Elegant Reflections

My mom and I have been going to MiHwa for quite some time… maybe 3 or 4 years now. We never come out of her hair salon disappointed. Her motto is «If you look ugly, I look ugly.» Everytime I get my hair done, I always get nice compliments from people I don’t even know!!! I am very particular with my hair… because not a lot of style goes with my very round face. MiHwa would always suggest what kind of hair style fits my face and the texture of my hair!!! Not all hair dressers would do this!!! Just this weekend, I had an appointment with her and I told her that I wanted to get a pixie cut. But she said, «oh no, your face will just get rounder.» I trust MiHwa with my hair… after all, she is an expert. She did a variation of «the lob» with my hair and I love it!!!

I totally agree with last two reviewers. I just moved from the east coast and I was very worried if I was able to find the hair stylist like I had in NYC for years. When I called the salon for an appointment, Mihwa told me she has been booked for next 3 weeks! She promised me she would check on me while her assistant was dealing with my haircut, and she did. Actually she finished up my haircut between her clients. No offence to her assistant who is also a very good hairstylist, and a very nice and sweet person, but Mihwa is just so talented. She knows how to deal with typical Asian hair and she got what I wanted and gave it to me so perfectly! I loved my hairstylist in NYC and I had a lot of compliment about my hairstyle. But, honestly, Mihwa is the best! I am so glad that I trusted the last reviewer who claimed herself as picky… yes so am I! I also want to tell that the price is very reasonable… more than reasonable. I paid less than half a price I used to pay! I made sure to have her for next my haircut appointment. Believe me and other reviewers, she is that amazing… oh, yes!
One more note, they do not take the credit cards, so you have to pay by cash or checks.

Like the last reviewer, I also found out about Mi Hwa from my mom, who had been urging me to give her a try for years. I was a little hesitant to leave my high-​end salon that I’d been a loyal client of for a long time, but when they couldn’t get me in before my departure for a trip, I decided to call Mi Hwa. She offered to stay after hours for me since I work until 7 pm almost every day. How amazing is that?
Mi Hwa has only cut my hair once, but I can tell you that I’m sold. I was a little skeptical at first because I wasn’t sure if a stylist who cut my mom’s hair would necessarily be good at cutting my hair in the modern styles that I prefer. Boy, was I wrong. Mi Hwa is a true technician, and she’s very precise in what she does. She takes her time to make sure that every single strand of hair is just as it should be. She’s meticulous, talented, and has a great bubbly and warm personality to boot. I’m extremely picky with my hair, but she was able to read my mind and do exactly what I wanted.
If you’re a person that needs to be pampered with scalp massages, aromatherapy, beverages, and the best hair products on the market, then perhaps Elegant Reflections isn’t the right place for you. My last salon had all the bells and whistles, but in the end, Mi Hwa simply gives better haircuts at half the price, and I’m going to be switching to her services from now on. Her salon is simple and straight to the point, but her talent speaks volumes.
Another point to add about Mi Hwa is that she has no online presence and does zero marketing. You can’t even find her in the Yellow Pages. Her salon is in a small strip-​mall that has very low traffic, and you wouldn’t be able to find her salon unless you were actively searching for it. Despite all of this, she manages to stay very busy from word-​of-​mouth referrals alone. I think this says a lot about her talent as a stylist. My mom first found her by asking a co-​worker whose hairstyle she admired where she got her haircut. Now people have been asking me the same. I doubt this review will be read by many, but if you’re looking into Elegant Reflections, I urge you to give Mi Hwa a try. You won’t regret it.

An Extremely Difficult and Picky Hair Client

MiHwa is the owner and the most amazing stylist in the world. She has been doing my mom’s hair for years. She always does a wonderful job. If a color does not set right or she does not like it she always insures to fix it.
I have had MiHwa doing my hair for years as well she always can fit me in and does what I want. The salon is new and beautiful. It is very clean but does not smell like disinfectant!
