Love, love, love Kristin and SugarCoated SkinCare. My make up no longer looks funny as it clings to peach-​fuzz. I have never ONCE had an ingrown hair (something I always had with waxing). Every month is a delightful experience.

Kristin is the absolute best! I’ve used several different waxers in the past. Not only is sugaring a superior option, but Kristin herself is much better than the people I’ve worked with in the past. She made me feel at ease from the beginning — she’s sweet, funny, and patient. She’s happy to answer any questions and walk through the steps with you. I’ve never thought sugaring was too painful, but she offered to take breaks or show me breathing techniques to make the process practically painless. Most importantly, Kristin always does a thorough job, she remembers my preferences, and she always offers to let me come back for touch-​ups if I find anything I’m not happy with (I’ve never had to, though!). She truly wants each of her clients to leave happy every single time, and she always delivers.

I love sugaring and Kristin who do the sugaring is so good on it. She always makes sure that you are pleased with her service. She always takes her time and not in rush. She’s very easy to talk to and you don’t feel awkward at all. This is my 3^rd or 4^th time sugaring on her and I love it. I’ve been sugaring for over 2 years now and she’s one of the best. I highly recommend getting sugared by her cuz she’s very awesome…

I have been sugaring for a year or so but driving down to PB because I didn’t know there was someone closer who did it. I bought a groupon and decided to try SugarCoated Skincare. I was so pleased with the results! i have very sensitive skin and usually have problems with waxing and even the sugaring I was doing. Kristin was amazing! She is professional and it barely hurt at all. I would recommend her to any one who gets a little anxious about this very personal service.

In visiting a friend in Encinitas recently, she surprised me in treating me to both a massage and a sugaring around my bikini area with Kristin. She has been seeing Kristin for years, and has always expressed to me how skilled and wonderful she is.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised with my treatments and wished Kristin lived in Vegas, so I can see her on a more regular basis!!!
I have been getting massages for as long as I can remember, and Kristin, by far gave me one of the best massage treatments I have ever had. She TRULY knows what she is doing, and always made sure that I was comfortable and relaxed.
As for the sugaring, it was my first time experiencing this technique, and… my first time to have the hair removed around my bikini area. I expected SOME discomfort, but Kristin was so fast and gentle that the pain passed quickly. And I love the fact that she was using natural ingredients to remove the hair with.
Aside from her techniques, Kristin has a lovely and nurturing disposition about her (wonderful bedside manners), and her location and room are welcoming and relaxing.
I guess you can say… I can’t recommend her enough, and will definitely want to see her again when I’m back in the San Diego area. Unless… Kristin is willing to come to Vegas?!

The best way to find my location (you won’t see any «SugarCoated Skincare» signs from the street) is to look for «1038» S. Coast Hwy 101 — «Utopia Lounge». They are at the front of the building I am in. Once you park, go to the south side of the building (next door to «Encinitas Ale House») and take the stairs to the second floor. I am at the top of the stairs and to the right — «1042».
Parking is available on the street or in the lot behind my building (2^nd and J St.).

Unfortunately this morning July 8^th at 9:10 when I showed up to my appointment the gate was still locked and Kristen was not there. I tried calling and she picked up my second call into her.
*** I was told VERY RUDELY that because I did not confirm my appointment, she canceled it last night via email. I was also told that «In this day and age of communication I should have confirmed.» Apparently it was my fault that my appointment was canceled 12 hours before I was to show up. Please see email below that was sent at 8:44pm last night:
Hi Sabrina — I am cancelling your 1 Hour Massage for tomorrow, Mon ⁷⁄₈ at 9:30am, since I have not received a return email nor phone call from you confirming this appointment.

Please note that the call and email were sent yesterday Sunday, July 7^th (less than 24 hours before my «scheduled» appointment). I was working all day and did not check my email nor my voicemails. I have NEVER had to confirm an appointment in order to keep it (ie doctors, dentists, facials, hair cuts, etc). I respect others time as I would like my time respected as well. When my appointment was made I was sent the above email that said, «If you need to make any changes, please provide at least a 48 hour notice.»
WOW…I would have appreciated the same notice in return. Maybe it was a long weekend and she didn’t want to show up for a GROUPON holder. So unprofessional, I will NEVER do business with her again and will advise anyone I know to think otherwise.

This was my first time sugaring, but I did a Brazilian wax a couple months ago. The wax lady was done in under 15 minutes and did not even take off all the hair (it was a highly rated place on Unilocal BTW). On the other hand, Kristin was meticulous and encouraging. It was painful at certain areas but overall not as bad as waxing. She also told me a lot about the background behind sugaring, and I am definitely convinced. Despite being the only employee, she responded to me quickly through email and was flexible about scheduling changes. Honestly, it looks pretty nice down there: D
Tips:
1. Call her before you buy the groupon!
2. Call her to clarify parking and directions so you’re not going to arrive late like I did
3. Kristin advises to exfoliate daily (wait 24 hours after sugaring though) to clear away dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs.
4. You won’t be able to see her shop from the street. Although you enter a small entrance way, the place is actually upstairs and very breezy and quaint.
5. Since I am a noob at sugaring and waxing in general, the process took around 45 minutes.

Kristen was very easy to reach and communicate with to set up an appt. She was incredibly professional, thorough, and the brazilian sugar was so much less painful than my last one at a different place — I couldn’t believe the difference. She took her time and had great attention to detail. Would definitely recommend!

I have been getting sugared on and off for a couple of years now and since I recently moved away from my regular sugaring place up in LA I decided to try this place. All I can say is that I was amazed by the person who sugared me. Kristen was very prompt at returning my phone call so I could set up an appointment that would fit my schedule.
It was very easy to find, Kristen gave me very good directions and I was able to park in the street («I» street if I remember well) but I also noticed that there was parking in the back for customers. The place is also very welcoming and peaceful.
I had my underarms, Brazilian, and legs sugared and was extremely satisfied by the services rendered. Very little pain and absolutely perfectly smooth skin.
She also mentioned that she also does facials and massages which I can’t wait to make appointments for.
All I can say is that you will not be disappointed. I wasn’t and I am very picky!

My experience was very good for a Brazilian. Very thorough and professional. However, afterward, when the hair started growing back, I have never had so many ingrown hairs, and I have had a lot of Brazilian waxes. I’ll stick to waxing.

I had the best Brazillian ever from Kristen at her wonderful salon in Encinitas. Sugaring is so much better than waxing, I have never been so perfectly silky smooth with no blotchiness or missed hairs like I always had after the many waxings I have had at numerous salons across the US.
The salon is so peaceful and relaxing and Kristen is so proficient that it was more relaxing than painful to have the hair removed.
I was curious about sugaring when I scheduled my appointment with Kristen and she took the time to explain the process and the benefits over waxing… less pain, more hygienic, better hair removal, and less chance of ingrown hairs.
I booked my next appointment before I left, this is definitely the best for hair removal. I’m anxious to try her other services… I think I’ll add a facial in for next time.

I have never had a good experience getting my bikini waxed but purchased the Groupon anyway b/​c I heard sugaring is less painful than waxing. I bought the Brazilian but probably only used about ¾ of it. It’s definitely still painful but no where near waxing. However, I think I am just super sensitive b/​c after a while I had had enough. There are certain areas that are more sensitive than others. ;)
Anyway I will be returning for just a simple bikini wax. Kristen is super knowledgable, patient and professional. Her salon does it’s best to make you very relaxed and comfortable for what can be a very strange and uncomfortable experience.

My first time ever getting a brazilian since shaving is just so convenient! So this review might be a bit biased since I have no other experience to compare to, but for a first timer this place was great!
Kristen is super nice and chill. Her salon is also very cute, charming and relaxing to be in. During my session she was very informative, and she was receptive to my nervousness and all my questions.
When my session was complete she offered all kinds of little samples for me to take home and gave further detailed instructions verbally and written for at home care.
I felt very relieved that my first time was with someone so helpful, understanding and sweet. Thanks Kristen you’re awesome!

This was my first time experience with sugaring hair removal. Kristin clearly explained the process and was very careful. She made me feel very relaxed. She will also provide information for post sugaring at-​home care to make sure you understand how to prevent regrowth of in grown hair and maintain good skin conditioning. Kristin also gave me samples (sea salts, mud mask, and moisturizer) to take home with me to test try. I felt this was excellent customer service, and she cares about the client’s overall experience and has a depth of knowledge in skin care therapy.

Kristin is very professional and friendly. The salon is cozy and inviting. I highly recommend SugarCoated Skincare!

Kristin is very professional and at the same time very welcoming. I regularly get waxed and the sugaring experience is less painful than waxing. It was a great introduction to her salon and services and I will definitely be going back!

I’d never tried sugaring as an alternative to waxing, and saw a groupon and figured I’d give it a try.
Great little salon in Encinitas, Kristin is the owner and she knows her stuff!
Honestly, I’d say about 50% less painful than waxing, and my skin didn’t get all red afterward. I think this is a fantastic alternative to waxing, and will absolutely be back!

I first learned of sugaring a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try. Kristin the owner (and therapist) was great. I have also had several full body massages from Kristin and I have now become a loyal customer. I love SugarCoated and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in skincare and massage therapy (as well as hair removal) :)
