Welcome to Elk Grove Pet Clinic. My name is Dr. Greg Stram. I’d like to give you some information about Elk Grove Pet Clinic and introduce you to an interesting «resident» that we have here (featured in this video). I opened up Elk Grove Pet Clinic in December of 1992. I have been a resident of Elk Grove Village since 1957.

I grew up in Elk Grove. I went away to college (Iowa State University) to attend veterinary school. I then moved back to the Village right after graduation in 1985. I’ve been back here ever since.

I practiced for one year at Lombard Veterinary Hospital. I practiced for two years at Boone Animal Hospital in Western Springs. I practiced for five years at Glencoe Animal Hospital in Northbrook.

I opened up here in December of 1992. Right now it is I and my associate. We practice veterinary medicine here. We mainly take care of dogs and cats.

Unprofessional and rude front desk staff. Making an appointment for dental apparently can take weeks if you want to know the cost up front. I’m still waiting on the call back on pricing for a dental clean from an inquiry sent over 11 days ago. There are many other Elk Grove Village pet hospitals to choose from, I’d look into those before deciding to come to this one.

Dr Stram and his team are very professional and accomodating. We brought our dog over without an appointment because we were worried and he made time for us even though he was already prepping for a surgery. He made us feel better and our dog, too.

Dr. Stram and his team are wonderful! We adopted 2 kittens from here that were cared for and given excellent care. Each time we return to Elk Grove Pet Clinic, it’s as if we are bringing «family» back to see the team.

After being diagnosed with allergies by another vet my dog continued to act differently. I brought her to Dr. Stram for a second opinion and he recognized she was very ill immediately. She required a blood transfusion because she was so severely anemic due to a blood parasite. He probably saved her life and we are forever grateful. The staff and Dr. Stram are wonderful!

Just moved and I am so thrilled to have found Dr. Stram! He is truly a caring vet and took every measure to make sure my paranoid, overly-​sensitive, epileptic doodle was comfortable before, during, and after the exam.

I have been going to Dr. Stram and the Elk Grove Pet Clinic for at least 20 years. He cared for my first dog, Pippen and after Pippen passed away at the age of 11, is now taking care of my second dog Boscoe. I was immediately struck by his compassion and his obvious love of pets of all kinds. He and his staff has always provided top care for my dogs and I totally trust him. The staff is warm and caring and the clinic is very clean. I would highly recommend him.

We went to Dr Stram based on the excellent reviews on here and proximity to our house with our new dog a few months ago. He came from a rescue and we wanted a get a general wellness checkup and flea and heartworm meds. No shots or anything more complicated. They analyzed his stool and prescribed some meds for worms. All together, the one appt cost us nearly $ 400! We have had horrible experiences since then trying to get medicine for his severe separation anxiety — they took a much longer time than stated to get it ordered and in stock and then gave no instructions on how to administer the medication once it finally came in, no expectations on when to see results, no warnings of side effects, nothing. When we were concerned it wasn’t working, they referred us to a very expensive behavior specialist instead of suggesting another very common medication for separation anxiety. They just don’t seem to care very much and way way way over charge for services. The Doc is nice, seems good with animals, and the assistants there are generally very nice, but the practice needs an overhaul — bad service and REALLY bad prices.

Dr. Stram is possibly the best veterinarian I have ever encountered.
I took my two kitty girls here for routine check-​ups and rabies vaccinations. Dr. Stram was very compassionate, comforted my girls, and answered all of my questions. He even managed to relatively calm my older girl. She only hissed twice. :-) The last 3 vet visits were hisses, scratches, and screams.
And the staff is as sweet as could be. Thanks for taking care of my babies!

Elk Grove Pet Clinic has been our trusted veterinarian forever. I think it’s been 25 years, but they’ve taken us from our daughter’s first Cocker Spaniel to all four of our dogs today. From Dr. Stram to the technicians to the front desk, they’re personal and professional. We consider them family. They’ve handled emergencies and routine care, they’re never reluctant to refer us to other doctors when needed (a veterinarian ophthalmologist, for example), and they’ve been with us from selecting our pets to our final goodbyes. Dr. Stram actually showed up at our door on a Thanksgiving without being requested and without charge to check on and treat a puppy that was having some minor problems. They even arranged for experimental cancer treatment through another facility to prolong and maintain the quality of life for one of our dogs. EGPC has made the quality of our human family’s life better by the sensitive treatment they’ve provided for our much-​loved pets.

We have been going to Elk Grove Pet Clinic with our dog for 11 years now. The staff and Dr. Stram came highly recommended by my daughter who has been going to see Dr. Stram for 16yrs. I was impressed by the concerns for our pet and her treatments as she is a diabetic and she has special needs. Our pet actually loves to go to the Vet as she feels the Love and Care that she receives from Dr. Stram and his staff, she has had some over night visits and she still likes to go back for visits. I have heard some reviews of other Vets in the area, and Elk Grove Pet Clinic is our choice for professional care.

We have taken our pets to Elk Grove Pet Clinic for years. They have fantastic staff and really put your pet first but also take the time to get to know you and your pets, and understand your needs as «parents”/owners too. They spend a lot of time getting to know your pets. Last year one of our dogs was very ill, and they were with us every step of the way with support not only for our dog, but our family too. That is what really differentiates them. You don’t anticipate that you will need that type of care — - until you do.

Dr. Stram and all the staff at Elk Grove Pet Cinic have always been nothing short of wonderful. They have been treating my pets for over ten years now. They are kind, and thorough, and always answer any questions you may have. When I had to put my cat down a few years back, they were very supportive and empathetic. And my dog Ginger loves all the attention she gets from everyone there! HIGHLY recommend Dr. Stram and his staff to anyone who is looking for quality pet care.

I have been coming to Elk Grove Pet Clinic with my dogs since the spring of 1993 and continue to do so. Almost 20 years later and I am as happy as I was the first time I walked in.
Dr. Stram is a natural with animals and it is obvious when watching him interact with them during examinations and treatments. I trust him and his staff implicitly.
Over the years he has treated four of our beloved dogs with the greatest care and love. When it was time for them to cross over the Rainbow Bridge, he and his staff showed sensitivity and respect and offered condolence with patience and privacy.

Dr. Stram has been and always will be our first and only choice. I highly recommend Elk Grove Pet Clinic for all your veterinary needs.

I have been visiting Elk Grove Pet Clinic for many years and I highly recommend them to everyone I know.
Dr. Stram has, quite literally, saved three of my kitties and had given them years more to live. From fatty liver syndrome (after a stressful move,) to kidney problems and regular checkups, I trust Dr Stram completely.
He has been willing to do what it takes to save my pets and has also been honest with me when giving a prognosis.
The team is more than just a clinic. They know the pets and pet owners by name and always offer great suggestions. I cannot recommend them strongly enough.
UPDATE (12/​7/​2014:) MY eldest cat, who is now 17.5 years old, had two seizures back in April. At that time I needed to take him to the emergency room. We were able to get him stabilized and monitor him. The ER (not BluePearl) had offered and recommended an MRI and/​or CAT scan to see what was going on.
I decided to wait and chat with Dr. Stramm. He and I talked very frankly, and I asked him what he would do if this were his cat. He laid it all out, and said that, even if we were to find a tumor, the surgery would be expensive and really only gain a year or two more. His recommendation was to monitor my cat and see if the seizures get worse. If they do, we would talk medication at that time. It has been nearly 8 months and MugWump is still a little weak, but has not has another seizure, and is still as loving as ever.
I truly do like that Dr. Stramm is open, honest, and provides feedback that covers all financial and emotional bases.

Dr. Stram and his team of animal lovers have been a part of our family since 1999. From 1999 to 2001 he took care of our first husky «Sasha». We moved to California late 2001 and she lived until this past March.
Dr. Stram left such a lasting impression upon us, when we purchased our next husky «Kaya» from Oregon in August, and knew we were going to spend 3 months in Chicago, we once again paid a visit to Dr. Stram. Nothing has changed, other than they now have a larger facility and they spent a good 15 – 20 minutes on the floor with Kaya playing, talking and getting her comfortable before her exam.
Sasha will always be a huge part of our family and Dr. Stram will be the only veterinarian in the area allowed to take care of Kaya.
If you want a professional, true animal loving VET, Dr. Stram and his staff at Elk Grove Pet Clinic are outstanding.
