I called 3 times and was told someone would call me back to schedule my move. No one ever did! So annoying.

Just used Midwest Movers to deliver my household goods. Their team did a great job taking care not to damage the house and took care of our items. They put up pads around the doorways, cardboard to protect the hardwood floors, and plastic down on the carpets which was much appreciated! The guys worked effeciently and were very respectful. Great job Ray Shelton, Eric Ocampo, Jose Arroyo, and MacKenzie Drake. You guys were awesome!

Midwest Moving & Storage Inc. handled our move and did a phenomenal job despite our booking being on a shortened timeline, our move being on a high profile move date (June 1), and our move day having absolutely terrible weather. As a result, we highly recommend them to anyone looking for fast and professional moving service.
Our experience with Midwest Moving & Storage Inc. started when our building referred us to them to book elevator time. On the day we called to reserve our elevator time to move from a downtown highrise to an Old Town walkup, we found out that the movers we had originally hired were cancelling on us. We were in hysterics. We knew that we needed to reserve the elevator time regardless, so we called Midwest and they not only reserved the elevator, but offered to do the move for a better price than what we had initially booked.
Our moving coordinator was super helpful as were the other office staff. They arranged the move, got a quote and inventory form out to us that morning and before the day was over, we were fully booked.
On the day of the move, it was raining and cold (gotta love Chicago summer weather). Our movers showed up early and immediately got to work. One of the things we really loved about the move was that they let us take the lead and manage how the movers were working together to optimize time. In past experiences, we have been essentially pushed to the side to «leave it to the professionals,» but this was different. The movers were all very communicative, advising us of how much time we had used throughout the move and alerted us the moment they noticed the moving truck was starting to get full.
Again, in previous moves they would have said nothing, delivered what they could get in the truck and then left us having to figure out how to shlep our stuff to our new home, but Midwest Moving & Storage Inc. was different. They ended up having to make two trips to make sure we got everything from our old house to our new house and did so as fast as possible to save us on the time and labor costs. Mind you — they did this all while it was pouring rain. The movers were soaked to the bone by the time it was all over and not once did they complain or drag their feet. They dug in deep and got the job done!
Now, once the move was complete, there were additional charges for the extra time that we were happy to pay. Also, there were a couple of damaged items, one major one being our LCD TV. While I was minorly upset about the damage (it was bound to happen given the speed with which we were moving and the rain), that minor upset was mitigated by the professional service we received from Midwest Moving & Storage Inc. They worked with us on the damage claim and final bill and after it was all said and done, everything was reconciled in a fair and timely manner and throughout that process, Midwest Moving & Storage Inc. was communicative, fair, and honest.
We have moved across country, across town, from highrise to walkup — you name it. I can honestly say that this was the best move we have ever experienced and we owe it to Midwest Moving & Storage Inc. They did an excellent job on this move and we are confident they would do the same for you for a great price. We will be recommending them to our friends, family and co-​workers and will absolutely hire them for future moves.

This positive review is well overdue. The great experience came to mind as i now prepare for antoher move. In 2012 I moved across town from an apartment in River North to a condo in the Gold Coast area of Chicago. I found Moving Midwest via Unilocal reviews, and Better Business Bureau research.
From the initial call to inquire about move date availability, i was greeted professionally by their office staff, who connected me with a sales rep/​estimator. Paul telephoned, set an appointment, and was on time to visit the apartment to estimate the move time/​cost based on the contents. He was very thorough, and discussed a number of precautions Midwest takes to insure a smooth move, from cellephane wrapping certain furniture, etc.
When the move occurred, they were a little late, but not more than 30 minutes, and they advised in advance of the delay from traffic. The movers were polite, efficient, and overall exercised care in the job. The movers followed all the precautions Paul had previously mentioned. Upon arriving at the new building, the unloaded with the same efficiency and carefulness. They did a great job unassembling and re-​assembling furniture.
Lastly, Paul checked in on us before and after to insure everything was going well.
His sense of accountability to make sure we were satisfied was great.
As i write this note, i am planning to schedule them for my next move and will give an update review afterwards.

Stay away! A rep came to our house to give us a quote for our local move from one 4 bdrm home to another. She quoted us an 8 hr move with 5 men, which seemed reasonable to us. This women really mislead us, she said that their company even had special moving kits for kids. Moving day came and my kids were asking about the kits, which of course they did not have. With the exception of 1, the guys that showed up to move us were the laziest, most out of shape people I have come across in a good long while. I thought one of them was actually going to have a heart attack as he would lift a box and need to sit down to catch is breath. Instead of using wardrobe boxes, they threw all of our hung clothes into boxes leaving me to pick apart the tangled mess. After 6.5 hrs we were still at the old house packing stuff into the truck. They damaged our bedroom set and did not put it together properly, somehow they managed to loose most of the hardware. Our mattress was caving in the middle and my husband had to get hardware to make it right again. They showed up ill prepared for the day with no food and we had to buy them both lunch and dinner. We did this in hopes they would move faster and get the move done, since we were paying by the hour. No such luck, it took them 14 hrs to get finished at a rate of $ 211/​hr, nearly twice the quote. Somewhere in the middle of this, I actually became the sixth man on the job as I realized what this would cost us. I think this company low balls the quotes to get the business and then moves at turtle speed to get more money. Look elsewhere!

I used Midwest for a corporate move to another state, and while our items were in route, our house closing was delayed 45 days. They were very good in accommodating us by providing storage at a reasonable price. Once we moved in, Roger and his team of movers were quick and careful in unloading our items. Kudos to Roger as he was tasked with three hour challenge of reassembling my daughter’s full size bunk bed.
I highly recommend them to families planning to move.

I used Midwest Movers for my recent move from a 3 bedroom home to a rental apartment. The entire process was incredibly smooth, from booking and estimate to final move-​in. No time was wasted. The truck arrived 15 minutes early. Every piece of furniture was wrapped in blankets — even those that were already covered in paper! We were out of my home in an hour and my apartment in the same time period. The movers took boxes to my storage area, thus alleviating extra work for me. I would definitely use them again (hopefully, not soon) and recommend them to all.

I thought long and carefully about a moving company and chose to work with a local company. Unfortunately the experience from the beginning was unpleasant. Rory, the rep, came down on the price some and assured me that they would use previously used packing materials to keep the cost down. This didn’t happen. Then, they day of the packing they used mirror boxes for random stuff, used 3 – 4 boxes for a mirror, and didn’t bring enough packing supplies. I also had to constantly remind them to pack things. Stuff was still laying out towards the end of the day and I had to politely remind the guys to pack these items. The day of the loading my watch was missing by the end of the day. It had been out in plain sight and I know that was careless, but after the truck was almost finished being loaded I went to put it on, and ti was gone. The watch was the last Christmas gift from my Dad before he died and very costly. It had been out in plain sight all day and after opening every box, it is still missing. On delivery multiple boxes were damaged (nothing broken though), several not packed full, and I have a video of them going down the stairs where you can hear dishes clanking because they were not careful. When I got my final bill, Rory completely underestimated the weight and amount of packing materials to be used.
I have filed a claim with them for my watch and the response was that because it was not in the items being moved, they are not responsible. They suggested I file a home owner’s insurance claim. This is ridiculous because I am in the process of buying a home and if there is an open claim, some insurance companies will not insure me on a new policy and/​or my rate would be higher.
Overall, I would not trust this company with a move. I can’t believe how horrible of a process this has been and if you are considering moving, do not use Midwest Moving and Storage.

My experience with Midwest Moving & Storage is remarkable. After experiences with other moving companies that were mediocre or downright horrible, I was shocked at the professionalism, expertise, and trustworthiness of the entire company. Boxes were gently handled and moved safely, furniture was protected and wrapped meticulously, and the entire time the movers were pleasant and polite. I had to leave before the truck was unloaded. When I returned later, I was shocked to find the boxes in the appropriate rooms, clothes hung in closets and bags placed on overhead closet shelves. I was blown away.
I will use Midwest Moving & Storage again, and highly recommend their service!

I needed some furniture moved into public storage as well as some large items moved into and out of my basement. I didn’t think it was a big job, so had to think twice because of the 3 hour minimum but decided to go ahead. (I live in an older home so getting a sectional into my basement required some expertise.) John and Joey showed up right on time and they were fabulous. They worked quickly and efficiently and were super polite. They didn’t even roll their eyes when I changed my mind about something and had them take it off the truck and put it back in the basement – and it was a heavy piece and a very hot day. They were very professional and a pleasure to work with– also thumbs up to Maurice in the office who was my rep.

Midwest Moving & Storage is fantastic! I recommended their services to a biz colleague looking for quotes; not only did they match their previous quotes, but they were timely, professional and left a great impression on the company’s new «home.»
