Albertsons

What is going on with the meat at Albertson’s (and now Von’s since the merger)? Last night, I purchased some chopsteaks to cook for lunch. This afternoon I went to cook them and as I was adding some seasonings to the pan, I got a whiff of rot. The meat was bad. I looked at the package date, and it says sell thru 5÷16÷16. That would be today.
This is not my first experience with bad meat, especially chicken. Honestly, I don’t think the store is to blame, but I can’t guarantee that. The meat from the butcher seems fine, and they are usually very friendly. And the carne asada is amazing (when it is on sale). It seems to be the packaged meats that aren’t holding their own. Either their packaging is not air tight or the meats are not fresh to begin with. This is a serious problem because it is consistent across all the raw meat products that are Albertson’s brand.
If you want fresh meat that doesn’t go bad overnight, go to Daniel’s in Bonsall or Ralph’s somewhere else. I don’t buy much meat at Major Market, so I can make no assessment there.
If you don’t mind throwing away a whole lot of money (or running back to town constantly to return the product), buy it from Albertson’s.

I come here every so often and the customer service hasn’t been the best, but today will be the last day I go to this location. This may just be an established and clean place to purchase groceries, but providing customer service is part of their employees’ job description.
I did self check out and a certain deal did not apply to my total, so I looked for the woman that was supposed to be monitoring the self check out area and waved her down because I got locked out of the system when I tried to review my purchase. She did not greet me, reluctantly got me back in the system and asked me what I was trying to do. I told her I wanted to make sure the deal applied to my total and she replied (in a very disrespectful tone) «Well it makes sense that’s your total» and I asked her how and she said (in the same tone) «After tax and crv, it makes sense that’s your total.» I told her «Ok, If you say so» and she repeated herself with «Well if you add tax and crv, that seems right.»
I was not trying to figure out was ‘seems’ right, I wanted to verify a deal their store was offering was calculated off of my total.
It was a bigger waste of my time than the dollar or so I would have saved arguing with this woman that did not want to help or, at the bare minimum, talk to a customer with respect.

This is my Albertsons and it’s wonderful. I buy my grocerys here and spend money. What more do you need?

Not giving just three stars due to the store itself, which is fine. Just to Albertsons marketing techniques. That buy five and get a discount or mix and match is to confusing. As a consumer I am very frugal, but when I see those deals I just end up putting the product back on the shelf. Now it would seem to me that Albertsons would not want that. That is the last thing a market chain wants to hear. So as I place the product back I just say, I guess I will go to WinCo. which is also the last thing I would think Albertsons would like to hear. So all in all if that type of marketing is part of my buying habits I bet I am not alone. Please Albertsons, I would like to shop locally, but it seems I just put things back and leave.

Ive been here a few times and I always feel like I’m walking out with very little and paying way too much. I’ve walked out with 4 items and paid over 60 $.After my last visit I won’t be going again. I bought a pack of tangerines and when I got home they were all smushy and soft! All of them were bad. Better off going to Northgate

Excellent Albertson’s! Very clean with excellent produce and the best cookies. Whenever I don’t have time to go to Costco, I go here.
The staff and very friendly, especially the younger employees.
Things are also easy to find, which is not common in these big grocery stores.

Fallbrook Albertsons– I’ve always had pretty good customer service until this!
They ran an ad for 2 different «Mix or Match 4 items» week of Jan 6^th-​12^th. Very clever wording & I think borderline misleading!
1^st Mix or Match was for certain Quaker Life Products. 2^nd Mix or Match was for GREEN tagged items throughout the store. Key word here… GREEN tagged items. My bad. I didn’t read the fine print. What really ticks me off was the Albertsons employee attitude when I returned said items for a refund! I was really nice when I said I was returning them because the Mix or Match 4 was kind of confusing & I didn’t get the sale price as it didn’t meet the requirement of 4. She had NO RESPONSE and never spoke to me throughout my whole time there getting a refund. Stone face, no apology, no small talk, sorry for the inconvenience, have a wonderful day… nothing!!!
OKAY, so how about this… Laura at Albertsons… What about my time spent driving into town to get a refund? Does my time & gas mean nothing to you? So for me to be inconvenienced, How about saying… gee I’m real sorry about the misunderstanding. Other then that how was your shopping experience? How can we market this better to you? How about just plain & simple when the transaction is done… have a great day!
I guess you are very secure in your Union sacred job & can’t be fired for being rude… but guess what… I don’t have to shop at Albertsons either!!! Major Market will be getting MORE of my business!!!

Went to the deli to get sanwhich meats, David at the deli service counter was great. He gave us samples of cheeses we had not tried before. I now have a new favorite cheese thanks to David. The items were all on sale. And we had the best grill cheese to pair with our tomato soup for dinner. Thank you again David for the wonderful customer service.

The pharmacy in this store is staffed by the most patient, efficient ladies I have ever had the pleasure of having help me. My boys both have asthma and are on various meds every month and I have tried to pick up the inhalers, pills, and nebulizer meds from other places every now and again, and waited 45 minutes and been given the wrong medicine. Never again. We moved away from Fallbrook and I STILL come back here because of how fast and easy the staff here make getting medication.

Albertson’s needs someone to go up and every isles every morning and pull all the products that are expired or molding products nothing more of a turn off than to find these things being sold it happens more and more often and is reported sad to think no one at the store cares till its pointed out them there very sorry it happened, DO something! Till then I’ll drive out of town to shop. Come on albertsons wake up and listen to customers while you have them

If I could give zero stars I would. Most of the female checkers I have experienced are not friendly and just plain rude. Every checkout has been downright awkward as they give weird looks and make condescending comments for no apparent reasons. One checker who was made up like a dime store hooker had conversations with her colleagues over and around me on two separate occasions, refusing to make eye contact or acknowledging me through the checkout process. Another old hag with a Soviet-​like accent seems judgemental and impatient with customers. I’m sorry the best job you can get is as a grocery store checker, hey but you immigrated here. You pay a premium on groceries here, you should expect premium service, but I guess that’s too much to ask. Sadly, there are no other large retail chain grocery stores in Fallbrook such as Ralphs or Vons, so I’ll unfortunately continue shopping here.

I agree with most of the previous reviewers here. the prices are a little high on most items. However, it is true that there are always a few good items to buy or are on sale. It is a good place to shop for convenience but if your looking for cheap prices and great customer service — look elsewhere. This is your average grocery store and yes the lines are usually long. They need to manage there employees better instead of having one line open and three other employees in the store walking around the store doing whatever else it is that they do. I would suggest you only shop here when you absolutely have too and when you need to pick up something you forgot to buy somewhere else.

I got sick (food poisoning) off the diced watermelon. I will never trust this place for store packaged food.

High Prices and low quality store! One of the store managers needs help!
The prices in this location are higher than when we are at our other home in Laguna Beach!
This market had a remodel but was left behind in the chain for sure. The store we visit in Laguna Beach area is by far a nicer location and offers a full service bakery with fresh cooked food as well. The departments at the other location are set up like a small farmers market inside with twice as many service employees.
We understand it is your Fallbrook location but come on please have more specialty items. I am sure you would be pleasantly surprised at how the public here would support this location. As it stands we visit this place only for emergencies.
The cashiers are pleasant and try their best.
Cold cut meat service area needs a lesson in cleaning and servicing customers. WASH YOUR HANDS before you start touching and slicing meats from customer to customer.
On our last visit one of the male, thin, about 6′ tall, blond hair store managers was seen scolding and demeaning one of the younger employees in the isle for all of us to hear. He did it in such a low and vulgar way we almost wanted to tell him off for the poor employee then and there.
It left us with the opinion he has issues and needs a lesson in how to manage and treat people by showing and investing in them to have them care about where they work rather than hoping to get by long enough to get out of the place!

I love that this Albertsons carries everything under the sun… The staff is also super nice and makes conversation at the checkout.

I find that in comparison to the other mom and pop stores in Fallbrook, albertson’s has some jacked prices. And that’s WITH their «value card»!!!
They’re great for things like birthday cakes, special brands or special foods, and last minute items you forgot. They’re also great if you’re a vampire and like to do your grocery shopping at 11:30 PM.
There’s a redbox machine right inside the doors too.
The checkout lines here? FORGET IT! It’s almost as bad as Walmart, with lines stretching down the front of the store and 1 poor, over-​worked cashier struggling to get everyone through.
Customer service here is average. With the exception of a few stellar employees, it’s just your standard «hi, how are you» greetings and «thanks for shopping» when you leave. Pretty much what you’d expect.

No need for human interaction is nice when you are non white in Fallbrook.
I was passing by for donuts and coffee here. 75 cents for donuts is a good alternative to the Starbucks pastry.

I shop here alot. Expensive, but if you look at the weekly deals and use coupons, it can help a bit. For me, its simple: chicken some veggies and usually sandwiches. If i see a good deal on other stuff, ill stock up on. Things like frozen veggies or canned goods, water and what not. Can get packed sometimes but lines move rather quickly.
Need to look more into the other markets around here, El Tigre, Major Market, Northgate, etc…

There’s nothing different about this grocery store from any other because it is just that. Strangely, it’s not the only major grocery store in town, there’s El Tigre nearby, another cool grocery store that specializes in Mexican products too. I think there’s another Mexican store that opened up on the northside of town too. And Major Market! If I forgot about some of the smaller mom and pop stores, I’m sorry?
But, I digress…
But what is special about this Albertson’s is that if you’re looking for coffee and the local coffee shops are closed, the only Starbuck’s in town is found INSIDE.
How’s that for some inside info?! Then again, this info is only good until Starbucks really does open up a shop elsewhere in town, but until then — How’s that for some inside info?!
