The Point Diner

Yesterday we order for delivery chicken quesadilla and Manhattan Clam Chowder, the soup almost didn’t have any clams at all, it was all veggies, and the quesadilla was regular. Not the best experience, but also not the worst.

I’ve been coming to this place for 15+ years, and eating in was never a problem for me. However, their delivery and customer service have reached an all new low.
I ordered through GrubHub. I ordered kids’ chicken tenders, and a quesadilla at 9:36pm, and it didn’t arrive at my house until 11:32pm. I called the diner, and they said it was «walking out the door now» at around 10:45. The GrubHub app said it was prepared at around 9:40, so I asked if it was sitting there for about an hour. She said no. I contacted GrubHub to cancel at around 11, and the representative said the manager, Danny, called me to notify it was late, and NEVER ACTUALLY CALLED ME.
Food got to me ice cold, no apology from the driver, anything. I called Danny, who offered another delivery… I asked him how I can trust it wouldn’t get to me before 2am? He then hastily offered me a refund, and hung up on me before I even finished my sentence.

Coffee was not even warm waitress was overwhelmed and took 20 minutes to come back to get me half-​and-​half I told her I was ready to order and she said she’ll be with me in one minute 15 minutes later I got up and paid the bill for the coffee and walked out forks and knives were not clean on the table meanwhile the people next to me were getting antsy because they were seated and no one came to offer them water, where can you find good old diner food in Northern New Jersey again this place has gone to shit!

The usual diner items, breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, still tasty.
Tip: Do Not order delivery unless you’re willing to wait two hours for arrival.
Pick Up orders have always been on the spot for 15 – 20 minute pick up time.

I’ve only ever gotten delivery from here, so I can’t speak to the service, but I’ve always been very happy with the food. Typical dinner fare, but there are a few items you don’t usually see, my favorite of which is the stuffed french toast. A hangover cure on a plate, it’s a buttery, crusty piece of french toast with ham and cheese inside.
Points deducted for mixing up a few items on my orders and for taking a full hour to deliver.

This is a local diner I have been to millions of times. I have to say it is usually hit or miss. I also feel they are better at breakfast then lunch.
Recently my husband and I have been ordering delivery from them A LOT. I like the delivery service the food is always hot, and as ordered. No problems so far. I’m sure I will definitely be ordering or dining in the restaurant again in the near future.

The service here is horrible. I went on a Sunday around 1pm, the crowd was normal Sunday post church crowd. I was seated fairly quickly and the waiter ran over saying he will be with us in a minute. Then he comes doesn’t know soup of the day and could only handle one thing at a time. We placed our order and wait about 40 minutes, just for the waiter to come and tell us «chicken fingers no more». What kind of diner runs out of chicken fingers and then waits over 40 minutes to let the customer know? I was pushed into ordering something I didn’t want just to wait another 40 minutes before the food came out.

Worst diner. Would not recommend to anyone. Ordered 2 milkshakes and an order of fries. My order took an hour to arrive (2 milkshakes and fries??) and obviously they were warm and milky and the fries were soggy and Cold. Very disappointed and upset.

Love the point diner. Came across it while driving and used to be a Gotham City diner customer but the Point with their great customer service, delivery service, and food I switched. They always get the order right and beat their estimated delivery time. It’s awesome. Try it.

I’ve been coming to The Point since I was a kid. The food is your typical diner food, always clean and always good. Service can be hit or miss because some of the waitresses can have an attitude. The busboys and runners are all good, as is the hostess.

Took 1 hour to deliver breakfast. I called and tried to cancel originally bc of the delivery time and they promised 30 minutes but still no show for 60 minutes. Food was nothing special. Try another place

My first time at this diner with my husband. We went for breakfast and were pretty happy over all. After ordering we waited about 15 minutes or so for our food. The waiter was friendly and attentive. I really liked that the menu we received was geared for breakfast only and was not a huge 10 page menu that other diners normally provide. The food was good with good size portions. The only thing I didn’t like was that the plates didn’t come with anything complimentary (small juice or toast). Which I guess these days is pretty standard to not include anything. Total price came to about $ 30 including the tip.

Worst fries and burger I had. I order for delivery and come on Tim that’s the 1 star but i don’t even eat even a little cause when I open oh really disappointing the curly fries smells burn and too oily the cheeseburger sandwich is also oily can’t eat, I’m hungry when I saw the food make me full. This is the first and last I will order here

Horrible!!! Do not even lose your time going there. Food was bad, expensive and service was just ok. That used to be such a great place a few years ago… What happened???

It’s a so-​so diner that is rather over-​hyped by some people. I’ve been to this diner a couple times and I always leave unimpressed. The menu has a decent amount of options such as pasta, burgers, and sandwiches. The food is nothing special, the portions are rather small, and the prices are ridiculous for what you get. I wouldn’t have a problem if I get what I pay for in a reasonable manner. I recommend going to the Gotham Diner for your money’s worth.

It’s a pretty good diner food-​wise; wait staff is historically very hit or miss however.
If you get a good waiter (and it seems they are on the up-​and-​up with regards to wait staff), it’s one of the best diners around.
And be careful with the short rib grilled cheese– it’s my favorite sandwich there but they run out of short rib sometimes and make it with another cut of meat.

Walked in here and got a table quick and was happy with that. Then comes the clock watching — 10 minutes goes by, 15, 20, 25 min and finally someone goes — has anyone helped you. We order our drinks and then say, «we are ready to order also» (it has been almost 30 min so we do want to get this food in)
They said hold on and then now we wait again for someone else to come like ten minutes later and take our food order.
What made it worse is that they didn’t even acknowledge that they took forever or that no one was coming to us — just ignored is and then acted as if there was nothing wrong.
Once our order was placed, they took forever — and surprisingly my order was last — matter of fact, my wife and daughter finished their food before mine even got there. Then I thought, maybe they were discriminating because here was no way that I would get off an hour later since I have been here — it’s a freaking diner.
Good thing there are hundreds of diners around so I don’t have to come back here again and it’s funny because this wasn’t my first time here — all well BLVD diner, Gotham diner, brownstone or somewhere else next time.

I’ve ordered from here 3 times already, all of them delivery. I’m a little conflicted. It’s not exactly inexpensive so I do kinda expect excellent service. The second time I ordered the guy who took my order was incredibly rude. However the lady I spoke to the other 2 times was pleasant enough.
The food is pretty good but 2 out of the 3 times the order arrived incomplete. Most recently ordered a Mexican burger that came without the pico de gallo and without the guacamole. It didn’t taste great. Didn’t even have it in me to call them and go through the whole dance so I dropped it. But I paid $ 64 plus tip for 3 meals so it’s a little upsetting. But I am a glutton for punishment so I will probably order at least one more time from there.

This diner is the best local diner! (and I’m not a diner type girl). However I ordered grilled chicken salad, hubby got burger for delivery and the staff has always gotten it right! And food is still warm upon arrival (kudos :). We ate in house a few times. Grilled chicken pesto salad, pickle fries And cblt quesadilla (I need to have 1 cheat day! Lol) amazing. Staff is great

Other reviews are sooooo right… such a horrible restaurant. If you could call it one. I’m sorry, but some of the staff doesn’t even speak English. He didn’t understand what the HOT SAUCE was…
