History
Established in 1998.
Cordova Gardens opened for business in the fall of 1998. This new retail location was preceeded by Cordova Greenhouses which Joe Cordova Sr. and his wife Martha Cordova started in 1986 one mile east of the gardens on Balour drive. Cordova Greenhouses was the first greenhouse operation in Encinitas to sell to the public with out a minimum purchase amount. The greenhouse now serves as a growing ground for the Gardens and is no longer open to the public.
The first incarnation of Cordova Gardens was a small tent like structure on Encinitas Blvd where Poinsettias were sold durring the holiday season. The Following spring concrete pottery and fountains were laid out in rows where old avocado trees once stood. With time more of the land was cleared and metal framed greenhouse structures were built to house tropical plant material.
Over a decade later Cordova Gardens is known by designers, builders, landscapers, and home owners for best selection of tropical plants, succulents, and more.
