I have used the team at New Generation and MyHandymanlist many times and I LOVE them. My home was a fixer upper and I went threw so many creepy and unprofessional people I was never happy until I found Mario and his team. They have always done great work and kept my house clean and safe while they work. They did so well at the carpentry.

Great company, used them 3x now, had a hiccup during the second experience and even that was handled with the utmost professionalism. Marisela called to follow up and made sure that anything that fell through the cracks was addressed immediately!

I’m very happy to say that I have found an excellent handyman service with My Handyman List! After a solid week and a half of asking friends for referrals (um, they didn’t have any!), and going through and contacting many handyman services on Unilocal,I decided to go with My Handyman List. Here’s why. They are extremely responsive, provided a clear, written estimate, and they are licensed and insured. These aspects alone separated them from almost all of their Unilocal competitors.
Here’s why I will definitely be calling them again. They showed up on time, did an excellent job, and on top of it all, they are just really nice people! Each and every one of these factors is extremely important when you are trusting someone to come into your home!

I’ve enjoyed working with Mario and Marisela on a variety of projects — both for my office and at home. As a first-​time home owner and now a business owner, I’ve had to deal with my fair share of contractors — unfortunately.
Why I enjoyed working with this company is because they were every bit as capable as other contractors (and frankly more so) while also being good consistent communicators. Whenever we discussed an estimate or timeline, both Mario and Marisela gave me timely honest answers — often making suggestions that were better than what I had brought to them for no extra cost.
Further, the Handyman service has the added benefit of a contractor behind it. As somebody who has trouble changing a light bulb, it’s been nice to work with their handyman team knowing full well that if any issues come up, they have a knowledgeable resource in Mario to consult with.
I’d strongly encourage anybody who’s been burned by contractors and handymen before to give these guys a shot.

You know when you find a great, honest, hard worker and you just want to tell everyone about him so that he can get lots of business because he’s a good person who deserves success? That’s how I feel about Mario! He’s a family man and we found about him because he had donated his services to a MOPS (Mom’s group) benefit. I ended up being the lucky winner! It says a lot about his character that he would donate his time, energy, and money towards a fundraiser. We now have a handyman for life.
Mario is a perfectionist. He’s timely. He’s cheap. Call him up, you won’t regret it.

I am married to a really great guy, but when I hand him my «Honey Do List» he gets glassy eyed and hands it back to me. I found this company on Unilocal and called them.
We made an appointment and just like magic… they showed up on time, work was clean and everything on my list was done. A fair price and easy to work with. Mario the handyman, is absolutely amazing. Whatever work we need done, he always does a great job. Always very professional, timely, friendly, and the quality of work is consistently great. It’s hard to find someone to do things exactly the way you’d do them, with great care and attention to detail. Mario seems like the type of person who takes pride in his work and in doing so, it really shows that he strives for the best.
We’ve been using this service for about a year now and we’ve never been let down whatsoever. Marisela is also really great. She’s responsive to emails and is always willing to accommodate our scheduling needs.

We worked with My handyman List after reading a recommendation on a local blog I follow. We were very happy with the work: painting, minor plumbing, finishes, etc.
Most importantly, we were happy with how honest they were. We are always afraid of people trying to sell us on things we don’t really need. They actually advised us against unnecessary work.
Carlos, the gentleman who did most of the work, is a gem. He is kind, patient, and super polite. In addition, the entire team was very patient with us as we requested extra work or touch ups, or working around our travels and/​or sleeping newborn.
We will definitely have them back for future projects.

I used the Handyman list twice in the last month. They also do business as New Generation Construction (license 938 552).
Here is my experience. I contacted them by email and dealt with Marisela, the owner’s wife. As they are a small business she seems to help him out, apart from her own full-​time job. So the speed of the email replies is inconsistent from within the hour to a couple of days. The rate is $ 65/​hour, regardless of the nature of the job.
First time: I had Mario install an attic fan that I purchased from Costco. The fans instructions said, that it should take less than 2 hours for the average DiY’er. What struck me as odd, and a bit unprofessional, is that he asked me to climb into the attic to make sure the fan was centered over the hole he cut into the roof. Yes, I am still relatively young and spry, but since when do customers have to help? I guess he forgot his white chalk and measuring tape to do it himself. It took him a little over two hours. He only charged me for the two. The job ended up looking good and since he helped me taking down a decrepit awning (which was a 2-​person job) I was relatively happy that day.
Second time: This time we wanted Mario to install quarter-​round molding on the ceiling between ceiling beams, install molding along the floor and transitions for a hardwood floor my wife put down. The first time he was there Mario quoted about 5 – 6 hours for the items to be completed. I booked him for 5, knowing full well it will probably take six (I always add 10−20% on every estimate), as such things usually go. I also provided pictures two days before, so Mario could do a material run ($ 50) for the necessary items. I already had the quarter-​round for the ceiling on hand and I provided two options for the floor molding including SKUs should one be out of stock. I also provided dimensions necessary for the transitions and pictures of where the transitions should be installed. He showed up over an hour late, claiming that he stopped at three Home Depots trying to find the molding I requested. Here is the rub. If you have a Home Depot SKU you can ask at the customer service desk if they have the item in stock, and if not in that particular store which store would have it. There is never a reason to drive to multiple Home Depots, unless you are unfamiliar with the process. An experienced contractor would know that. In the end he called me twice, telling me neither item was in stock, and that he found another similar molding. He showed up with the some material, and without all the necessary transitions to actually complete all the items on the list. So even before showing up, he knew that he didn’t have everything to do the job. It would have been nice to be informed ahead of time that it wouldn’t get done, as I took time off in order to be at home for this ordeal. Also then I could have had the actual items we wanted in the first place delivered for free directly from Home Depot.
It took Mario over 3 hours to cut 20 pieces of quarter-​round to size. Yes, they were odd angles, but that means it took him still 10 min per piece, to measure a piece of wood of about 20 inches in length and two angles on the end and attach it to drywall with a nail gun. You can decide for yourself if it is fair to pay someone $ 65/​hour for this.
My wife was getting irritated by the pace of the work and was not happy that the items we agreed upon would not be completed that day. So she inquired how the business usually handles issues like this. And here is why I am giving this business one star instead of two. Mario responded: «I am not sure. You can contact the office.» At this point I was more than disappointed and I started researching the business. Low and behold, Mario turns out to be Mario Arechiga and Marisela is wife and they own the business. So the owner lies directly to my wife, pretending he is just another lowly employee, because he lacks the integrity to give a straight forward answer. I don’t do business with with liars. Ok, maybe liar is a strong word, but at minimum deceitful. The follow up emails weren’t much better and tried to excuse their short-​comings rather than actually address my concerns. Anyone interested feel free to contact me trough Unilocal and I will forward my email communication. I could go on, but I have some floor molding to install.
So to sum up my second experience: Unprepared, slow, dishonest & unprofessional.
Edit in response to the owner comment: In one word incompent. Workmanship with installing quarterround?! You can’t be serious? Mario even lied that T-​Molding had to be purchased at a specialty store. Low and behold the T-​molding that was needed was right next to the quarterround he purchased. And yes, I didn’t pay more than was agreed upon, except for the fact that you only did half the work that was agreed upon which basically made it twice as expensive. You people are shady!

He was on time, friendly, clean, fast and honest. Got the job done. We will be calling him back to do repairs when we need them.

My Handyman List was a godsend find when my husband and I moved into our home and realized that our dryer hookup didn’t work with the outlet. We called last minute and a handyman came to our house that same day and fixed the problem for us, replacing the outlet. We called later for another project, which was completed beautifully. No doubts we’ll have future projects and will draw on this group. I can’t recommend them highly enough — they’re professional, accountable, responsible, and capable of handling myriad and complicated projects — including hanging an extremely large grapevine up a chimney (our 2^nd project). A wonderful and needed service provider.

We are extremely pleased with the quality and professionalism of Mario and team. Everything on our list was done on time and on budget. We don’t have one complaint! We had some electrical work done, wrought iron fence installed, doors painted and new hardware installed, plus a few other jobs. Marisela was great to work with via e-​mail. She ensured we were always up to date on costs and timing. We would definitely recommended this team.

Initial contact was good, they responded promptly and we set up an appointment for someone to come out to estimate some work we need done on our garage and my husband liked the guy that came out. That was Monday. Today is Friday. We still have yet to receive the estimate. Next please…

Mario came to work for 4 hours after I bought a ConejoDeals discount. He showed up right on time and was fast, courteous, smart, neat, and knowledgeable. He cleaned up after himself, gave me good ideas on follow up and did terrific work. I had a long list of various tasks and hoped he would get through half of it. He took care of so much so fast that he finished the whole list and still had time to clean up. Plus, Marisela was flexible and helpful on the phone and email for scheduling. I trust them to do good work. I’d use them again whenever I need work done — especially if I could get Mario to take care of things.

Thanks to ConejoDeals is was able to score a deal and and an introduction to a great business, My Handyman List. Appointment was scheduled and Mark arrived right on time. I had some electrical fixtures to be changed out and rather than waiting for my hubby to «get around» to it, I had the time scheduled and work done within a few hours (while my hubby was at work). Mark cleaned up any mess and gave me some ideas for furture projects, that are now on «My List» Thank you My Handyman List!

I just discovered this company and am so happy I did. I had been trying to have a microwave rehung for the last 7 months but no contracting company was interested in a small job. I needed it hung right because my home was bank-​owned and it was hung wrong on flimsy boards. My Handyman List employs fully bonded and licensed contractors and were quite happy to help with a small job like this. It was more involved than it seemed so I’m glad to have it done right this time.
They are friendly and professional and return calls promptly. I am making a new list of repairs and will be calling them again to schedule more work. It’s a great service.

We found this an excellent source for home repairs. The were very professional on the phone and we were able to convey our needs and secure an appointment time. Mario came on time and completed everything on our list. He is very through and professional and I would recommend their services. Every task was done with care and competence. My Handyman List turned my nightmare into the sweetest dream! A few months ago I went through a tough eviction. I own property in the L.A. area, but I live in Austin, TX. After many months of legal stuff, we were finally able to get them out. To my astonishment, they left the house in a huge mess! My handyman list grew by the minute! My sister helped me assess the damages, and was able to gather a list of what needed to be repaired. After days of research and a few word of mouth references I decided to hand over my list to «My Handyman List.» I sent them an e-​mail, and within hours I received a response. When I spoke to them on the phone they were able to give me an estimate according to what I had written them on the e-​mail. Within a few days they came out and did a walk through and were able to give me a final estimate. I don’t know what I would do without them! They turned my nightmare into the sweetest dream! I was able to return to Austin in peace, (I had other business to attend to) knowing that I left my property in good hands. I am very happy with the job they did! They left my house looking like new! All the items on my list were completed! They are very accessible, whenever I would give them a call they would answer. Communication seems to be their highest priority! I love that about them. They are trustworthy! (something that you don’t see these days) They did not nickel and dime me!
