History

Established in 1980.

Dr. Mark O’Hara began his career in dentistry as a dental assistant for six years in the Navel Reserves. He has attended numerous professional courses throughout his professional career to insure his skills, techniques and materials are the most state-​of-​the art in dentistry. Because of Dr. O’Hara’s expanded dental surgical skills we are able to offer our patients the most advanced techniques and materials in tooth restoration, and cosmetic dentistry.

Business Owner

Mark O’Hara, DDS graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1980. Upon graduating he moved to the Northwest for Oregon’s beauty and wide array of outdoor activities. His favorite activity is fishing in the Pacific Ocean and Oregon’s numerous rivers and lakes.

Dr. O’Hara has over 25 years of experience in the same location. He prides himself on the long term experienced staff he has assembled to provide the highest quality dental care to his patients. He doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon; in fact he enjoys dentistry so much he returned to school part time in 2010 at the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry to complete the highly acclaimed one year Maxi Dental Implant course, the only recognized accredited implantology course currently in existence.

I usually go to a dentist for the hygienist and I am so glad I found Terri here! She is absolutely amazing and did such a great in detail job cleaning get my teeth. She took her time and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole cleaning. She keeps a good conversation, but can multi task also. She is the best hygienist in Eugene and after having a bad experience at my last dentist I had been at for years I am so glad I found this great of a place in Eugene! I definitely recommend this place to everyone, especially Terri!

I was a patient of Dr. O’Hara for four years in the 1990’s. Prior to seeing him, I had never had a filling in my life. Since I left him, I have had one filling. During the four years I saw him, I kept being surprised by the fact that on virtually every visit I had to have another tooth filled (a total of eight fillings). My conclusion is that he drilled into perfectly good teeth in order to line his own pockets. Unconscionable.
Dr. O’Hara was disciplined by the Oregon Board of Dentistry in 2010 for «unacceptable patient care». Sadly, I now realize I was probably one of his earliest victims.

Since I was a kid I always hated going to the dentist. When I moved to Eugene in 1998, I knew I needed to find a dentist. I was recommended Mark O’Hara. I have been going to him ever since. I have had fillings, crowns and a root canal performed and have noticed that I feeling of uneasiness has greatly diminished. I cannot say that I enjoy having work done, but I can say that I trust his judgement and the work performed. He has been the best dentist of the seven that I have experienced. I highly recommend him. The office staff is very knowledgable regarding insurance issues. Oh, and Jody is a fantastic hygienist!

After going to my dentist for over 16 years and getting the «herded cattle» feeling, I felt it was time to try something different which can be a very un-​fun experience especially when you are dealing with your health. I noticed an ad for a young new dentist named Dr Tyler Clark (Mark O’Hara’s son-​in-​law) and decided to go against conventional wisdom and give him and his team a try. A recent OHSU Dental School graduate, I felt he would be pretty up to date on the latest things in the dental world. When calling to make my initial appointment, the gal that answered the phone was very helpful and friendly. Upon going in on appointment day I found the office (it appears to have been a home at one time), very welcoming and «homey» (no pun intended!!). This is good considering I have never been a big fan of going to the dentist. The hygienist, Terri, was most personable and in short order you had the feeling you had known her most of your life. Another good thing for not being a big fan of dentists. Dr Clark’s check up of my overall condition of my teeth, etc., were directly in line with my last dentist who has been in practice for over twenty years. Clearly, Dr Clark knew what he was talking about and this is one time bucking conventional wisdom really did pay off. I have now been going to Dr Clark for over a year and I intentionally waited writing a review for one year/​two visits to make sure I wasn’t overlooking something. Two teeth cleanings and one filling later, here sits the review. The other thing worthy of note is the most I have waited is a few minutes, so if sitting around in the dentist office and reading magazines is your thing, this may not be the place for you (they actually have really good magazines in the waiting area, FYI!!).
