This is my number 1 choice for sushi, always. The appetizers are amazing and sushi fresh and distinctive.

Everyone was craving sushi and decided to try out this place.
First thing I noticed while walking in was all the non-​Japanese, let alone Asian, sushi chefs in the corner. They stared at us the whole time we were there, which was a bit uncomfortable.
Our waiter had a very handsome voice and easy to talk with, I believe his name was Roger. We went in for early dinner, so the place was mostly empty. Thus, the waiter was able to tend to our needs instantaneously.
He also hooked us up with a free appetizer due us having the same nationality as him and the owner. Of course, we compensated such hospitality with a hefty gratuity.
Long story short, despite the non-​Asian sushi cooks staring us 90% of the time, the sushi was actually okay and well presented. The freshness was definitely not there, but nobody got sick afterward.
The place was well decorated and felt like a decent restaurant overall.

This place used to be a favourite of ours. They serve quality food and it’s one of the rare places where I can find Uni (sea urchin). The hibachi chefs are really good and very pleasant to deal with. The waitstaff, bartenders and hostesses are a different story though. They are rude and act annoyed if you request to sit at a hibachi table and one is not readily available or if you ask if they have a menu item, like Uni, that is not always available. Don’t ask them to make any menu changes, especially if you’d like a riceless roll, which most places either offer or will happily accommodate. The hibachi chefs are excellent about accomidating requests however. The last time I dined in at lunch I got scallop rolls that were rolled so haphazardly they were falling over on the plate and encased in about half a package of seaweed. Presentation was horrible. I ate the scallops, left the mess. The last time I went there was a take out order and I wound up with a ton of tuna sashimi when I’d ordered salmon. They would not fix the order, which was their mistake, because the fish had already been cut. I won’t be back here again. If you’re looking for good sushi go two doors down in the same strip shopping center to Avacado California Roll or hop on Glade heading North, hang a left at Colleyville Blvd and then about ¼ of a mile down hang a right to Ahoyama. Both are delicious and fresh and accommodating with orders. The sushi chef at Ahoyama is a jewel and a must try!!!

I love this place! Love the sushi, love the hibachi. Never had a bad experience here. Been coming here for years. Not sure why I haven’t written a review before now. Highly recommend this for a night out or just for lunch or dinner. The last time we were there the hibachi chef was giving me his «secret» recipes. Pretty sure I’ll never be able to actually make the recipe, and why would I when this place is SO good? But, this place is just one of a kind. There are lots of sushi places and hibachi places – I’ve been too many – but this one really stands out for service and quality. Prices are pretty average for restaurant of this type. I recommend any of the sushi any of the hibachi and pretty much anything on the menu. Sorry, wish I could narrow it down more, but safe to say everything will be a hit here.

Well I have to fix things. After trying Kitaro and other places I realize 5 stars is too much 4 is maybe closest but still not there. Salmon has an after taste because of how is cured I guess same but less strong with tuna .
That is not the case in other places I’ve visited. So not longer our Sushi place

First time here. Sat at a table, not hibachi or sushi bar which are options. Sushi was great, very fresh. The pad Thai was bland as was the teriyaki and tempura combo. Service also. Ok. Sadly we won’t be back for dinner. I may get sushi to take out, however.

This is my favorite sushi place. Wait staff are nice and the sushi definitely is one of the top places I’ve been to! Usually went every Friday, now I try to change it up to discover more good eats.

Visited on Saturday night, my wife and I was looking for an interesting place to eat. Food was OK, slightly unseasoned. Service was OK. Atmosphere was OK. It was OK. I was underwhelmed.

This is the worst sushi I have ever had. For being relatively the same price as Lava Grill, you would think the quality would be on par but it’s nowhere near comparison. I would venture to say that grocery store sushi is better than this. I ordered a Shrimp Tempura roll and a Rainbow roll — two common rolls that you can find at any normal sushi restaurant. The tempura shrimp tasted like the shrimp was made days ago: soggy and chewy. I asked for a side of Eel sauce (something most sushi places have) and I was charged $ 1 extra (which is normal) but the sauce was like grape jelly. It’s supposed to be like honey… not jelly. Bad. Both rolls were bad.
The environment inside is outdated and poorly decorated. The staff was very nice, I will give them that. The edamame was good so I’ll give them props on that but all in all, this was not worth the $ 30 I paid.
I suggest the chefs and staff comp shop and go try other sushi restaurants. Once you do, it will be apparent why your restaurant is empty.

It was alright. Atmosphere is great, food is mediocre. DO NOT get their spring rolls. That is a waste of 7 dollars. Our favorite thing was the butterfly kiss roll. It’s over priced but the fish quality was good.

We used to go here once or twice weekly. The service from wait staff has really gone downhill. Last time we were here, the waiter did not write down our orders. My husband did not get his food until we were almost done with ours. Waiter did not check on us. It took a long time to get our bills. We will not return.

Came here the other day with work friends who LOVE it. I wasn’t a huge fan. The prices are extremely high for what you get, especially for the food being bland. The dressing on the salad however was really good. I shared chicken and Mignon hibachi. Chicken was flavorless, steak was decent. The staff however is very friendly. I don’t think I would frequent often due to the price, but maybe as a large group it would be fun.

I love hibachi and sushi. I think most people do. Lava Grill does both of them awesomely. The waiter was great and kept filling up our drinks while we were dining.
The hibachi chef was not only funny but he had some tricks that I haven’t seen before. Everyone at the table loved him. I ordered the steak and chicken combo along with a shrimp tempura roll. The ginger salad they brought was good because the dressing wasn’t too strong like it can be at other places.
The shrimp tempura roll was mouth watering along with some spicy mayo. There was a ton of food and enough for me to take home for lunch the next day. I will be coming back here for both the hibachi and sushi.

Ate here last night and couldn’t sleep due to my stomach being very queasy… Had crawfish and only ate half since it «tasted funny».
ALSO, please make note that they close at 9:30 and if you are there at 9pm they will not only rush you because they want to leave but if you are eating at the sushi bar THEY ACTUALLY START BLEACHING THE FLOORS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU WHILE MAKING YOUR FOOD AND YOU EAT WHILE SMELLING THE FINE ODOR OF BLEACH. YUUUM… NOT
The service is a hit or miss and… to be honest we have only been eating here for convenience since it’s so close to our house… but I think we will make the extra mileage from now on to a better sushi place.

Visited here with a friend — she ordered the «volcano sushi roll» and I had the beef panang curry with «5 star» spice level. The curry was just alright — nothing stands out — and didn’t find it to be very spicy. My friend thought her roll was pretty decent.
Service really cost this place a star and also some $. Granted, my friend and I were in chatty mood, but there were many other tables available at the restaurant and no waiting customers. Regardless, the waiter kept hovering and we felt rushed to finish our meal. We wanted to check out the dessert menu, but prematurely got the bill instead. We took our business to TCBY next door.
Bottom Line: Considering the availability of many sushi joints and Thai restaurants in the area, probably will not be returning.

Sushi! Hibachi! Great place to dine in the mid cities area. I’ve been here on numerous occasions for date night, family dinners and birthday parties. Their food is always fresh and tastes great. I can’t remember ever complaining about anything. It’s also reasonably priced here and for the quality of fish you get. I do have to mention on this visit it was probably the worst service we ever had. It took about 15 min. for anyone to just come order our drinks. Our dinners came out rather slowly then normal too. They were busy but I’ve been here on busy days and never had such slow service. There used to be a waiter named Kevin and he was my favorite person there. He knew exactly what I wanted every time I came in. Unfortunately you can’t ask for him anymore.
My roll recommendations butterfly, crunchy rainbow, glade roll, dragon. If you like salad get it here because the ginger dressing is amazing! I used to buy tubs of it to take home.
This sushi restaurant is really great. Try it out! I would recommend it.

This is my go to spot for hibachi it’s very entertaining and he chefs are super funny! They always get everyone involved. I always get the steak and fried rice here and idk what they use in one of the dipping sauces it’s a cream/​light orange color but I will dip and pour that everywhere it’s so addicting but I’m pretty sure it’s not the healthiest for you lol. I’ve tried sushi here a couple of times and I like it but not in love with it so I’ll just stick to good ol hibachi!

This is my favvvvvvvv sushi spot. I am a regular so I love on my waiter always knows what I want. Everything here is amazing and worth trying. I usually get the shrimp/​crab eggrolls, ahi tower, longhorn roll, spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, glade roll, Miso soup, pineapple fried rice, & so much more. I still rate this as my favorite DFW sushi spot.

Hibachi heaven! Treat yo self to some delicious steak and lobster prepared in front of your very eyes by a spatula twirling, egg tossing chef extraordinaire!
They also have a full bar, a really cool private room, and delicious sushi — try the ceviche!
PS, the table buzzer they give you is in the shape of a lobster — super freaking cute!
