Preferred Dental

In June 2015, a permanent crown installed by Dr. Armine Grigoryan came off of my tooth approximately two months after it was first applied. I went back to the office and brought the permanent crown back to her. She proceeded to ‘reshape’ the tooth and applied another, temporary crown, When the Novocaine wore off that afternoon, I experienced intense pain on the right side of my face along with bleeding from the site of the ‘reshaping’. The bleeding continued for three days. I subsequently went back to the office when I could no longer tolerate the pain. Once there, Dr. Ovsanna Grigoryan took an x-​ray of the tooth and deduced that there was an infection that required a 10-​day course of the antibiotic Amoxicillin (500MG). It was at this point that I elected to end my relationship with both Drs. Grigoryan and seek out another provider, as I felt something was terribly wrong given all of my experiences with them to date.
I requested my dental records from the Grigoryan practice and then consulted with two other licensed doctors of dentistry regarding all of the work done by the Grigoryans in 2015, which included the installation of three crowns total. It was the opinion of both dentists that all of the crowns installed by Dr. Armine Grigoryan were technically deficient and needed to be replaced. I then submitted a grievance with my insurance provider, who then had me undergo an independent evaluation by a dentist in their network. While there was not complete agreement between the dentists, there were enough issues detected in the independent evaluation to warrant the insurance company to request that the Grigoryan practice reimburse both myself and the insurance company for some of the work that the practice had performed on the installation of the crowns. In addition to technical deficiencies in the crown work, the independent evaluation completed by the insurance company’s dentist revealed that I have moderate periodontal disease that was evident on x-​rays that were taken by Dr. Osvanna Grigoryan back in February 2015. However, this was the first that I was hearing about it.
I have now spent the last six months having the crowns replaced by another dentist at considerable expense to me in both time and money. I have also experienced TMJ Syndrome for the first time in my life because I had been forced to chew on one side of my mouth for so long waiting to find out the outcome of the grievance that my lateral and medial pterygoid muscles locked up, preventing me from opening my mouth to eat or brush my teeth without intense pain. The jury is still out as to whether I will be approaching the MD Dental Board over this situation as I am still waiting to have the third of the three crowns replaced. This experience has been a nightmare that I would not wish on anyone.

I shamefully don’t take good enough care of my teeth and hadn’t been to the dentist in about two years. I chose to have dental insurance (BlueCross Blueshield Blue Dental) through my employer so that I would be forced to visit the dentist this year. Going through my insurance’s website I was faced with many options, something like 250 dentists in a 5 mile radius. I am bad with decisions but I got lucky with this one!
Everyone at Preferred Dental is pleasant and professional. I had to get 4 cavities filled and Dr. G (nickname) did a wonderful job! I have a detailed history of getting cavities filled so you can trust me. She took her time and was laser focused even though I was the last appointment of the day. Usually it feels odd biting down after a filling and takes a while to get used to (my least favorite part) but this was not the case with Dr. G.
Looking forward to my next cleaning.
PS I believe her mom was/​is also a dentist so the skill clearly runs in blood!

My family goes here, and everyone has a great experience! The entire staff is kind and fun to be around. They show that they genuinely care, and they do quality work each time. I’ve never looked forward to going to the dentist in the past, but Preferred Dental truly changed my mind.
