. I highly recommend and will continue to use their services in the future.

I have been at J&J a couple of times, and no, am not a bad driver I’ve been the victim of you will. This place provides top customer service and the quality of work is superb. I had my 530 BMW and recently my Nissan Altima serviced here, Gabriel is one heck of a guy, he delivered what he promised and went the extra mile to ensure I was completely satisfied with the work.
I’d recommend J&J to anyone, including friends and family.

Horrible/​Rude Service
The front desk receptionist was rude and short with me. When I walked in to drop off my car for repair I wasnt greeted, I was only asked if I had a reservation. That’s funny because the other two times I’ve had work completed at this location I didn’t have a reservation. But, okay… So I say no I don’t have a reservation my claim’s agent was informed when I’ll be dropping off the car and they said they would let you know. The rude receptionist then said «We don’t take cars on Friday’s.» and as I’m saying «I didn’t know…» she grabs the phone and says to someone «can you come down I have someone from *** insurance WITH A DROP OFF» while giving me a snark look. So a gentleman who I’ve met before comes out who caused the first inconvenience. He’s polite and nice and greets me. I say yes I was here before twice for the inspection. Well, Sir we don’t take cars on Thursday’s and Friday’s so you will have to come on Monday. What’s funny about this is this guy messed up on the first inspection. I came down to this location which was out of my way to have my vehicle photographed for an estimate. This is after having my phone blown up by their call center service asking for me to come down for an inspection twice a day. I have the inspection completed to just be called an hour later… Sorry sir but I forgot to turn the timestamp on the camera you will have to come back tomorrow. WTF, but I’m ok accidents happen. So I go down again after another series of phone calls from their call center service. I have new photos taken. Then the next two days I get my phone blown up again from their call center service asking that I make am appointment for an inspection. So I call Jim and Jack an ask them to stop with the calls. I was told by their representative, the call center service is a 3^rd party they hire. He asked me «Can you call them and ask them to stop?» I tell the gentleman that’s not my job. It’s your company who hired them I did what I was suppose to do, I shouldn’t have to find out who the call center is and wait on hold to speak to someone. So the guy from Jack and Jim saw my point and he got them to stop. So, then I get the okay from my insurance to get my vehicle repaired a week or so later I say I’ll drop it off on Friday. My agent says she’ll let them know, I get to the location and get the rude receptionist. Then I get this guy who tells me to come back Monday. I tell him I’ll just go to another body shop. He says ok, have a good weekend. This is how they treat a customer who has been going there for over 5 years and two different cars. They can mess up and inconvenience a customer but will never do something helpful for you despite their previous foul which you tolerated and returned for service.

Thank goodness for J&J’s, and for Jesse Ontiveros. Recently my lease was plowed into my friend and neighbor who said his insurance would cover my bumper and quarter panel repair. I’d heard good things about Jim and Jack’s from my friend who needed similar work so I called and set up an appointment to bring my car in the next day.
From the staff in front, to the Enterprise rental (I got a nice, clean A4 for a week) to Jesse, I felt confident that I was being treated like family. Jesse gave me periodic updates on my car and answered all of my (many!) questions, since I had never needed collision repair work in the past. He was honest, friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful throughout the process. I picked up my car yesterday and couldn’t be happier. I’m sending my friends there if they every need body work, which is the best endorsement I can give. THANK YOU!

It’s hard to find a body shop that won’t just go the most expensive route for everything. Jim’s and Jack’s staff will work with you and your budget to make sure they are doing sensible work.
I was in a minor accident with another car and my front emblem left an indent in the other person’s back bumper (my car had virtually no damage). When She called her dealership for a quote to fix it, they told her that she needed to replace her back bumper. WHAT seriously? I told her I would take care of it but would like her to bring her car to Jim and Jack’s to see what they can do (thankfully she agreed). After they inspected her bumper to make sure it still has its safety mechanisms intact, they recommended buffing out the light marks rather than replacing the whole thing. That’s what I’m talking about!
The owner of the car was happy with the result, and I paid MUCH LESS than what it would have cost me to replace a bumper at her dealership.
