Love this newly found Korean bakery in Ellicott City! A good selection of bread, some of which are so special and not easily found in American super market! Bought 3 kinds on our first visit and liked them all! Will definitely come back!

The Bing So is so good. The portion is huge too! Good for sharing and their baked goods are delicious.

They served stale mochi in my Greentea Bingsoo. I made a complaint and the employee didn’t even apologize. I generally like Shilla, in fact other locations that I’ve been to in the past(Centreville & Annandale) were fantastic. Although a bit more pricy, I think I’m gonna stick with Tous Les Jour from now on for my Bingsoo craving.

Best cookies ever!!! There’s this cookie called«coffee cookie», it’s like a mocha cookie with a chocolate chip on top. Love those!!! Also their buns are out of this world! I also bought a cute bear cake for my roommate’s birthday and it was great. Soooo moist! Will definitely be back here again!

The people working there are unbelievably rude! I walked out before I bought anything. I was treated so badly I didn’t want to stay there any longer, even less to buy anything! I will never go back there and I will never recommend them!

I go to this bakery pretty often. They have a good baked good selection and they have the«snow» shaved ice now. I think it’s comparable to the other Korean bakeries in the area. I like their coffee drink selection better than the ones from the bakery across the street.

This place doesn’t really wow me. None of the baked goods look terribly appealing. Some of them have this odd artificial look to them… as if they’re not real food. I personally avoid the samples placed throughout the store. Maybe I’m a germ-phobe, but the idea of people breathing over the samples and probably touching them with their hands grosses me out. We had their chocolate bing soo and it was a bit lack-luster…next time we’ll try the fruit one. Overall, this place is fine. I just don’t tend to go out of my way to come here.

Holy BAKERY Batman! I haven’t been to a real bakery in a very long time. This place is awesome, I liked that they had plenty of samples to try and this helped me to over buy. The cakes are beautiful as well as the pastries. The place is cozy and I liked how they had shopping baskets and several sizes of baked goods to choose from. The customer service wasn’t the best, they were standoffish. Excited to find this place regardless and to try more!

This place probably most meaniest place ever. The cashir is very not nice, and just yell out food when they are finished. Drinks too sweet, i have order green tee latte. Will be not back soon

First and foremost, I’m delighted to say that this location is considerably more friendly [and helpfully more English-speaking, though the two are not even remotely the same] than the location in Annandale. Questions were met with actual answers, not fed-up looks and brush-offs, and cheerful help. I can happily add the espresso drinks to the list of reliable things to get here, and will go back for bingsoo once it’s warmer. The ‘mammoth’ is the weirdest [though tasty] pastry version of a PB&J I have ever encountered, and will probably stay on the shelf next time. The walnut cookies are good, but the whole box of them is overwhelming, especially when you already have hwangnam bread which is Also full of red bean paste. The Rice doughnuts and fresh mochi continue to be a hit, and the flat, sesame-studded ‘tapioca red bean bread’ is obscenely chewily wonderful if you want something a little sweet with a lot of texture. My sister would also like to throw in an endorsement for the black milk tea, though she had been a little startled to get boba tea when she expected hot tea instead.

Their cakes are incredible. My boyfriend surprised me with one for my birthday. It was extremely adorable and tasted amazing. We came here for shaved iced over the summer and it was packed with mochi bits and fruit and toppings. So. Good. Their baked goods are«eh» to me. Over-filled and too sweet. We had their coffee for the first time this weekend and it was decent. It’s Illy coffee. It’s a bit pricy but not enough to keep us from stopping in here and there for a treat.

«Meh.» That’s exactly what I thought after I tried my first bingsoo here. I got the fruit bingsoo. It came with canned fruits, watermelon, honeydew, & rice-cakes(mochi) in between shaved ice with honeydew syrup? drizzled on top. There was nothing special about it at all. I paid over $ 6 for shaved ice & canned fruit basically. In total, there was about 10 pieces of watermelon & honeydew and 6 pieces of rice-cakes. The bulk of the bingsoo was shaved ice(obviously) & canned fruit. I feel cheated of my «fruit bingsoo», since I expected FRESH fruits. Like c’mon, it’s not the dead of winter, there’s still fresh fruits in the grocery stores… ALLYEARROUND. I will not return here for their bingsoo. I haven’t tried their baked goods, I get those from across the street at ‘Tous Les Jours’(so delicious). They also offer bingsoo, so I’ll have to give theirs a try after this regretful trip here.

In an area of many Korean bakeries and cafes, Shilla does a few things differently: 1. They recently started adding sandwiches(including breakfast sandwiches!) 2. Many samples, which I LOVE to enjoy! 3. Use Illy coffee(YUM) I can also solidly say that their chocolate cake with chocolate mousse is A M A Z I N G – I really don’t know why anyone would buy a grocery store cake when these gorgeous creations are just across the street! For a few extra bucks, you can have a beautiful and delicious bakery cake(~$ 23 for that 10 inch bear-shaped cake, if I remember correctly!)… We will be back!

Saddens me to give this place a 3 star rating but their bubble teas are absolutely horrible! Doesn’t matter what flavor you get, because trust me ive tried many, they just aren’t good! They taste horribly artifical and I’ve had to throw them away on multiple occasions. They need to step their bubble tea game up because it’s making a huge comeback and they don’t wanna be left in the dust… As far as the other desserts and treats, with all the newer spots that have recently opened, I rarely come here anymore. The mocha roll cake is dry now, bingsoo has been out done by competitors, and their parking always sucks. Latter isn’t their fault but I’ll just stick to grabbing their korean iced coffee for now until they get it together.

The bing soo(shaved ice) at Shilla is delicious! If you don’t know what bing soo is, it’s a dessert that consists of shaved ice, condensed milk, various fruits, mochi, sesame powder, etc. I love red bean so I get the red bean bing soo every time but they also have a lot of other flavors to chose from such as yogurt ice cream, fruit etc. I believe all of the bing soo has fruit but the fruit one just has more fruit. I could definitely finish one by myself because I love bing soo but it is pretty sizable so you could definitely share one between 2 – 3 people. In addition to bing soo, Shilla has a huge selection of various Asian breads and cookies with samples that you can try. Their cakes are also absolutely adorable! Korean cakes tend to be less sweet than your average American cake — many are topped with fruit and cream rather than sugary icing. The sweet potato cake is one of my favorites!

They have great desserts(assorted cakes, cookies, ice cream pops), coffee, bingsoo(ice cream with shaved ice n toppings) There’s limited seating area n can get packed. They’re next to a liquor store. Plenty of parking. You can also get any of those to go. They take credit cards. Be sure to store leftovers in the fridge so they don’t go bad quickly.

It’s really nice to have these bakery’s close by. The bakery has a good selection of items, but I don’t really understand why this bakery(as well as other Korean bakeries here) package their certain goods while warm inside plastic bags. It makes all the items soggy if they sit for a while. Not all of the items suffer this problem, but for the ones that do, I do not buy them unless I know they just came out. For the items I tried(a walnut bread and soboro bun), I thought they were pretty well made and visually appealing. They tasted pretty good as well. Some of the items here are kind of highly priced for what you get, but I think that’s consistent for all the Korean bakeries on Rt 40. One other bad thing is the place gets full and it becomes difficult to find a seat, but the place has a nice feel to it. I’d like to try more items here in the future, but for now, I feel this is a good place to grab some dessert, but nothing outstanding(yet).

Every time I’ve been there so far, the place is packed. It’s so packed you can almost be certain you’ll bump into someone familiar if you stay there too long, haha. Got the mango mousse, tiramisu, and green tea bingsoo. The shaved ice is NOT snow ice(more granular, ice) and green tea is a lump of ice cream. Now that my mind and mouth has been opened to snow ice, this is no longer acceptable to me. Still, they have cute birthday cake designs and the prices are around $ 25-$ 30. However, I just read some of the other reviews from the last 6 months about mold and stuff being found in the cakes/drink/pastries on a few occasions – that really disturbed me! What’s going on, Shilla?!

This place is overrated. I feel like there are many other desert places near by that serve much better deserts than this bakery. When I call they rarely pick up. However, there are samples to taste before you buy your pastries. Also they opened on Christmas and thanksgiving. At least Christmas and thanksgiving of 2014. So maybe they open every Christmas and thanksgiving(however, don’t count on that) call before you go on any holiday!
