I seriously can’t believe I haven’t written a review for this place yet. I’ve been coming here since I bought a groupon a few years ago for the VersaSpa spray tan. So glad I did that because I’ve been coming here for a spray tan for all of my special events :)
They are also super friendly and accommodating. I’ve always gotten the day and times I’ve needed. The spray tan here is wonderful! Mine hasn’t ever turned out orangey or smelled bad. I feel pretty confidant getting a tan here 1 or 2 days before I’m going on a trip, being in a wedding… etc. I really love that they have instructions on how to stand while doing the VersaSpa as well so that you don’t miss any spots… pretty important ;)
I usually buy their packages when they have them. 1 VersaSpa spray tan is $ 25 but when they have package deal it’s like 5 tans for $ 59 so it’s a pretty good deal. I also really love the location. Such a cute little shop and right next to the beach! What more could a girl want?!

Shanthi was wonderful! I was a bit apprehensive about getting an airbrush tan since I’ve had a bad spray tan in the past, but I’m glad I chose this spot. With a gnarly runner’s tan and my bachelorette party approaching, I booked an appointment the night before I was to go out of town. They came through big time.
Shanthi took great care to prep my fresh mani/​pedi (which I didn’t even think to protect) before the spray. She also made me feel completely comfortable which is huge when you’re stripping down to nothing and on display. I really felt like she took her time which was awesome considering airbrush tans aren’t cheap. She asked if I was coming back for the wedding and, if so, to note what days my tan looked best this time around so I would know when to book the appointment for the big day. I really appreciated her attention to detail and my tan looked fabulous. I kept waiting to look horrendous with patches of pale white as my tan faded off but it’s been a full week and still looks pretty darn good. I love that the actual shade can be modified to your skin tone, so you don’t look all Jersey Shore.
The only downsides were: 1) smell (to be expected) and 2) the fact that they charge $ 4 for a shimmery baby powder sample to take home. It’s a rip off in terms of size and I really didn’t even need it after all.
Regardless – they still get 5 stars for customer service and quality. Can’t wait to go back!

Thanks for the amazing nails and great experience, Java! I really like the fact that I can leave the salon and not have to worry about grabbing my keys, fastening my belt or anything else. It’s so efficient and perfect for my business trips that end up ravaging my nails.
Edit: this AMAZING manicure lasted three weeks!

Good location, clean salon, great monthly deals, and Christina is always so friendly when I come in. Had to take off one star because I had an appointment for Versa and they let a walk in go right before me and she took a very long time so my appointment ran late (this usually doesn’t happen so hopefully it was just a fluke).

Great salon. Salon’s have always made me feel out of place and uncomfortable, but Deep Tan is very private and personal. I bought a spray tan package, and for my visit the woman at the front was very helpful and walked me through the process. Customer Service is on point.
My spray tan turned out nice. (Verspa). I used the light color with a gradual bronzer which the gal recommended and I’m glad I took her advice and didn’t go darker.
The salon itself smells nice, is very orderly and extremely clean, which is very important to me. They also offer nail services, body wraps and more.
I usually make an appointment the same day I want to go in after work, just in case it might get busy.

You can’t beat the prices and the amazing staff here! The beds consistently give me great color, unlike other places that seem to rarely change the bulbs out.

There is only one person working on a Friday before a long weekend. The person who sprays people took someone back that showed up late for her appointment and had me wait for the Vera spa 20 minutes despite me being on time (arriving prior to the other person) and no one was even in the versa spa. Definitely need more people staffing this place and learn how to deal with customers. I just saw 4 people leave very frustrated.
I gave 4 stars because I’ve never had a problem here before and once they even saved my diamond necklace I left in a room, but that was a different person.

I have been to many other tanning salons (itan, for example) and NOTHING compares to Deep Tan and Spa. Employees are always extremely friendly and always recommend the perfect products. Tanning beds are always super clean and I rarely have to wait for a bed. From what I hear the spray tans are excellent as well. I got the 39 days unlimited for $ 39, and I plan to extend my membership because of my positive experience. DO NOT spend extra money at other chain tanning salons because Deep Tan and Spa is where its at!!!

Good place in general with a location in Carlsbad as well. I’ve known one of the owners for awhile as she’s a runner and I’ve seen her at all the major half marathons. Customer service wise: great if it’s the owners… annoying if it’s one of the younger employees. They just think of themselves or girls working at a tanning salon, not a business. As for the tanning– definitely good value. They run packages throughout the year and in my opinion are very affordable. Nice, clean, and simple. Recommended.

Just started coming here after having been with itan for the past two years. I have to say I love it WAY more! The staff is all very very friendly and helpful! I will definitely be staying at this salon

Come here every time before big events or date night and Kristine always does a great job airbrushing. She starts by asking me what color I want to get to, and then never fails to get the tan to perfection. She is honest about how the tan will look and develop over time and will make recommendations on care so the tan lasts longer. Overall, the spa is always clean and feels very serene. Some tanning places can seem very industrial, but this place is very calming and clean. Also, java is the nail lady here and she does awesome nail designs :) Ask her about using foil on your shellac!

Great customer service. Nice and clean. I would recommend this salon to all my friends. They offer really great specials on Groupon and in the salon.

I had a little accident at the gym a few weeks ago and although I know the 7″ long green bruise on my shin would be a real conversation starter at my cousin’s upcoming wedding, I thought I little tan-​o-​flauge was in order.
The last spray tan I had was a Mystic tan about nine years ago when the technology was fairly new. Wow, it’s come a long way since then and if you are looking for a spray tan I highly recommend Deep Tan and Spa’s «VersaSpa» tanning machine.
For starters, I immediately felt more relaxed upon stepping inside the salon/​spa. It has a soothing interior which perfectly compliments the friendly, knowledgeable and reassuring staff. The person who was there on Sunday night was really friendly. She helped pick the right color spray for my skin gave me a thorough demonstration on how to get a proper tan. I appreciate that she made the time to make my experience a good once.
The VersaSpa room has some thoughtful touches — a fully body mirror, a can of deodorant and toasty climate to keep you warm. I know the comment about the deodorant sounds odds but you’re not supposed to wear any when you tan so you can see why some people may be anxious to spray a little on post tanning.
Also, I think Deep Tan and Spa might the right choice in selecting a VersaSpa for spray tanning. It gave me a very nice even coat of SoCal glow. The machine has a heater too which makes it less chilly than other products. Also, I like that VersaSpas have driers in them too.
I can’t wait to go back. Hello tan. Goodbye UV rays.

Super friendly and a hell of a air brush tan!
I stopped in here for a last minute omg photo shoot coming up situation, and was nervous as it was my first time there: No need to be, they were professional and skilled and my skin ended up flawless and sun kissed, just like I wanted! Not orange and they also use a powder method to make sure your arms, elbows, and backs of knees dont smear while drying.
It was buy one get one free, which I used a few weeks later, again, perfectly done! So much so that the time AFTER that I bought a 4 pack to keep me sun burn & cancer free (but still Cali girl golden) for the next couple months.
They offer a selections of lotions, beds, other spray tan options, and a few retail items too! Great location near the Lofty Bean on the ground floor of The Loft Condos.

I LOVE this place !
I originally came in on a Groupon for 2 Versa spray tans.
I had done Mystic tans before and was okay with them for special occasions.
I can not do the tanning beds because I have already had skin cancer, just too risky for me. So the spray is the only option for my ghostly white Irish skin…
I had never heard of Versa, but after the first one I was sold!
NOT orange-​y in the slightest, totally natural looking, and you can choose the level
of color you want. Additionally, you can choose to have instant bronzing or not.
It is not streaky, nice even color, and I am in-​and-​out in 15 min.
The Versa tan lasts for about 5 days for me.
It would be nice to have it last longer, but I think that is also dependant on what kind of soap, shampoo, moisturizers and other products you use.
After my 3 groupon tans were up, I was offered a special package to buy more at at GREAT price. I jumped at the chance, it was a great deal… even less cost per tan than the groupon.
They also offered me an after-​spray-​tan moisturizing option.
The first few tans I did not use it, since I moisturize on my own.
Then they gave me a free one !
SOLD again!
The moisturizing treatment (basically another spray after the tanning spray)
not only cuts the (somewhat annoying) tanning ‘smell’ way down,
it makes the tan part last maybe another day or so longer.
I made a deal with Tim at the front desk to add the moisture treatments to my remaining package, again at a GREAT price.
All in all, even though this place is kind of out of the way for me,
the hours are great, the people more than friendly, the prices more than reasonable, but most importantly, a great product…

The girls who have worked at the desk when I come in are always so sweet, nice and helpful. The helpful part was important since I hadn’t been in a tanning bed since 1998 and things have changed juuuuust a bit.
My tan is lookin good for my wedding!

Tanning at it’s best is all I have to say. If you’re looking for a great tan all year round this is the place. New, modern beds with all the latest tech. Neat, clean with very friendly service. They have all levels of beds and great deals to go with them. As a member you get great perks on lotions and monthly rates.
