Frontier Broadband Connect Everett

Drops all the time, then u use up your data– huge cell bill. Out for weeks after storm, zero adjustment to Bill. Just crappy.

I’ve had the same phone/​internet address for almost 40 years. GTE first, then Verizon, now Frontier is the service provider. The phone service is fine, however, internet is another story. I work out of my house so internet is a necessity. Frequent drops, not daily but once it does start dropping, it will drop up to 20 times a day. I can live with that only because my vpn will automatically reconnect. It’s extremely annoying and didn’t start happening until Frontier bought out the Verizon franchise area. I suspect poor maintenance practices or willfully ignoring problems until they get enough complaints to actually have a tech look into it.
The main problem is billing. My bill changes almost monthly, always to the upside. Numerous calls to the company have not resolved the issue. I’ve spent literally hours on the phone with these people. Once again this month, an $ 18 increase. I simply would not do business with these people if I had a better choice. I am currently looking at Comcast as it is the only other company that provides internet service in my area, a sad reflection on capitalism. I did drop the lousy Frontier TV service and moved to Direct TV and I’m much, much happier with that service.
Customer service is another issue with these folks. I actually had a rep yell at me as I was trying to explain the billing issue. I simply told her I would not talk to her any longer and hung up. I emailed the local president to help resolve that particular billing issue. To the company’s credit, they were able to listen to the call I made to the rep and apologized for her behavior, noting that she would be «counseled». That was the second time I had emailed the company president, both times the issue was fixed but now it’s back again. It shouldn’t take that kind of action to resolve problems.
I don’t usually vent online but this has just gotten so ridiculous I felt I needed to add my opinion to this site.

We’ve had Frontier phone & internet service for years, and it’s been adequate, for the most part, with a few hiccups, blips & slowdowns (especially after kids have just gotten out of school for the summer & are sitting at home playing video games/​surfing the net, etc. which eventually evens out) but that may be because I purchased & was using my own ActionTec router/​modem to broadcast the internet signal to other areas of the house. Since Nov. 2014, we’ve started experiencing problems with «expired/​no security certificate» notices & lack of internet access engines we’d used forever, then over the Christmas break, such slow service/​continually losing connections that we gave up the old Actiontec for dead & started using Frontier’s. Worked adequately for 2 days, & now we’re right back to such slow service & continual disruptions it’s like not having any access at all. I need reliable service to transact business – if you’re in the same situation, you probably want to avoid Frontier!
Frontier I suspect is throttling service deliberately to the S. Everett area because it’s been growing at an insane rate; houses on every square inch of land (you know the type, no yards, no parking, just big boxes so close together that if 1 catches fire they’ll all burn). Frontier has been accused of deliberately throttling service in other areas of the country (also have had class action lawsuits filed against them for misrepresenting their services.
At any rate, we were on the phone constantly trying to get internet restored, & on one of those occasions, the rep told us we needed to get our place rewired, which we declined in view of the fact that service had been mostly adequate to that time; and then, a few days later, got an email thanking us for signing up for some email security service that we also didn’t order & don’t need (at a monthly price!) Called them about it to be sure we’re not being charged for it & discovered that we’d been signed up/​scheduled for the rewiring that we had explicitly declined. Shady business practices. Reps must be getting commissions on those things. Beware.
I’m about to give up on Frontier altogether; their router doesn’t work worth a sh*****, even though it’s new, and even if my machine shows I’m connected, every time I try to do something different, such as even reading a different article on a website (check out the Consumerist, for instance, re complaints about Frontier in different areas of the country) I get the same old error message about not being connected to the internet… and did I mention S-​L-​O-​W as molasses. Worse at night for some reason. Random weird error messages that I’ve spent an entire night chasing down & trying to fix… OVER & OVER & OVER again. It’s like a tech recurring nightmare. I guess I’ll have to consider Comcast, much as I hate them, &/​or go buy another Actiontec router.

This company has bought up landlines and Internet services in California and other states. Before I had Verizon. They are still calling themselves Verizon in Los Angeles but they are now Frontier. I can honestly say this company is one of the shadiest I have ever dealt with. They hold onto your refunds for three months, triple your rates for lousy service and lie to you over the phone. Their customer service is terrible. I feel sorry for people in rural areas that are stuck with them. I highly recommend you not sign up with this company in any state for telephone or Internet services. You will definitely reget it.

This company has no idea how to communicate with its’ customers or potential customers. I have been trying for 2 mths to get them to come out and set up my internet. They have stopped by without an appointment and simply left a note, no calls or anything. The 1 date I actually had an apt with a two hour window (took time off from work), they didn’t bother to come by or call. When I call back, they suggest the next available apt. is 1 mth out. This amazes me, if they weren’t so cheap I would tell them to pound sand, which is what they deserve.

This is great! I always wanted 3^rd world Internet at 1^st world prices! Finally a company that understands me, thank you frontier for take 2 weeks for the most basic download and always stopping my netflix in the middle of a dramatic part in my show, I guess I’ll find out what happens next week when you decide to work again!

Great customer service at this store!!! Personable, attentive and patient reps here. No waiting on hold for ever either! I had an awesome experience and always go back whenever something isn’t right or I need help.

I called the 1 800 number listed when I signed up for Internet service in June. They said they would call me the day before my installation to give me a time window. No one called so I called them that evening. They couldn’t find my order! Finally after searching and searching, they found me. Got the Internet installed, was horrid. Husband called a few weeks later and they couldn’t find us!!! After searching and searching they found us. They ran a test, and determined that the exterior cable they installed was bad. They replaced cable seemed to be better. I had not received a bill and finally some one from their collections department called me. I said I would be happy to pay a bill if they would send me one. She read off my address, totally wrong, email address totally wrong but obviously she had my phone number. I should say in the beginning they had my name spelled wrong and I was told that they couldn’t change it until the first bill was issued. Asked the collections lady to send me a bill in email, it never came. Spent over 45 minutes on phone with them today to get it all straightened out and was asked during the conversation 3 times why again are you calling? «I want a bill so I can pay»!!! She couldn’t find me which I said well your collections can! When she finally found me, my address was still wrong, told her I have a PO Box in my small town, it’s not my physical address with the next neighboring city! Then she wanted to know if I also knew the physical address of where the post office is… are you kidding me? I don’t want my post offices address on my bill, I want my post office box address on my bill. So then she says I can take your payment for you… terrific! Oh, I’m sorry our system is down. Let me send you to collections they can take your payment… sorry ma’am their system is down too. Oh and I was told they can’t correct all the errors until my bill is paid. Even though I can’t get a bill because they have a wrong address, wrong email, misspelled name on my account, and God knows what else. Frontier is a nightmare!

I wish I could give Frontier less than 1 star
I just moved into a new place and tried to set up new service. They skipped out on the installation date and didn’t even bother to call me. This evening I was on hold with customer service for an hour and dealing with someone who had no clue what was going on.
Apparently the previous tenant has some sort of service that he or she didn’t close out and its somehow preventing them from installing my service even though I’ve lived at the new rental for a few weeks…
These people are idiots!
The Cust. Service line you get put on hold FOREVER but the sales line they pick up right away.
Call Cust. Serivce at 1−800−921−8101 BEFORE you call to sign up!!! it’ll give you a feel for what kinda service they really have.
AVOID FRONTIER! COMCAST IS ACTUALLY BETTER IMHO.

Called the 1 – 800 number on the website to set up service in Everett after moving into my new apartment. Arranged a time window for installation about 2 weeks in advance (I was willing to wait for a Saturday). Never got a confirmation like they said I would, so I called 2 days before and was assured they were still coming. The modem they said they were shipping to me never arrived. They never showed. When calling customer service, they were always closed and the automated message said to call back during their regular business hours (and they don’t tell you what those hours are). Their customer service department has still not responded to my follow up email (it’s been over a week).
I’m glad I got this foreshadowing of just what a pain in the ass it would have been to be one of their customers. I had been trying to avoid Comcast, but Frontier has shown me that the alternative they offer is much worse.

Wow! When this was GTE (pre-​Verizon buy and pre-​Verizon sell to Frontier) — this was some awesome service and customer service. Now? Nope.
You should note that Frontier Communications is one of the WORST companies in America to work for. Makes it clear, then, why all of the issues and complaints.
Recently, it took me over 10 days to get my internet figured out. I should get a bill credit for all of the time the internet was down and all of the time, long and drawn out doing the same thing that I had been told multiple times by multiple people — they should credit my bill for the work I did for them.
Then, tonite, I learn from my son who thought he was getting new internet service from Frontier that, OH, NO — they don’t have enough «nodes» to get him internet service right now. He ordered internet on the 16^th of April and on the 17^th — all of the nodes were gone! Well, Heck — since he ordered it the day before — did ya think to save him a node?
He waited a week and then I guess he had to call them when no one showed up.
What the H is up with this company? Where are the managers and others who give a crap about customer service and getting their service to work.
Interestingly, you never see Frontier as part of any of the companies who provide dollars or help/​assistance to any philanthropic agencies in Everett. And Everett is supposed to be their NW HQ!
Seriously, going to think about (not Comcast) something else. Have to. Need to. I only wish the internet was regulated like telephone because then perhaps the Washington PUC might get involved and MAKE this company perform. Maybe it’ll be better when they get a new CEO? Doubt it since the new one I’m sure was trained by the old one.

Oh dear Lord another phone call another hour of my life wasted with frontier communications customer service. Or should we call it no ma’am no service for you. After getting the car sales type runaround and hearing the type type analyze I asked to speak to customer service specialist mind you I had to wait an additional 14 minutes for that person to actually arrive on the line at that point I had already called from my cell phone to speak to another supervisor. Really what was the point of me being on the phone for half an hour waiting for a customer service specialist when you can’t even answer a simple question to begin with? By the time I was on the phone with the magically appearing supervisor and the magically disappearing other customer service representative I was at my limit I have called every three or four months because the bill keeps changing it magically changes every three months just like clockwork. Then I’m informed we have failed to charge you Washington state taxes for the last year so instead of back billing you were going to collect the taxes we failed to collect starting March 15. Okay but do you really want me to believe for one minute that the new Washington state Communication Taxes that you’ve previously ignored is actually 25% BS! So somehow you want me to believe that my previous bill of $ 28 has jumped an additional $ 8.95 and that alone is in taxes what are you kidding me? So you’re either rolling in your missed taxes into my current bills so you’re not actually collecting back taxes you’re just making up for it or? Needless to say within my one hour conversation I could not get a straight answer from not one but two Frontier employees, a customer service representative (14 minutes) and an escalation team supervisor (42 minutes including the waiting) Well the only thing that got escalated is my need and want to rid myself of the evil frontier business. So I’ve calculated that I will save at least 4 to 5 hours Per year and not dealing with frontier communications. And ghee wiz wasn’t there a wave cable flyer in my mail on Tuesday saying I could get telephone Internet and cable all for $ 100 for the next 24 months that seems pretty darn cheap considering how much I have to deal with DirecTV and frontier communication. Hands-​down the worst ever most untrustworthy communication telephone company I’ve ever experienced, AT&T has a better rating in my book then you and their pretty low on my totem pole. Please note… Your employees are rude and dance to a tune called spin the customer, twist and pull their hair out watch them squirm each time They are put on hold. And Barbie in Wa. You need a new job honey you failed to calm your customer nor did you get the endearment of me happily paying to get screwed by Frontier yet again. All I heard in my head all your jaws were jacking off was «liar liar pants on fire» I’ve recently decided to listen to these voices and make and take action… Have a good night I will be starting my Internet search for real customer service and a real Internet company and a telephone company that doesn’t try to tell me I have a landline when indeed I have voice over Internet protocol… At least when I pay waste management I really know they are taking out my trash.

The only service I use from Frontier is Internet. I rent their modem and router as well. My internet CONSTANTLY goes out. Daily! Several times a day! Frontier has sent people out, checked my lines, checked my modem and run every test. I have done a hard reset on the modem under their techs instructions which left me with ZERO internet until a service person could come out 5 days later. I wish the tech would have told me that instead of crappy Internet service I would have none, or I wouldn’t have done the hard reset as I work from home and require Internet. I have at last been told «There is nothing we can do. You are in an area of high volume and there is plans to upgrade the hardware near you in the future to supply a better connection.» That being said, the service people, techs and customer service are some of the kindest people. That is the reason they get two stars. But I need a product that does what is is supposed to so –3 stars for paying for a service that they can’t provide in my area. (South end of Lake Stevens) Needless to say, I’m switching to Comcast this week.

Wish we could give zero stars. Slowest internet around, especially in the evening. Tech has been here, we have talked with them on the phone, and they have not been able to get the speed they promised. Can’t even watch anything in the evening on Hulu or Netflix without numerous service interruptions. Go Somewhere Else…

Ok, So I have to update my post because I had the tech out to my house yesterday and he was here for about 2 ½ hours. He replaced the unit on the side of my house and checked the lines everything was fine with the unit. So he came into my house and checked the router which wasn’t working it took him a while to figure it out… But what it was was a 3 foot piece of coaxial cable from the wall outlet on my house that connected to the router. Literally never would have thought to check that. I did have to make a call into frontier once a day for a week before I could setup this appointment up. I think I reset my router about 30 times. Unplugged the connection in the garage twice. and did about 50 speed test. Which my connection was so horrible I couldn’t even get a speed test result. My phone line was also not working and what was wrong with that was a tiny wire that connected to either the positive or negative side of the outlet on the inside was broken loose. It took him a while to figure all these things out. I also as a result of all my calls I got refunded all the money from my bill for the first month.
Now my speed test is bascially ⁵⁰⁄₁₀ which is what I pay for.
Back to five stars for me It cost me nothing but a few phone calls. And on top of that I’m not paying Comcast. I will update again if things change. but so far so good.

Upgrading this to 3 stars as the actually connectivity has been hands down better than comcast after the first outage when we first switched over.

As if it couldn’t get any worse. I just found out I have an early termination fee for a contract I never signed. Turns out they renewed my contract without my permission in May and never told me. I was never notified that the contract was in place at any time, including when I cancelled. It was just conveniently put in as a $ 200 charge on my last statement. When I called they said I should have noticed in the fine print on my bill from April that I was being out under contract again. The customer service agent said it was my fault for not reading my bill. OK sorry I didn’t catch the mention of May 2015. It never specifically said new contract, there was just a date in there next to a line item. This is one of the worst and most deceptive business practices I have ever seen. I hope this company goes up in flames. I am so mad right now I can’t even see straight. Screw you Frontier

My experience with Frontier was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. First of all, the sales rep outright lied to me about the connection speed I would receive with Frontier, and talked down the competition. It took over 3 weeks to get the service to work, and phone calls to customer service left me on interminable hold, only to be disconnected with no return call as promised. The online chat was useless, and it took 5 days to get an email response from their tech support. When I called to cancel my service, the rep told me it would take 8 days to cancel, which I would have to pay for.
My advice: DON’T GET FRONTIER INTERNET! It’s TERRIBLE!

FiOS — «you wont experience a slow down during peak hours» You do, we pay for ⁵⁰⁄₁₀ and during peak we get 3.5÷10 … yes 3 and a half.
FiOS TV — really great pic, but the on demand relies on the Internet and during peak hours… when you watch TV the most, you can forget it.
Billing: Confusing, quite a bit more than you were expecting.
Overall: Bring lots of K-​Y to this party!

The internet speeds were fantastic for the first 6 months or so but they eventually got slower and slower.
I usually like to relax and play video games at night (10pm) while my wife watches her TV shows. For the past 3 – 4 months, this has been nearly impossible. I have been getting PING of 100‑1700, which makes video games unplayable.
The initial customer service was fine. They had me trouble shoot some things but found no solution. Eventually they said that my area was «congested» and that the problem should be resolved by July.
I was patient and waited. It is now almost October and things have only gotten worse. I gave up on sending in email logs of my connection speeds and they have NEVER sent a tech to my house. My emails do not get responded to.
Tonight I live chatted with someone named Aaron and he told me that there is no expected timeframe for my area to receive better connection speeds.
I asked him if I was locked in to my service or if it was a month to month plan. He directed me to their customer service chat which was not even open…
I was so happy with this company but I think its time to go to the dark side and give Comcast a shot…

Uh, I didn’t choose Frontier… it was simply foisted upon us when Verizon sold landline service in our area. So we’ve kept our landline so we could use DSL, supposedly «the fastest internet connection available»…well, that’s debatable.
We have experienced outages that customer service, whereever they may be, constantly feel must be on our end, even though it’s always been proven to be on their end and at night the service is so slow, it’s very frustrating. I work nights so when I get home, I expect the same fast speed at all times, but it’s not. Calling customer service I was told, well, it’s probably because there is so much more internet activity at that time of night, whatever that means; it makes no difference to me because I pay for «the fastest internet connection available». If their equipment is inadequate, it’s not my fault, they need to step up their game. We’re nearly at the point we will drop the landline altogether and probably go w/​wireless cable internet, just because the customer service is so uninformed and incapable of fixing problems and because service should always be fast, no matter what time, no matter how busy the system is. I would not have chosen Frontier, given a variety of providers. I was happy w/​Verizon. Not happy with Frontier.

I have land-​line and DSL with Frontier, who bought landlines from GTE years ago. Every time I have any issue, I can reach someone on the phone almost immediately. It used to take like 20 minutes with GTE, that’s IF I got through at all.
I really appreciate that there’s no run-​around.
