Daniel MacDonald is a professional photographer based in Fair Oaks, California, and he serves the photographic needs of diverse clients throughout Northern California with an emphasis on Weddings and Portraits. He uses both analog film cameras and digital capture to express his artistic vision and to achieve the finest level of craftsmanship. Based in the Sacramento area, he is available for commissions from the rugged coast of Mendocino and Sonoma Counties, through the Napa Valley wine country, and up into the mountains around Tahoe.
History
Established in 2005.
Raised on the Mendocino Coast of Northern California, I was exposed to a fertile creative environment that encouraged individuality and artistic expression. Early in life I discovered that through photography I could crystallize and record moments, and in this medium render how I see the world into something tangible and tactile that I could then share with others.
As a photographer I aim to recognize and respond to serendipity, always poised to capture the decisive moment when all the visual and soulful elements of a composition come together. This consciousness is the guiding principal of my images and of my working philosophy.
My 20 years in the field of professional photography covers a wide spectrum of subjects and experiences, from festivals to snowboarding to corporate annual reports, but weddings is where all the pieces come together and my skills really shine.

In addition to being a professional photographer for most of my adult life — and an avid amateur for many years before that — I am also a loving and dedicated husband who is still totally in love with his wife after 17 years together. I am blessed to be the very proud and very fortunate father of a radiant little redheaded girl named Tallulah, and a very active infant daughter named Ambrose. For personal recreation and revitalization I am an enthusiastic road cyclist and snowboarder and backpacker, and I am also a voracious reader of books. I am calm and good natured, dependable and kind, honest and meticulous… And an excellent cook!
