Hearthstone at Merrill Creek

We loved living at hearthstone! All the staff are helpful and engaged! Community events are fun. Amenities are kept up great. As are the grounds. Unfortunately we had to move for work. We will miss this community!

I apologize if this is long, but please read if you are considering this apartment complex. Everything seemed fine at first glance, but after moving in, I have had nothing but problem after problem. The biggest problem that I have had is the noise. There is no insulation in these walls. I can hear everything from my neighbors’ footsteps to the cars driving by outside. You will spend the night listening to water draining through pipes (louder than I have ever experienced before), hearing your neighbors’ tvs/​stereos, door slams, car alarms, wind gusts, & hearing and FEELING the vibrations from neighbors’ washer/​dryers. The first time I felt my neighbors’ washer running, I thought there was an earthquake. Besides the noise, you’ll surely find other annoyances. My apartment clearly was not ready to be moved into when I arrived. The carpet had been cleaned, but there were many small stains left. After closer inspection and smell, they appear to be pet stains. My dryer was also in poor shape. The lint filter was never cleaned and the dryer door was absolutely stuffed with lint and animal fur. My refrigerator was advertised as having an ice maker, which it does. Unfortunately, the fridge is not hooked up to a water source, so instead of making ice, it just takes up half of the freezer space. Other problems include: wobbly faucets in both the kitchen and bathroom, dishwasher is not attached to the cabinets, so the entire thing moves when I open the door, the thermostat doesn’t work (fireplace just starts and stops whenever it feels like it), missing knobs on cabinets, grease stains on walls in kitchen, poor paint job, closet doors do not fit the frame properly, cold air coming from all doors and windows, painted-​over cable outlet (renders it unusable), and so many other things. I cannot list them all.
Not only will you have problems with your apartment, but it will be incredibly overpriced. The rent may seem somewhat reasonable at first glance, but look for the hidden charges. I am spending over $ 300 more each month in fees than my agreed upon rent. You will also have to deal with people coming into your apartment when you are not home and with no warning. I have come home to my door being left unlocked by these people. It is completely unacceptable and their idea of a solution is to simply apologize unconvincingly. The office workers seem nice, but I have overheard them speaking poorly about other residents. I wonder if they say the same things about me now. It is completely unprofessional. Lastly, don’t believe the pictures you see online. They have updated a few apartments for photos/​tours and the rest are not nearly as appeasing.

My family and I have lived here for 4 years and LOVE it! The layout of our home is very accommodating to our needs. They have several floor plans that will fit anyone’s needs. You definitely get what you pay for! Not a «cheap» property but rather upscale for the hard working middle class! Our favorite part of living here is the property staff. They are very attentive to our needs and solve any problems we may have in a timely manner. As my husband and I save to purchase our first home, we feel this is the best place to live in the meantime! Highly recommend!

This was the absolute worst experience with apartment management that I have had. At first, we were impressed with the professionalism and the willingness they had to work with us from across the country to find a place for us. Little did we know, it was probably because they were losing people right and left and were desperate for new move-​ins. Once the papers are signed and you’re stuck, any professional courtesy you may have come to expect goes out the window!
I have a large list of grievances, but I’ll only list a few. First off, there is dog poop ALL OVER the community. As far as we could tell, no effort was made (no signs or anything posted) on the management’s part to keep residents in line. Do they not realize that is a public health concern?
Secondly, the parking situation is awful. We did have a garage, but needed to use it for storage (because you wouldn’t believe the lack of closet space in these apartments) so we didn’t park in it. Unless you pay for a covered spot, it’s best to never leave the apartment unless you do so between 9 am and 2 pm, after that, your parking becomes impossible.
Third, the management staff is extremely rude, not to mention uninformed. One day our «secured access» door wasn’t working and I was locked out of the building. I went to the office to notify them. The girls were standing around the couch talking casually and looked annoyed that I had interrupted their precious discussion time, but they told me they would send the maintenance person over and in the meantime I could use the other access to the building. I asked if it was the same code and they informed me that it was. I went in put in the code, and it was not the same. So I went back to them and told them it wasn’t the same and one girl looked at me and said, «It’s the same exact code. Only one building has two different codes and it isn’t yours.» She was very rude with her tone. So I went back to try again and after getting quite frustrated the maintenance man showed up and I told him my plight. He informed me that the code was not, in fact, the same as the other and told me the correct one.
We had many issues with this complex, but if I could rate one thing very high, it would be the maintenance staff. They were always quick, reliable, and friendly. I really liked them. It’s too bad their bosses weren’t on their level.
In short, I advise you to look elsewhere to live in Everett. It isn’t worth the money here.

Pretty apartment complex, everyone seems nice until u move out. Walls are not well made, you can hear everything from the neighbors and outside. Location is good, easy to access the free way.
There were break in other aprtment with garage. Thankfully our unit didnt have any break in.
Parking is teriable, its first come firt serve. Unless u have garage or carport.
Talked to the worker about our moving out and explain that we need blinds replacement and she told us the cost. She said the moving out fee will most likely be $ 15 just for the blinds replacement (4 edge of the blinds got bent and torn ~4inche) since our apartment was clean and left in good condition.
Moving out fee is rediculous. They charge us $ 150 for painting fee. We did not hang anything on the wall or made any mark on the wall. None of our furnitures touch the walls. If they want to repaint the wall they should pay for it. Not us. When we didnt do anybdamage to it.
They charge us $ 60 for carpet deep cleaning… we deep clean the all the carpet before we left. If i know they charge us for it… i wouldnt have waste my time and money to rent a deep cleaner to clean the apartment
They also charged $ 80 for other cleaning needs. We are very clean people. The only thing that need cleaning/​replacement are the stove rim. But that happen with usual wear and tear. If i know they would charge that much i would have bough a new rim for the stove and replace it for cheaper price.
If there were stains anywhere it from before we moved in. It also noted in the move in check list. Apparently they dont ceck our checklist.
Bottom line beware of the moving out fees. Its BS.

Beware! Things are not what they appear here. I rented short term, for three months at this location. Please note the three month duration. I did not sleep in the bedroom I rented, nor did I move any furniture into the unit, because I wanted to wait until I permanently moved. The carpet cleaning lines are still visible from when I moved in.
I approached the managers on site, Rachel and Ian not once but twice. I stated I wanted to pay in full what I owe and give notice I was moving out. This computation is a moving target for them, until they try and gouge you for cleaning and other strange calculations. The bottomline, here is you cannot trust what they say.
They showed me a leaf on the entryway as a visual evidence of leaving the place dirty. I asked Rachel, would it do me any good to hire a cleaner before I leave. She said no, they charge everyone. So, I was willing to pay their $ 200, even though I lived in this place such a short period of time, it was like new in a couple hours of cleaning. They wanted to charge me over 125% of their quote. And they are completely inflexible. I told them to send it to collections.
The method they have of collecting utilities is very odd. You will get a bill from the utility company and if you pay it, they will bill you for it a second time.
Dont get caught in this apartment complex of lies and dealing in bad faith. Look elsewhere. There are many places in the area. Dont settle for fraudulent smiles and deciet

Even though I just moved into Hearthstone, I think it is safe to say this place is pretty great. I moved here from out of state and Ian was great at keeping me updated on what was available and getting me into an apartment I loved.
I had a few maintenance issues when I first moved in due to the renovation but the maintenance crew was on it. They were super fast and efficient, the first time they were here less than 5 minutes after I called in the problem!
The official five star came this morning. The snow brought down a tree in front of my apartment and the leasing office called to let me know so I could move my car in case the tree next to it came down too. Great to know that they are looking out for me (and my car)!.

If you are looking for a beautiful place to live, this is it. And if you want great customer service, ask for Rachel. She made the move in process so easy and smooth. She told us how to sign our lease online, we were able to pay deposits and any move in money online. How easy. She is great. Very informative about the property. She really knows her stuff. I love our stainless steel appliances, all of the natural light from the windows and MY HUGE WALK IN CLOSET. Plus, dont forget that Boeing discount. Thank you Rachel, fornhelping us find our new home. You Rock. I look forward to recommending more people to your lovely community.

I’d like to add a follow up to my review and state that we responded to the person from corporate who replied to my Unilocal comments. We emailed our concerns after speaking on the phone, as she requested, and she emailed back that management is right and we are wrong. When we called her back, she hung up on us. This is from the head of customer service for the corporation that owns this apartment. Everything she says is bullshit. I was told by an attorney that that is how it is in Washington. I’ve lived in six states and have never been treated this bad. On a side note, I want add that the maintenance crew is the best I’ve ever seen. They are very quick to fix a problem and treat everyone with respect.

WARNING/​DONT DO IT! I wouldnt recommend moving here! Looks good to the eye but very cheaply built!

There are secure entrances and regular 3^rd level apartments that require stairways to enter and depending on if you are on the main level you will hear footsteps that will sound like someone is coming through the wall and ceiling.
The tenants above me have 7 people living with them! So this has been a nightmare for me. We try to speak to the leasing center and the tenants however no resolution. The tenants just claim they dont know what were talking about and the other tenant blamed it on his kids but still allow the noise to get worse. 3 kids running around all day sliding down the stairs etc. Add 4 adults to that constantly stomping around. I believe someone sleeps/​lives in the living room as well.
They are loud all day and night long! No consideration or respect for anyone else-​there is nowhere i ca go in my apartment for piece and quiet! You would think they would get a house with all those people. Leasing office doesn’t care; they claim quiet hours start at 10pm! What is this madness? Anything for a dollar! I dont understand how they would make a top level available for 7 people let alone 3 kids! Makes no sense to me.
I just moved to this state 3 months ago and I hate it here at Hearthstone at Merrill Creek! EXPENSIVE rates for HORRIBLE quality!!!
Parking is horrible!
Every time someone in a different apartment flushes their toilet there is noise of pipes or something in my apartment!
Dog poop all over the community!
Near the woods so I see rats all the darn time.
Front gate always gets stuck!
FAR from a market… I would say 5 miles!!!
VERY POORLY BUILT COMMUNITY!
