Let me just say wow! Their spa is amazing! The staff is great. But Mary and Rachel are two of the absolute best I’ve ever seen.
Mary gave me the most amazing massage I’ve ever had! In only 45 minutes because she squeezed me in. But my goodness she is very good at what she does. Don’t let her petite self fool you. She has so much strength and can get the deepest of knots! I felt taller and way more open after she went in on my back.
Finish with a facial by Rachel and these two gals are enough to change your entire day! Most relaxing and attentive service and they’re both the cutest and sweetest little things!
Can’t go wrong here. Their spa is definitely getting too tight because they are so busy and have so much going on they need to expand and go BIG!

Did my hair for prom and was very happy with it! Only downside was it was very expensive, more than most places. But besides the price, really made me happy with my hair!

Ariel does the best blonde in town! I am a naturally dark brunette and she has managed to create a natural and flattering blonde on me. The salon itself is in a beautiful location at Fifth Street Public Market and the Aveda products they use are high quality. I recommend Ariel and the salon to everyone I know!

After a string of awful haircuts in Oregon Bronte made my hair feel not only normal but also beautiful again! Could not be happier with the color and cut I received from her. So relieved to have found a quality stylist out here.

Excellent massage!
I was fortunate enough to have time for a massage here. I requested a deep tissue massage, and my massage therapist Kate was excellent. I get massages on a regular basis and this was top notch
The facilities are quite nice, and I didn’t have any issue with noise or views of the salon detracting from the experience. Certainly, it was not as roomy as a suburban spa.

Had my first visit and got my haircut by Cedar. She did an amazing job! She really took the time to listen to what I wanted and gave me the perfect cut. I will be going back for sure.

Great salon, great service. I got my hair lightened and toned and Kayla did a fantastic job. My only complaint is that I didn’t see much disinfection or cleaning happening. The shampoo bowls are spotted with color, shampoo residue, conditioner residue, there was hair in them. It was kind of gross to look at and I was sort of hesitant to put my head in the bowls.
I also saw one stylist reuse her clippers on 2 different clients and she never sprayed clippercide on the clippers in between clients. Kind of gross.
Other than those 2 things I was very pleased with the service and the stylists.

I was very impressed by my trip here! I got a hair cut and eyebrow wax and enjoyed every bit of it (I mean– minus the waxing pain). The salon itself is very nice and welcoming– when you walk in the door you’re offered water or tea. I opted for the tea and was delighted to see that it came with chocolate. When I was called for my haircut the hairdresser was very nice and checked in with me to see what I wanted. She started with a short scalp massage and then we were off to the sink to wash hair. She was very pleasant to talk to and did a great time cutting my hair. After I was taken to my eyebrow appointment down a mysterious, but calming hallway, full of massage rooms and other waxing vicinities. The girl that waxed my eyebrows did an fantastic job, she made sure she understood what I wanted and was very careful waxing. She trimmed the hairs too– something most places don’t do. Afterwards she put some cooling agent on them and gave advice on how to take care of them at home. I was very happy with my experience.

These people think they are in Hollywood, elite, and can charge astronomical prices for crappy service and snobby/​snotty hair stylists who cannot keep appointments. One must make an appointment two weeks in advance, are expected to pay 150+++ for a beginner stylist to cut and color hair and that stylist may or may not keep the appointment. The stylist might just cancel at the last minute and you are out of luck!!! Still want to go here? Best of luck you!

I had an uneven terrible haircut in this place. They are unprofessional and rude. My stylist was just playing with scissors, unfortunately it was on my hair. Don’t go there, I definitely won’t again.

I am not a girl who goes to the salon often, really I only go when I get a certificate as a gift or I get a wild hair (no pun intended) to do something different with my hair.
My past experience with «up scale» salons was never good, unless you walk in with a Coach bag under one arm and looking like you need absolutely NO help in the hair style department.
That was until I found Kayla at Gervais, she is the BEST! I always love my hair, she treats me like a person and not a bag of cash and I love the products. She talks to me and asks me about my day, life, kids, work, etc.
I love the smell of the shop and the products are so amazing, they even massage your hands and scalp. Its bliss!

This salon did not honor a gift certificate because it had an expiration date. Not only is this an illegal activity, but a poor customer service policy (see ncsl policy
). I will never go here again and hope others boycott this salon for illegal activity.

I have been a loyal Gervais customer for nearly a decade, but was shocked and outraged by the treatment I received during my LAST appointment. I arrived 7 minutes late to a pedicure appointment and was told that because I had gel polish on my toenails, the technician would need an additional half hour to soak off the product. ‘Would I mind coming back 3 hours later to get the full service?’ When I expressed frustration at this inconvenience, the receptionist told me this kind of situation happens «all the time». Really? Even though I told the front desk person that I had gel polish on my toes when I made the appointment?
Three hours later, I arrived a few minutes early to ensure nothing would interfere with the time the technician needed to complete my service. I then stood in line 10 minutes waiting for other clients to check in, or out. When I reached the front desk, a different receptionist told me that because this was my 2^nd late arrival, I must leave a credit card on file to book any further appointments. I explained that though I was 7 minutes late to my earlier appointment, I was rescheduled due to THEIR error. Also, I pointed out that I had just stood in line for 10 minutes awaiting check-​in. The receptionist was VERY RUDE and dismissive, finally «allowing» me into the spa area for my pedicure. She parted with the statement that they would collect my credit card information upon my departure. Needless to say, by this point, I wasn’t very relaxed.
Just as I was settling into the warm footbath, the (lovely and attentive) technician explained that «because I had arrived 15 late to my pedicure», I couldn’t get the French tips I’d hoped for on my toes. UNBELIEVABLE! I’d arrived early, to stand in line waiting 10 minutes, then discussed the situation for another 7 – 8 minutes before setting eyes on my spa technician. This clearly wasn’t the pedicurist’s fault, so I settled into my chair and tried to make the most of my spa day. Sadly, the front desk person harassed me again upon departure, saying that I’d have to provide my credit card number when I booked my next appointment.
Do you think I’ll be booking any further appointments? Gervais, you’ve lost a long-​term client.

I was given a gift certificate for Gervais and had never been before. This was by far the most relaxing and therapeutic experience I’ve ever had! I dream about returning, but the prices are a little spendy for me. This is definitely a place you go to indulge on a special occasion. And, falls in line with «you get what you pay for». Would definitely recommend!

Skylar is your girl if you need to schedule a waxing. I moved from Eugene to Portland a year ago and have yet to find another waxer/​aesthetician as good at their job as she is. When I schedule a waxing I want someone professional, who can make you feel comfortable, ease your nerves, and can keep the conversation going well enough to distract you from whatever pain is a result of the waxing. It is easy to start talking with Skylar like a friend right away, she is cheerful, bubbly, skilled and can have you laughing out loud mid-​procedure. I’ve found that a really good waxer is totally worth the price compared to some of the other places I have been since. Skylar also gets the job done very quick, which I appreciate. I have not been able to find anywhere since leaving Eugene that compares to her service.

Could not be happier. Rachel did such an awesome job. I was a little nervous cutting 12 inches off but as soon as I met her I was totally comfortable. She took her time and LISTENED to me. I will definitely be back. Thanks Rachel!!!

I was a first time customer yesterday for a massage. I’ll preface by saying I’ve been to many spas in major metropolitan areas, so maybe holding Gervais to the same standard isn’t fair. The overall experience was OK, not great (especially for the price).
Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location with ample parking, nicely appointed massage rooms with very comfortable tables.
Cons: front waiting area surrounded with several hairstyling rooms where blow dryers and loud conversations made for a not-​so-​relaxing pre-​massage experience. Dressing rooms, showers and relaxation sitting area is co-​ed, which was just weird. To use a blow dryer, you needed to walk out to the single bathroom in the hallway of the massage area. My therapist was friendly, but so-​so, not the best massage. The shower room that was «prepared» for me didn’t have any body soap in it (not cool since I was covered with body oil), and the drain was clogged with hair (Eww). I feel for the quality it was expensive.
I will probably seek out one of the peaceful small massage studios in town.

I am now home after a wonderful, relaxing 4 hours at the spa. This is my first time at their new location at the 5^th Street Market. It’s nice, welcoming. More seating than the last shop.
I booked services (essential facial and massage) for one week ago, however sadly had to reschedule for today. (My fault!) when I booked for last weekend, I was told that they could only fit me in for a facial THEN a massage. The young lady on the phone said it was not ideal, but I accepted it.
Fast forward a week to when I called to reschedule. I specifically asked the young lady to look for times where I could have my massage first THEN a facial. That was the understanding when I rescheduled.
Fast forward to today. I checked in 10 minutes early. Filled out the required paperwork for a massage. I was greeted by the esthitician, Keisha. (Very lovely woman!) She kindly asked if I was waiting long (Nope!) then brought me back to change, and meet in the lounge for a foot soak and tea! I didn’t know until around this time that she was going to perform the facial. Huh?! I thought I was going to get a massage first. She mentioned something about there being a «note in the system.» Oh well.
Keisha was informative and made me feel super comfortable. She was incredibly patient afte as I asked a TON of questions. She was kind enough to leave two products at the counter that she recommended for my use AND provides instructions on how to use them. I obliged and bought them. Not to mention, I rebooked and will see her again in 4 weeks!
My massage was with Sara (h). She is brilliant! Her tone of voice was relaxing. Her hands were magic! I’ll rebook with her again next time!
Now on to check out. Gervais seriously needs to STOP HIRING YOUNG COLLEGE GIRLS at the front counter! Especially when they barely have any customer service skills. I walked up to check out to find two girls embracing for quite some time — and it looked like one of them was crying?! The other girl was on her phone (texting or something). I was greeted with a surprised look and an «oh!» Yes, I’m standing here. No question about how my services were.
They proceeded to check me out. I paid for my services separately than the product and BAM! Their computer went down. Instead of moving me over to the other computer, they attempted to bring it back online all the while accepting to check out another client at the other computer. (Annoying) My check out process took far longer than it should have! (I was not offered a bag for my products to which I carried out of the salon and dropped all over the parking lot!)
That is my only «complaint» — train your front desk girls! For me, my experience leaving the spa is what decides if I’ll be back. I left the back of the spa relaxed to leaving the salon a little annoyed.

I’ve been holding off on giving a full review of Gervais because I wasn’t really sure how to put it.
My first experience at Gervais was because my boyfriend gifted me a Essential massage/​and spa pedicure for valentines day of 2014. It was our first valentines day together and I was really delighted to be able to have my first massage/​spa experience.
Setting up the appointment was easy, I made sure to come in a little extra early (20 – 25 minutes) and was helped right away and offered tea and chocolate. Good start right? I mean, how do you go wrong with tea and chocolate?
By making the person wait an additional 30 – 40 minutes to be seen. In their defense, it was pretty close to Valentines day so I figured that probably had something to do with it, as I’m an unabashed spa newbie.
Unfortunately I don’t remember the girls name who did my massage but she was really sweet. She mispronounced my name a couple times but complaining about that seems silly. She was really educated on the essential /​massage oils and definitely helped me make up my mind to purchase some of the Bergamot to take home.
The only drawback to the massage was that I kept getting excuses along the lines that normally I would have been able to sit in the spa area or shower after the massage and try some Aveda products but it was too busy/​not enough time/​spa regulars were already there.
I mean the trip was a gift so I really didn’t think anything of it and really it’s not like I’m going to argue with the nice lady who helped me relax for an hour.
I had my pedicure afterwards, a warm towel wrap on my shoulders was pretty much magical.
There was a lot of waiting and once again, really didn’t mind. The pedicurist was funny and helpful and did a beautiful job on my toes. She didn’t push anything on me like I heard several other spa attendants doing to their clients.
This, really bothered me. It’s supposed to be a relaxing environment right? Shouldn’t that mean you AREN’T trying to push spa packages on people?.. I mean put me on a mailing list to try and convert me to your ways by giving me coupons to come in and drink the «special Kool-​Aid» but at the actual appointment??? No thanks.
After my toes dried I headed up to the front to look at some of the products and to pick up some essential oils and was on my way.
Essential oils especially the Bergamot = AWESOME. Really long lasting and subtle.
Fast forward to this past January 2015. I won a free Green science plant peel from liking the Gervais facebook page. Not something I would normally try on my own but I’d had never had one before and was curious. Free is a pretty good price. Setting up the appointment was easy and they had an opening really fast which was a nice surprise.
That’s where all the niceness ends.
Once again, I was early but only by 10 or so minutes this time.
Once again, I waited. A lot.
I felt «in the way» the entire time I was there. Women who got there after I did were taken back before I was, I had to dodge people talking about hair services they’d received just to get to a seat. The woman in the chair next to me was on her phone the entire time.
When I got taken back, the aesthetician was not easy to talk to. She would ask questions about my beauty routine and then interrupt me. I told her multiple times this was the first time I had received a facial or a chemical peel of any kind and she didn’t really react.
She didn’t walk me through any of the steps or let me know when she was going to do something such as SPRAY ME DIRECTLY IN THE FACE WITH WATER.
She corrected me after I told her I really enjoyed the Bergamot oil for the facial massage portion and she interrupted me again telling me it was pronounced BURR GA MONT and that she didn’t have any for this session.

Throughout the entire process the only time she would talk is to tell me that if I had «Purchased a regular package» I would have gotten so much more or that normally they would give me X to go along with it but that’s with the «full price package»
I told her repeatedly that I had won this through Facebook and I had never had ANY kind of facial treatment and all she would say is «Oh, you should try our full package.»
When we were finished up she said she would put together some Aveda products for me to help me with some of my skin issues (dry skin etc) So I went up front and waited… and waited after about 40 minutes another technician came up to me between appointments and answered some of my questions about a few products.
No one from the front desk said anything. No one approached me. Finally I went up to check out and asked about the facial tech. She had no idea. No apology for having me wait around for that long. As the peel was no cost, I left. No plans on going back.
I’m not sure how to get into the magical club of being able to actually be treated to a full appointment but I think I’ll pass.

Last time I checked, Gervais is the only exclusive Aveda salon in Eugene. Hence, when I was in dire need to restock some of my fave yummy-​smelling Aveda products, I ventured downtown to check the place out. Parking is a breeze here — there’s a large lot across the street from the shopping center which offers free 3 hour parking for patrons of any of the 5^th Street Market shops. The salon itself is beautiful and fairly new at only 6 years old.
They offer a full-​range of Aveda products — lotions, shampoos/​conditioners, makeup, fragrances, etc. In addition to hair styling and coloring, they also do waxing, nails, massage, facials, makeup application, and have several spa packages to choose from.
When I went in, I was on an hour-​long lunch break and on a whim, asked if there was an opening for a quick waxing appointment. Amazingly enough, they said they could fit me right in and offered me some herbal tea while I waited. Unfortunately, there turned out to be a mix-​up and after waiting 15 minutes, I was told the esthetician couldn’t see me. The front desk girls were VERY apologetic and insisted that if my schedule permitted, I return after work for a complimentary waxing session. Upon return, I was seen quickly and treated very well by the esthetician (who is lovely!) — she even refused my tip.
I recommend this salon highly, not only because of their great product selection and beautiful ambiance but mainly because of the above-​and-​beyond customer service!
