Cakes are our passion at Decadence Custom Cakes, and we put the utmost care into each creation. We use the highest quality ingredients available to create cakes from scratch, and because of that, our cakes are some of the best tasting in the Seattle area. Just ask our customers!

To create cakes that taste this good, we combine fine technique with tried and true recipes for an unbelievable finished product. While we specialize in wedding cakes, we also offer various occasion cakes, sugar sculptures, center pieces, and truffles and petits fours. Business Owner

Cakes are Dan Mikosz’s passion. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Dan loved trying new dishes at restaurants with his dad and reading cookbooks for fun. Later, he became «practical» and got a degree in finance.

A finance job eventually transferred him to Seattle, where he realized that he was completely uninterested in finance and decided to take a leap of faith. He quit his job and went back to school, earning a certificate in pastry and specialty baking from South Seattle Community College in 2001. While still in school, he began working at Parisian Star Desserts, a wholesale bakery in Seattle.

Since 2004, Dan has focused more of his time and energy on creating wedding and specialty cakes. With Decadence Custom Cakes, he utilizes his experience and training to provide the perfect, unique cake for each client, regardless of the occasion.

I left him two messages in the last 2 weeks about a cake for my daughter’s second birthday. He never returned my calls. So his cake may be good if the reviewers say so but his customer service is terrible. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

We came across Dan for our son’s first birthday cake for his birthday party and I am so glad we chose him! We were specifically looking for a carrot cake that was delicious, but could also be super cute. We wanted to do a «Little Blue Truck» theme (popular in the 3 and under crowd). Since it is not a traditional theme I was worried how someone could pull it off. Not only did Dan come through with a delicious cake, but it looked fantastic!
The cake was sized just as Dan promised and allowed a little extra room (leftovers the next day!). It was adorable and the fondant cake topper held up for weeks. Literally — I saved it for his actual birthday two weeks later — put it on top of a cake from a local bakery & it was going strong. It was actually hard for me to throw it away. Someone suggested that I save it and put it on the cake next year. The cake had poached pears and was incredibly moist. He was even concerned enough to ask if nuts were OK since kids were involved (I declined — better to be safe than sorry!).
What makes my order different from what Dan usually does (at least I assume) is that I wanted a cake for 15 people and in a children’s book theme. I was worried that my order would be too small and possibly not worth his time. He didn’t make me feel that way at all. He was very engaged in my ideas and made the entire process super easy. I didn’t have to sacrifice taste for aesthetics and wasn’t pressure to get a bigger cake than I needed. The only problem is now I am going to have to go to him next year too because all other cakes will pale in comparison!

Five stars is not enough! Spread the word Seattle area brides, if you want a fantastic tasting, beautiful looking cake for a very reasonable price, call Dan. He was wonderful to work with and the cake was beyond our expectations. To look at it was quite literally all of the bride’s little girl dreams come true. Stunning. And then we cut it… can you say cake bliss!!! It was melt in your mouth moist and flavorful. Pay 3 times as much if you want to for something dried out and dull and predictable or call Dan and have your wedding vision come to life plus cake bliss. We simply cannot thank Dan enough for his services!!!

I am frequently disappointed in the quality of the cakes at weddings I attend. While they’re usually beautiful, I find them dry and often generic. My now-​husband and I chose Dan for our wedding cake because of how passionate he was about the taste of a wedding cake equaling its beauty. After a private tasting where Dan took notes on our preferences and made suggestions based on our feedback, we decided on a rich chocolate cake with two fillings: chocolate mousse and vanilla bavarian cream with fresh raspberries. We agreed that we wanted a vanilla buttercream frosting as opposed to fondant even if it meant sacrificing the ethereal smoothness fondant provides. But the frosting was so smooth you couldn’t tell it wasn’t fondant! The finished product was gorgeous and seriously delicious. I love that Dan bakes a fresh anniversary cake, too. Dan said it best, «Who wants to eat frozen cake?!»

We loved everything about our wedding cake and our guests all commented that it was the best wedding cake that they’ve tried. Dan is a joy to work with and we really enjoyed the process of building our wedding cake with Dan. This was our fifth and last vendor that we tried for our wedding cake and Dan was the first person that actually listened to what we were saying rather than trying to impose his own ideas on us. Dan was also the only person that took the time to make us feel welcome. Our wedding planner put it best: that’s the difference between going with a baker verses going with a caterer who will just make a cake. We loved our cake and we love Decadence!

I really loved the actual cake I got from Decadence, but if you are looking for a cake for your wedding, you’ve got to know that Dan is incredibly flaky, though a very nice person. I had to call and write him countless times to get a final quote. He kept assuring me that we would get it taken care of – but by the time I finally did get things finalized, I was freaking out because my wedding was in less than a month. At that point, I had no option but to hope that he would come through, even though I couldn’t get him to respond to my emails. He did eventually come through, but it added a lot of unnecessary stress to my wedding plans.
And now I’m trying to get my anniversary cake and he says he’ll do it, but we can’t get him to call us back. If I had it to do all over again, I’d go with someone else even though his cake really was amazing and got plenty of compliments from my wedding guests.

When we went on a tour of about six different Seattle wedding cake bakeries, Dan at Decadence Custom Cakes really, um, took the cake. He was so warm, personable, knowledgeable and FUN, and his delicious cakes had gorgeous presentation and panache. (Plus the flavors were AMAZING and the cakes were way moister than everywhere else.)
We fell in love with a flavor from another bakery that we had tried at a wedding open house, but that baker didn’t light our fire and plus they were booked on our date. Dan re-​created that flavor we wanted but let us put our own twist on it, and he had us in for two tastings to make sure we loved it.
He also worked with us to get the design down pat, and it was STUNNING on the big day. He got the color swatches perfect, and our clean, crisp, modern, elegant, classy cake looked as good as it tasted.
PLUS, he made a whole extra top tier and just sent it up to our hotel suite for our after party. No charge, and we hadn’t even requested it! It was so great — people who hadn’t gotten the chance were able to dig in, and we totally ate wedding cake for breakfast and lunch the next day. MMM. AND I believe we get a free top tier at our one-​year anniversary, so we didn’t have to fret about packing up and freezing anything.
I would totally recommend Dan for any other engaged couple, and I’m also planning on keeping him in mind for birthdays and other such events in the future. Make sure you do a tasting with him before you book any other baker!

Dan was amazing! The cake looked better than I could have imagined. It tasted great, awesome price for the high quality of work, and it was everything I could have asked for and more. Ordered a birthday cake with some favorite things arranged on top, which included a fly rod, everyone was very impressed by the details and accuracy. Definitely would go back. THANK YOU DAN!

I picked Decadence after having a cake tasting at our wedding venue. We were most impressed with the «passion fruit and coconut mousse» that he had showcased for the tasting. It was delicious. I set up a meeting with Dan to go over pricing and options. I went down there and was pleasantly surprised, he had about 6 different cakes there for me to try out! I was already set on the flavor I tried prior to the meeting. But that changed it all… I ended up choosing «Tiramisu» for 2 of the layers and the «Passion fruit» for the 3rd layer.
I was banking on spending about $ 500 or so for the cake, and was thrilled to find out I was able to get the cake I wanted in the cost I had budgeted. I think we paid about $ 480 for 100 people!
I had went to 2 other cake tastings prior and was blown away at how much they rape you on cake prices! I was getting quoted in the neighborhood of $ 700 for what I wanted at other bakeries! Yeah, no spank you!
Also included in the price, Dan will make you an «Anniversary» cake a year after your wedding, so no need to freeze the top layer! And you can bet your bottom dollar I will be calling him for that cake the week of our anniversary! =)
The cake was a HUGE, I mean, HUUUUGE hit at the wedding. The Tiramisu was the crowd favorite!

I’m a picky foodie, usually not completely satisfied with any bakery. Not this time. This bakery rocks.
I called the owner/​baker, Dan, three days before my daughter’s birthday, asking if he could custom design a cake to look like Hostess Ho Hos, one of my daughter’s favorite foods. The final cake turned out amazing, and, I suspect, my daughter will never be satisfied with Hostess again. The bakery was creative, flexible, easy to work with, and my daughter said this was her best birthday cake ever. We’ll be fighting each other with forks for the leftovers.
