The Comix Revolution

Stopped in during a snow storm to kill time and pick up some books. The store is very clean and neatly organized for a smaller space. The folks working and talking with patrons seemed like a good group of folks. The gentleman at check even went so far to point out one of the issues I was buying was a second print, which was nice, though I still bought the book. For a regular subscription based and weekly store, I am confident this place fits the bill. Great location and if you do enough circles, you can find street parking.
Only cons, though knit picky; They do not have a deep selection of back issues, at least not visible that I could see. While they have a good selection of toys and comic related mech, tees, etc. it is not really a store for higher end collectibles, though I did not really expect it as they were not listed as a reseller on any of the major sellers site, so I would not hold that against them. They are simply not the kind of shop that carries that kind of overhead.
Overall, if I lived near this place, I would definitely frequent it on Wednesdays for my regular books.

I’m not a comic book geek but I love people who are. This is BY FAR the cleanest comic book store I’ve ever been in. At other stores, I’m plotting how I’ll get out in case of fire. Plus they have a bench for girlfriends to sit & wait. :)

The staff is friendly and knows a lot about comics. There is a wide variety of comics, but i wish there was more manga. There are used comics in the back.

This is by far one of the nicest looking comic book stores I’ve ever been to! They have a great selection of comics, toys, shirts, and posters! If they had a larger selection of manga this place would damn near be unstoppable! Lol! I’m definitely looking forward to visiting it again.

Super nice staff, great selection, and decent prices. Definitely does give off the Simpsons comic book store feel, minus the pretentiousness of Jeff Albertson/​Comic Book Guy. Visit and enjoy! :)

Moderate size. Even focus on mainstream comics, pop-​art, and manga. Bright, open and modern feel to the store.

The Comix Revolution isn’t quite as large as Chicago Comics and not quite as edgy as Quimby’s, but it’s a gem in the middle of sleepy downtown suburban Evanston. Don’t let my passive-​aggressive dig at Evanston turn you away: I’ve never been disappointed at The Comix Revolution, whether I’m looking for graphic novels, monthly comics, collectibles, or indie-​lit. They also carry a limited selection of literary magazines (mostly good stuff, but they’re missing a lot of the edgier/​riskier literary journals). The staff is fantastic — always friendly and helpful, and they love talking comics. I really enjoy browsing and shopping here.

Great cozy comic book shop with indie comics as well as up to date mainstream individual and collections. They have some nerdy collectibles and graphic novels and the place is set in 2 rooms. It’s a quiet shop which I like, and the staff is also shyly quiet but very helpful. I’ve picked up some zines there as well, and many of the more indie comics are priced from a dollar or two to maybe seven from what I’ve seen. They even have novelty books like the Garfield comics without Garfield which are hilarious. Come in to browse and you’ll more than likely find SOMETHING to catch your eye.

And for those seeking something more off-​beat, fun titles like You Are A Zombie (t) and Sh*t My Dad Says are also stocked here.

The selection was good but the lack of back issues and the pretentious non-​fanboy-​fanboy staff just put me off.

They have a very good selection, and the store is both clean and organized! It doesn’t feel like there are boxes of slowly rotting floppies growing mold all over the place like some comic shops. Which is one of the grossest things. Ever. So, none of that here. I guess revolutionaries are the clean cut sort of type. Which is a little inconsistent given the types of people you typically see wearing Che Guevara t-​shirts.
Speaking of t-​shirts, I found an epic girly Star Trek t-​shirt here once upon a time. That’s right; Vulcan girls do it with logic.

When I moved to Chicago a few years ago I had to leave my favorite comic shop behind. We had a tough, tearful breakup, but alas, we went our separate ways.
Then along came Comix Revolution and my heart knew happiness once again. They have a great selection of both big publishers and indy comics, pop culture books and t-​shirts (I need to stop buying so many blasted Wonder Woman shirts). The folks who work there are quite knowledgeable and happy to share recommendations without being pushy salespeople. That makes me a very loyal customer. I feel welcomed, but not watched.
My sister and I have collected comics since we were young’uns running around in our Underoos. We’ve been in bad shops that unfortunately fit the comic stereotype (girls walk in and creepy guys turn to stare at the foreign creatures) and great ones where we can chat with both fans and employees alike and leave with some first-​rate titles. Comix Revolution definitely falls into that latter category and I’m happy they’re around.

Comix Revolution seems to be something of an anomaly in this area — a seeming mixture of Chicago Comics and Quimby’s, CR mixes all of the latest issues from the Big Two along with syntax from the likes of Fantagraphics and Oni along with small press zines and more specialty publications. Aside from Chicago Comics and the big book store chains, this is the only place where you’ll find a somewhat exhaustive selection of manga (along with reduced price packs for complete series that haven’t been able to move). Of note as well, their selection of Ugly Dolls is rivaled only by Rotofugi.
The city of Evanston is loaded to the gills with retirees and college students — neither group of which would seemingly be into any of the wares and ephemera pushed at Comix Revolution, but for those with more fringe tastes, this is a treasure to the town.

Shyeaaa… a leftist comic book store? I mean, they have your standard batman, spiderman bla bla bla comics that I was really into as a youth, but wows! Just wow. They have plenty of books and zines that I got sucked into for a couple hours, actually. I was disappointed they didn’t have «Wobblies! A graphic History.» It would’ve been a logical place to find it, but alas… the only place I’ve seen it was at a suburban library (wtf) so I suppose I’ll order it off the web. Apparently they don’t sell books that are out of print? Either way, the staff is really friendly & we got to shoot the shit a ‘lil. I left the store leaving an arm full of Zines & some leftist magazines too! Wowww!!!

This is a comic place that is friendly and inviting to non-​geeks. Plenty of prose novels and other non-​comix. Staff was real friendly and easy to chat with. Only negative is that it’s selection is a little selective: not as big as I’d like but they have mainly the good stuff.

My friend, who was visiting from DC, is a major fan of «The Watchmen». We stopped by Comix Revolution after showing him the Evanston Library. I can’t compare this store to others. Actually, that’s not true.
Comix Revolution is much more modern and organized than «The Android’s Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop» in Springfield. You won’t find any annoying kids perpetually stuck in fourth grade here or comic book guys who have terrible habits of correcting and insulting their customers about all things geek.
The music playing in Comix Revolution can have obscenities, but that just makes this place rock (no pun intended) even harder. If had the slightest interest in comic books and illustrated novels, I would be all over this place.

I adore this place.
Whether you’re looking for comics (obviously), magazines, books, or ‘zines, this place has it all. Their selection is great, especially as it’s in Evanston, and they cover a wide range of interests.
They also have every Uglydoll known to man in there, which is a definite plus.

This place rules. It’s the only comic shop I’ve ever been in that devotes any attention to indie, non-​superhero comics. They do keep a big rack of Spiderman and whoever else’s comics, but they devote a lot of space to independant comics, of the mundane-​real-​life and nerdy-​but-​not-​quite-​superhero and crazy-​surreal and goth and animé types. They also have some fiction book-​books.
My recent favorite from C-​Rev is the Marc Bell curated Nog a Dod, a collection of zines from NW Canada in the last decade. If you like comics that aren’t about dudes who fight crime, this is definitely your place. Even if I can’t find anything worth buying, it’s always cool to look at books and listen to the (usually good/​decent) tunes.
