Sizzle Pie

The pizza I’d give a 3.5 to, but it took literally like 20 minutes to get 3 slices of cheese pizza that was already made and just needed to be heated up. I’d say maybe go there if there’s not a lot of other options open.

Reality set in one day. This Pizza really sucks. It is tasteless. In a literal sense, as in lacking any sense of satisfactory flavor. As a Michael Bay film is tasteless. Perhaps it’s middle age setting in. I have worked in the food service industry for over twenty years.
Sizzle Pie consistently, (Albeit slowly) churns out charred, flavorless grease drenched slop.
All the claptrap cliché hipster nonsense this place has accumulated for itself, and it’s staff, will never make their Pies taste any better. I will say, Sizzle Pie has however gotten more expensive, and less appetizing somehow. Bravo, bravo.

This was very delicious foid great staff wounderful fresh food way better than mezza luna on pearl st.

What a disappointment.
You can buy it by the pie or by the slice. Mainly vegetarian and vegan menu. But I like vegetarian and vegan from time to time so I tried it.
The Apocalyptic Pizza was a disaster. It had a red pepper sauce with feta cheese and veg. The flavor was off. No good. I couldnt eat it.
The other piece I had was «okay» enough to eat. This slice had a strange name that I cant remember except for the first few characters PUNK. It was a take off from a mediterranean pizza. The crust was good — I wished it to be a little more cooked through but it was okay.
My biggest question on this pizza is– did you put some sort of mustard on it? This pizza tasted like it had mustard; that was the taste left upon my pallet.

Ah. Sizzle pie. Always a fantastic choice in my opinion. Their pizza is always a mix of traditional and quirky combinations, but always delicious. I have had breakfast pizza here (actually really good), vegetarian pizza (never thought I wouldn’t miss the cheese), and pretty much all their other classic flavors (all great). I eat here way too often for it to be healthy. I also really enjoy their drinks at the bar in the resturant. Overall, fantastic and a great choice for every and all occaissians.

I love this place. The pizza is good, and they have absinthe. And of course, other drinks as well, but they seem to have a good selection of alcohol. They’re open late, and staff seem to enjoy their job, as the last time I was there, they were dancing to the music playing while still making food. At times, it takes a bit to get ones food, esp if they’re slammed, but it’s a nice place to grab a slice of late night pizza and alcohol of choice. They have out door seating, also.

I don’t often give such low ratings – while the aromas wafting from Sizzle Pie are enticing, the experience rarely is. After having gone in several times, usually during non-​peak hours, the one thing I’ve noticed is that the majority of my experiences it has taken an absurdly long time to get a single piece of cheese pizza re-​heated. For the effort, I’d rather visit Mezza Luna, Sy’s, pretty much anyplace else.
There was one occasion my daughter and I were literally the only people in the place, and had asked for 2 slices of cheese pizza – they had ‘em, we just needed them reheated. The incredibly hip wait staff took an incredibly long time to simply get them in the oven, and after 20 minutes I went to the counter and asked for my money back since we had to leave. At that point we received a rather withering reception – they declined to give us the money back as they had finally put the pizzas in the oven to warm.
I need to point out that I’m a long time customer of the Keystone Café. I know better than to prompt waitstaff at the Keystone to «hurry» during busy hours – this was a case of Sizzle Pie empty, and somehow waitstaff seemed to think that when we ordered we were expecting our single slices 45 minutes later.
At the end of the day, it’s just pizza, and there are many other places in town turning out the exact same product – all with greater efficiency than Sizzle Pie. So head over to Sy’s, Mezza Luna, Cozmic Pizza, Pegasus Pizza, Al Taglio, you’ll be glad you did.

Waited 20 minutes for a single slice. Fail. How hard can it be to sling a slice? Half an hour. Fail. Disservice. Lame. Weak.

I’ve had the pizza here like 3 times I do taste the merit at alllllllll.

I love sizzle pie! It is located in such a fun area in downtown Eugene. You can walk over from a bar with friends and get a slice. They had some oddball combinations but once you figure out what you like you will not be disappointed!

First, I will qualify this review. I am a fan of most traditional and Northern Italian influenced pizza designs, so a lot the choices are not a good fit for me. Now this is Eugene, so many of the choices do work well here. It absolutely smells wonderful inside. At times it is too busy with a heavy line out the door and foot traffic will stop, contemplate going in, then will pass by.
Good: Service with a smile, warm and inviting.
Bad: Long lines at peak hours, not enough traditional choices, is really just another chain restaurant masquerading as something original.
Suggestion: Use a second employee during peak times with a tablet to get orders started. Especially for people that will be ordering a whole pie rather than a slice. Very easy to set up ordering and billing on a tablet. This way you can get the order started in advance, get people seated and drinks served while they are waiting, cutting down the line, increase customers per hour and increase overall customer counts because the line will not be so daunting. This is not rocket science folks.

Sizzle Pie is my favorite pizza in Eugene! I have only had the pepperoni with black olive pizza, but they all look delicious! I am super picky when it comes to my pizza and this place meets the mark! They also have a great beer selection, so I love it even more. Even when there is a line to the door, the service is quick and the people are always friendly. I have not been able to eat here in the last few weeks due to a 30 day diet challenge, but you can bet I will be here the weekend it ends!

The good:
The hours. It’s open late, in the middle of the night. In other words, it’s open when you might actually want to go there!
The pizza. Several varieties to pick from ready to go, by the slice. Most extremely good.
The staff. Exceptionally courteous and helpful. Always willing to go the extra mile.
The bad:
The people outside. Not the fault of Sizzle Pie, but a deterrent none the less. The ‘travelors’ outside hassle you in all sorts of ways, making the option of eating outside unappealing. Again, this is no direct reflection on Sizzle Pie itself, thus does not detract from their rating.

I remember first seeing Sizzle Pie when I was in Portland, across the street from Powell’s Bookstore. Right after that visit to Portland, my friend who lives there sent me an article, saying that Sizzle Pie got some recognition for their vegan/​vegetarian pizzas.
I actually didn’t know there was a Eugene location until my most recent trip, when I was headed downtown to get Voodoo Doughnuts. Since it was our last night in Eugene, a couple we were having dinner with told me to pick a spot. I recalled seeing Sizzle Pie and that became our dinner destination.
We met for dinner around 6:30 p.m., and the restaurant wasn’t even crowded. It was a noisy atmosphere, though, so I felt like I was yelling the entire time, but for those slices of pizza, it was worth it.
My friend found parking in a nearby lot close to Red Wagon Creamery (this would have been helpful to know a few nights ago, when we visited the ice creamery), and we walked across the street to Sizzle Pie. From perusing the menu online, I knew there would be a lot of good pizzas to choose from.
Sizzle Pie offers a few flavors that are available by the slice, but for most pizzas, you’ll have to order the entire pie. There were at least nine different choices during the time of our visit, though! Sizzle Pie is indeed popular because they offer meat, vegetarian and vegan options. I’m not even vegan, but the vegan pies were sure appealing.
My friend and I opted for the $ 7 slice of pizza + salad combo (super great deal), while our friends ordered two slices of pizza and breadsticks. Though I do love a thick pizza crust, I’m also a fan of thin crust pizzas (makes me legitimize eating more of it).
I loved Sizzle Pie and definitely want to try more of the available flavors. Can’t wait for my next visit!
Here’s what we got:
«The Gold Ring»: This vegetarian pizza featured white truffle oil, goat cheese and green onions. I don’t really like tomato sauce, so this all-​white pizza was right up my alley. I loved the savory taste of the white truffle oil, and goat cheese is one of my favorite cheeses. This slice of pizza was practically oozing with cheese, but it also wasn’t heavy. I would definitely order it again.
«Caligula»: For my salad choice, I opted for the Caligula. It included romaine, croutons and black pepper vegan Caesar dressing. It was essentially a glorified Caesar salad. I was glad that the dressing was plentiful and aptly covered the majority of the salad. They gave a generous portion, too, since this salad came with the slice of pizza. What a great deal!
«Spiral Tap»: For her pizza + salad combo, my friend chose this slice of pizza. She isn’t vegan, but she loved this vegan option. It featured creamy caramelized onion spread, house marinara red sauce and a light dusting of nutritional yeast. She said the caramelized onions spread was to die for; the guy behind the counter actually recommended this pizza, saying it was one of the more popular choices. My friend also said the marinara sauce wasn’t overwhelming, though the pizza looked a bit too red for my tastes/​preference.
«Breadsticks»: I’m a sucker for breadsticks; who doesn’t like fluffy, golden-​brown chunks of dough? The breadsticks at Sizzle Pie are on another level, though. There was plenty to share among the four of us, and these breadsticks are all about the dipping sauces that come with them. I think my favorite was the creamy basil cashew spread. It includes the regular house sauce, plus two sauces of your choice (my friends got the creamy caramelized onion spread and the creamy basil cashew spread). I highly recommend getting an order of breadsticks to share if you go in a group to Sizzle Pie … you won’t regret it!
«Red Dawn»: If I ever get to order one of the breakfast pies, this is the one I would choose. It features spicy pulled pork, egg, mozzarella and fresh cilantro. I would just have to make sure the spicy pulled pork isn’t too spicy for my liking.
«The Four Horsemen»: This is the other vegetarian pie I wanted to try because it doesn’t contain any tomato sauce … maybe next time! It sounds like the perfect fit for my cheese cravings, as it includes mozzarella, white cheddar, ricotta and goat cheese.

Just had a 3 topping pizza delivered with a Caesar salad. Pizza is paper thin with toppings few and far between. Pizza turns to cardboard once cold. Salad not worth $ 6, although dressing tasted good.
They did offer to make another, but turned it down. Will give a star for that.
Do yourself a favor and go with Meza Luna.

My husband wanted to try somewhere new after hearing great things about this place.
There are a ton of vegan options, which is nice. I’m not vegan, so it doesn’t really matter to me. It’s New York style pizza, so super thin and doughy crust. Which is not my favorite. It’s got too much sauce and not nearly enough cheese.
The breadsticks were totally overdone. They were burnt and hard to chew, they were that overdone.
The service is ok. Nothing special. They take your order and give you a number. No chit chat, or even basic customer service. If you don’t have everything totally ready, they seem impatient to the point of rudeness. They don’t seem to like questions. It’s more the «get your shit and get out» kind of attitude.
Parking sucks beyond belief. I had to pay to park in a parking garage almost 3 blocks away and walk. Which for the entire experience, it wasn’t worth it. Had the food or service been at least decent, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But added to the bad experience, just made it more annoying.

One of my regular stops when I’m in town. The pizza is always great… one slice, or one pie at a time. Awesome cocktails too.
They have a very good selection for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans. Something for everyone!

When Sizzle Pie first opened, I was a pretty skeptical customer. «Another Portland business setting up home in Eugene? Get outta here, man!» These days however, I can’t walk by Kesey Square without smelling the spicy, savory waft of sizzling cheese, and feeling obligated to have a slice of pizza.
And the pizza toppings/​creations often touch upon genius. Like brunch pizza. Thank you, SP, for introducing this to my mouth. I recently had a Sizzle Pie slice topped with spicy seitan «chorizo», fresh tomatoes and soft scrambled eggs, and another topped with soft scrambled eggs, onions, peppers and ham. The slices came out fast and hot, with a side of beer (or Bloody Mary, depending on your preference) and were the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon watching rain fall.
But my all time Sizzle Pie favorite is still the Buffalo 666. Although it clocks in at a formidable $ 4/​slice, it sets a high standard for vegan pizza. The jackfruit is fiery and savory, the crust thin and crisp, and the paper-​thin red onion slices, Daiya mozzarella & cool vegan ranch/​wing sauce set it up as the best interpretation of buffalo wings I’ve tasted– who can tell you’re not eating chicken? I wish Sizzle Pie offered the Buffalo 666 by the slice more often!
Although it’s hard to order delivery (SP is so busy that it’s a miracle when someone picks up the phone) it’s a great place to have a sit-​down dinner or grab a quick slice. And the best part is that either of those options can happen any time between 11am and 4am. F O U R A M. So much rock n roll.

I had a very good experience at Sizzle Pie. I am new to town and my sister was visiting so we came here for the first time. The cashier who took our order was very friendly even though we were being difficult and indecisive. We both decided on a slice and salad combo which is only $ 7! You can also decide to get two cuts instead of one slice so you can try two kinds of pizza. The only downside is the by the slice options seem to change daily so you have to pick from what’s in the case or order a whole pizza if you want a different kind.
I thought for the price the food was really good and the service was too! I will definitely be going back to try other kinds of pizza. The Rabbits salad was really good too– I am a salad lover so I appreciate a good salad!

A fun atmosphere, full bar, and great pies.
That pretty sums up Sizzle Pie from my experience. Although not quite the New York styled pizzeria that they would lead you to believe, this Portland based chain dishes out tasty, large-​sliced portions at a very acceptable cost. With a large and creative menu to choose from, you have plenty of options for both the omnivores and vegetarians in your life. What takes them above and beyond many of the other pizza joints is the quality of their ingredients. For example, it’s not uncommon to see things like goat cheese or white truffle oil in some of their pies. If you’re ordering a pickup or delivery, the sky is basically the limit in terms of customizability. I counted over forty choices in toppings during my last order.
The downtown location is also host to a full bar, offering some unique liquors crafted up in Portland and elsewhere within the state. Although I found the drink prices to be slightly higher than average, it was certainly nothing to fret about. What really tickles me about this eatery is the colorful theme that they roll with. For example, some of the pizzas are hilariously named after 80s metal bands, such as a pie called the Napalm Breath or the Spiral Tap. A big plus for me is the hours in which they operate (basically all day and night). Where else can you get quality food at 3:00am? To wrap it up, if you’re craving a mouthwatering slice of pizza and an upbeat setting to order it from, look no further than Sizzle Pie.
