What a cup of coffee! While on a «staycation» with my husband, we were ready for a great cup of coffee(or 2) — we decided to try this place out and we are so glad we did! We both had a basic cup of house brew coffee– holy goat was the brew of the day, and it was great! Rich tasting, almost creamy in texture. They offer sugar cubes, which I really enjoyed! I’m a cream and sugar kinda gal, but not too much of either– I love the taste of coffee, and you really get it there! Refills are a buck, and I feel, worth it. Also, they roast all their coffee beans in house(I think that makes a difference!) thanks for a delicious start to our day!

Don’t ask me what the connection is, because I do not know for sure, but in my last visit to Encinitas I went to Coffee Coffee and there was this rack full of Revolution Roasters coffee bags for sale, plus a bunch of sacks full of beans piled on the side, right there in the store! Oh, and of course there was a coffee roasting machine there too! Originally I had thought I was going to a Revolution Roasters store for a cup of coffee, but google map lead me to this place and there it was, Coffee Coffee! Anyway, I guess Coffee Coffee is the name of the café and Revolution Roasters uses their space to roast coffee for them and their customers to purchase! Oh, I don’t know! All you need to know is that the coffee tastes great, OK?!

We ADORE this coffee! Giants Head and Nightshift are so wonderful and bold. It’s all we drink at home now! For a town with lots of coffee to choose from, Revolution is the best by far!

The aromatic vapor of recently roasted and brewed coffee as you approach Revolution Roasters puts you in a state of exuberance that is almost as enjoyable as drinking a cup. A great coffee starts with great roasted coffee beans. There’s a physics equation that proves this. I think it was in «The Theory of Everything». It states the fresher the better. And it doesn’t get any better than going to the place that roasts your beans. At Revolution Roasters, they use a German Probat roasting machine. Probat built the world’s first spherical coffee roaster on the banks of the Rhine River. For almost 150 years now, Probats have been bringing the heat but still rely on the operator’s skill and human senses to accomplish the task. I mean, I get it– times change. But I’m never gonna enjoy reading a novel written by a cyberbot; nor a stage play performed by 3D holograms; nor a coffee made by a machine without human input. Humans still matter, right? This artisan style of roasting results in hand-crafted coffee that stands on its own, black, without cream or sugar; or cardamom; or bacon; or quinoa. Black. What you end up with is a symphony of unified but contrasting tastes, flavors, and textures — each element following the same beat, but doing it’s own part in excellence to achieve this greatness. I ordered a pour-over of their Guatamalan single-origin, seasonal roast. The slow-drip brewing technique produces a single cup made to order. The beans are coarsely ground using a burr-grinder. The grind is then placed in a filter-lined funnel. Finally, almost-boiling water is delicately poured over the grind, pausing at first to let the roast«bloom» and Co2 escape. About 4 minutes later, the warm infusion is ready– the consummation of many months of field-work, gentle rains, skilled cultivation, delicate harvesting, and passion-filled handiwork. Light, bright, fruity, caramel, charred, and nuanced. A sip reaches deep… your 3-ring sh*t show of a life is forgotten, your day’s challenges remote… you are savoring the moment, glad to be alive. Revolution Roasters is truly a «destination» coffee spot. Casual, peaceful, unhurried, euphoric — beckoning back to a simpler time. And they’re opening a second location soon in South Oceanside. «Viva La Revolucion!» #CoffeeCrawl #VivaLaRevolutionRoasters #TheoryOfEverything

I love how the storefront of Revolution Roasters simply consists of a logo and a sign that says: Coffee. When you see the logo — you know you have arrived! No need to be wordy here… rest assured you have come for freshly roasted coffee here! My husband ordered a pour over and myself a mocha. I knew I had a lot of studying ahead of me for the day and needed mocha motivation! We both found our coffee beverages to be satisfying. The patio is fairly large and may at times be difficult to find a seat, but we did manage to score one of two tables available. I believe ambiance is one of the more important factors in any place and Revolution has this. In addition, this is one for my «Woof Friendly List».

This little coffee place is very hidden! I posted a photo of the entrance because as you can see, «Revolution Roasters» and their address was nowhere to be found. It’s next to a surf shop called«Surfy, Surfy», and a few doors south of «papagayo» restaurant. It’s a good sized place with shady outside tables, a very pleasant spot to have some coffee and chat. Of course, the coffee is great! I had an americano, wasn’t bitter and it was pleasantly strong. I didn’t have time to purchase some coffee beans, but I will go back to try their Oaxacan and the Guatemalan, which are usually my favorite beans. The staff was nice and our coffees came out immediately, maybe because we missed the rush hour. I hope they’re successful! Their being so hidden and not easy to find might be something they should consider fixing.

Great little spot! Food was delicious and fresh! This place was connected to a surf shop next door and offers a large patio for lounging. It’s also dog friendly the coffee was alright… but kudos for roasting in house. Self serve/counter.

Picked up a pound of their espresso roast at the leucadia farmer’s market on a whim. Really pleased that I did. I’ve been looking for decent locally roasted coffee forever, and consistently surprised that SD had so little to offer. For the past few years I’ve been ordering from Blue Bottle(ridiculously expensive), or picking up month-old roasted intelligentsia at whole foods. Illy medium has been the fall back — also stupid expensive and very pedestrian roast. As far as locals — I find bird rock too citrusy — almost acidic in their roast, and I recently started buying Zumbar, which is also really quite good. So… in terms of Revolution, what I love so far about this roast is the exceptional balance, low acidity, and depth of flavor I can pull from my Rancilio using these beans. They are very consistent, use very high quality beans, which produces a perfect body on the shot, and works really well for both mixed drinks(cappuccinos, etc) and pure shots. Kudos guys… you are my go-to from here on in… I’m looking forward to exploring more roasts, and evangelizing you guys to friends and fellow coffeeheads.

If one word could describe Dan Scheibe and the Revolution Roasters team, it would be perfection. Dan has a way of artistically crafting his roasts to perfection, with labor profiles that vary from dark chocolate, to bright notes of fruity South American roots. Dan also takes pride in educating everyone not only on the flavors and origins of his roasts, but also the roasting process &a how he creates this godly nectar. Buy his phenomenal coffee, & support your local roastery.

OK I was already excited to be moving to Leucadia, but after discovering the coffee here(walking distance from our new place!!) I am even more excited. This is the best coffee I have ever tasted. I can imagine we’ll be down each Sunday to get our cuppa and a week’s supply of roast for at home grinding and pressing. Giving up caffeine is definitely OFF of the NY resolutions list.

Been buying coffee from Dan for the couple months now for my business and it is top-notch quality. There is a time of variety from light to dark roasts. He has been super helpful and informative and he gives great customer service.

I am seriously addicted to this coffee! I get the house roast and grind it at home, just smelling it is enough to make me happy. Drink it everyday on my way to work with some sugar in the raw and soy creamer. Love it, yum.

Life is short, don’t drink crappy coffee(I.e. Starbucks). While not the best latte I’ve ever had it was certainly in the upper echelon. Great fair trade coffee served with friendly service in a very relaxed environment. I recommend taking a few minutes to sit outside on the patio near the ocean and enjoy a quality cup of joe.

Great coffee! If you are a fan of Pete’s — you will love this coffee! It is strong but not acidic — and it is a plus that it sustainably grown — Nice to support a local company and not a chain! Great atmosphere too with seating outside for the sunny days!

Yes, I am a coffee snob, and yes, this is officially one of my top three favorites in San Diego. I prefer this over Peet’s(though Peet’s is the best of all the chains), Pannikins, and even La Costa Roasting. The coffee is perfectly balanced(not too much acidity), the baristas are friendly and nice, and the method used to roast is very unique. The fact that they are dedicated to buying beans that are high quality and sustainably grown is a plus.
