Best Banh Mi Ga(pulled chicken). The taste reminded me the taste of Bánh mì Gà in Saigon, before 1975. I have tried Bánh mì from this shop 3 times, and all taste the same, great. I hope they don’t ever change the formula.

For my first trip to Eden Center I dropped by Banh Ta and ordered the pork belly banh mi and the pork bao steamed buns. The banh mi was a good price point, and a solid flavor. But the real standout was the pork bao — easily the best bao I’ve had in the DC area. 2 large baos for $ 4.50, stuffed with steamed tender deliciousness and really good sauce. The shop is cute and has a variety of other products. Definitely worth coming back for the pork bao!

I stopped by a couple days after New Years after seeing it pop up as a nearby location. I saw the pictures others have posted and immediately stopped what I was doing and went to check it out. I ordered the Pork Belly Bahn Mi and an iced coffee and both were delicious. Unfortunately, they did not have any steamed pork belly buns so I will definitely have to come back to try them. The only downside to this place is that there is little to no room for seating.

Came here on a Weds around 2pm. No pork belly. :/Darn, I had wanted to try them. Bought banh bao(white steam bun with meat filling), can of pâté, and one banh mi(the one with pork and pâté). Lemme just say, the bao was so freaken delicious. It was $ 2.50 each. That other reviewer who said they were good was not kidding. I’ve been tired of disappointing bao after disappointing bao. Here they make it just like my mom’s but dare I say better! The bun has enough sweetness in it. It is not bland like all the other bakeries that sell it! It’s got the perfect balance of sugar and milk flavor. The filling is absolutely amazing as well. No peas! The thinly sliced mushrooms and thinly sliced Chinese sausage are dispersed throughout the filling. Perfection! Five stars just for this bao and the next time I go there, I’ll be buying a ton! They keep them in the fridge and they aren’t as big as the other bakeries. So I thought, hmm it might not be as fresh. But it delivered!!! The banh mi I had was pretty good but probably does not hit my top 2 list. Good amount of meat in it. My favorite place lately seems like they’ve been skimping on meat and filling. They do add soy sauce in the sammy here, which I don’t prefer. Good fatty butter and mayo. Can’t comment on the bread as I ate it the next day. Could use a bit more veggies but I always like more veggies. Love the décor and the lady at the register was very nice.

I thought i’d try a different banh mi shop in Eden Center and rolled into Banh Ta for my weekend sandwich routine. This place is small, just enough room for 3 chairs for waiting, but this place is very clean and tastefully styled. You can get many different Vietnamese food and this place gives the feel of a grab and go kinda place. I had the cold cut and the pork belly, both really good. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any bubble tea here but that’s what the other stores are for. Great pricing for a sandwich, welcoming store tenders, and good sandwiches. It makes choosing sandwiches in Eden center difficult now with all these great stores serving banh mi.

Really thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich at this place. The staff was nice and engaging. It was clear that we were new and the cashier definitely tried to sell us on the place. Better than other places in the Eden Center but only marginally more expensive for a banh mi. The pork and lemongrass chicken we got each were on the stronger end of the spectrum for banh mi in the area, and the bread itself was crunchy outside/extra soft inside. There was also a tiny bit more mayo than you typically get on banh mi, which was a welcome change of pace. Saw someone else leave with pork buns, which looked delicious — will try again on the next visit. The vibe of the place is cool, but the interior is very small, so it’s best to call ahead. Our sandwiches took almost 10 mins to make so we were waiting around for quite some time in the cramped store.

New favorite banh mi in the area, bounds better than the competition. Tried the pork belly banh mi and the one with cold cuts and pâté. There is a level of care and ingredient quality that is not found in the other banh mi shops in the area. So grateful they’re here!

This is actually a shop with a terrific kitchen in back. I’m knocking it one star because a kitchen this good should offer more seating, and my wish is that they would expand. If you’re lucky enough to go in a party of 2, you will be able to occupy the exactly 2 seats in the back. Settle in and enjoy their delectable steamed buns and bahn mi. The taste of the productions here exceeds the expectations set by the exquisitely-scripted and decorated menu board. You will undoubtedly be ecstatic at the quality of the food as you sit at the counter decorated with large gourds and Asian fruits, and enjoy their spa-like background music. Caramelized, juicy roasted meats are folded in with tangy, crunchy vegetables in fresh bread. Steamed buns are artfully stuffed with delectable roast meat. Both offer exceptional flavor, the kind that makes the mouth juices run involuntarily. Beyond grilled meats, their cold cut pâté/sausage bahn mi is exquisite. You will absolutely love the # pork belly steamed bun # lemongrass grilled pork bahn mi # pâté(cold meats) bahn mi # crunchy and beautifully presented carrot/cilantro/daikon vegetables in the sandwiches. (The spiced mayonnaise is subtle and hits the spot too). You will also want to taste their Vietnamese iced coffee, which is bitter, sweet, and strong at the same time, a sophisticated combination that no other place in the entire Eden Center is able to pull off(in my humble, but well-traveled-in-Eden-Center opinion). Each time I go to Eden Center I am drawn to this newly-opened shop because of the obviously perfected taste that the kitchen has mastered. I also like the clean lines, calm ambiance, and the friendliness of the staff.

I came just for the meat steamed buns as suggested by someone I knew. The flavor comes directly from the massive amount of fish sauce drenched over the meat/buns…and yeah, it’s to the point where a portion of the buns get soaked too. I tried eating it by picking it up and very soon required several napkins to wipe off all the sauce everywhere. The thumb sized piece of actual meat was unevenly cooked too. half of it was moist while half was disturbingly dry(i’ll upload a pic soon). The steamed bun itself was alright. My biggest gripe is how overpriced it was compared to what you actually get. 2 for 6 dollars, and they’re only average size. The ingredients required to compose one is NOT worth anywhere even half of their price. Honestly, you’re better off spending 4 bucks for a sandwich anywhere else to get MORE meat and MORE veggies. Of course the main difference is bread vs buns, but hey, if you want to spend the extra $$$ for a simple steamed bun, suit yourself. I will say that I like the décor of the place though. and the owner was nice.

As a lifelong sufferer of Menu Anxiety(you know, that awful feeling that results from your inability to order and sample all of the items on a menu that interest you? See, you have it too) I was understandably nervous about my first visit to Eden Center. Among several dozen places to sample banh mi, one of my favorite sandwiches on the planet, how would I ever pick one?! Thankfully, my friend was wiser and more prepared than I, and she steered us to Banh Ta. I had the best banh mi of my life: a true French baguette with a crispy exterior and impossibly fluffy insides; piles of plentiful, tender, lemongrass-scented pulled chicken; long strands of sweet-and-sour pickled carrot and daikon; crisp, fresh fronds of cilantro; and golden yellow homemade mayonnaise. It was a true marriage of East and West, Vietnam by way of Paris. Heaven. I also tried a bite of my friend’s peppery roasted pork and almost liked it better than my chicken. The quality of the ingredients was worth far more than the $ 4 I paid for the sandwich, and judging from past experience as well as the other banh mi I saw that day, it was truly in a class by itself. But the food is only part of the story at a good restaurant, and this one would be incomplete without a few other plot points. The interior, though tiny, is spacious and tastefully decorated with Vietnamese and French specialty grocery items, several of which I’d never seen Stateside before. The owner is gracious, friendly and warm; we felt right at home chatting with her. And there is an equally welcoming nook in the back of the shop where you can sit on comfortable stools at a gleaming granite counter, listening to ambient Zen music, and enjoy your banh mi before it gets cold. It was a tranquil oasis, and after a few minutes there, we were ready to face the Eden chaos with renewed strength.

This place is new at eden center and sure is a welcome addition. We’ve become regulars since this place opened. Beautiful décor and very clean and organized. It reminds me of a Paris bakery. The owner is very friendly and service is great. Their banh mi is the best at eden. I especially like the banh mi thit nuong(roast pork) and banh mi xiu mai(meatball). The bread is nice and crunchy. They also have the buy 5 get 1 free special. I’ve so tried their Café sua da, which is again the best at eden. Not too sweet and just the right amount of bitterness. I tried their egg rolls today and was solid. The only downside is that it takes a little while for things to come out, but I think that’s a good sign that a lot of care and attention went into the making of their delicious food. They do catering too, which I will try soon given how solid their food is overall.

Sure there are other Bahn Mi places throughout Eden Center. Sure everyone says their sandwiches are the best! Sure everyone elses prices might be less expensive! However, you really do get what you pay for! We decided on this place because of Unilocal!Upon walking in, you see shelves neatly arranged with items as well as a marble counter top with a colorful and nicely designed chalk menu board. And the French music adds a nice touch to make you feel like you’ve escaped to Vietnam or a French deli. We told the lady(who was very nice), we found them on Unilocal and it was our first time. We definitely wanted to take advantage of the buy 5 get 1 free bahn mi deal and she also talked us into getting the pork belly bao sandwich! She threw in a free can of pâté to boot. When we got home, we found that she gave us 2 pork belly baos. The bao itself was soft and light. The pork belly was fatty but flavorful. The pickled veggies added a nice acidic element to cut thru the fat and added a crunchy texture! Not a fan of their mayo though. The bahn mi was delcious. The bread crispy on outside and soft/airy inside. We requested everything on the side except the meats. The lemongrass pork was fantastic! Beautiful grilled sweet and salty flavor and when u add the veggies, perfect! Definitely be back here again!!! Nom nom nom…

Horrible experience, poor customer service, and subpar food. Will not be returning to this establishment. I purchased a certificate on to try out this new deli in Eden Center. The site and paper print out clearly state the certificate is valid for $ 10 with a minimum purchase of $ 20. I attempted to order six banh mi sandwiches(buy 5 get 1 free). The cashier had no idea what the certificate was nor how to ring it up. After inquiring with the owner, both returned and informed me that the certificate was only valid with a $ 40 minimum purchase(despite it staying otherwise in the certificate itself). The employee even brought up the website in their defense, however, the website clearly indicated the minimum purchase required was $ 20. After much back and forth, I was finally allowed to use the certificate but they acted like they were doing me a favor and that I was in the wrong. And to top it off, because they«chose» to honor the certificate, I was not eligible for the«Buy 5 Get 1 Free» deal. Seriously? Now to the food. Much room for improvement. 1. Sandwiches were small — much smaller than your typical sandwiches from other shops in the area. 2. Everything was bland. Pulled chicken. Bland. Cold cut. Bland. Roasted pork belly. Excessively fatty and bland. 3. Bread was stale and dry. Must’ve been old bread. 4. Meat to veggie ratio was completely off. Way too much veggies and not enough meat.

If there is a zero star, i would definitely give to this bakery. I was extremely mad when i got the service from them. I always want to support new business, especially vietnamese business that want to be trendy to attract customers. I went the on the second day they opened. I ordered 2 banh mi, and i have to say. THISISTHEWORSTBANHMITHAT I EVERHADFORTHEPAST10YEARS I HAVEBEENINTHEUS. First, it took them 45 mins to make 2 banh mi. I do understand that they just opened, so the services might be a bit clumsy. However, 45 mins for 2 banh mo when i was the only customer there was unacceptable. Second. The banh mi was HORRIBLE. They used old banh mi from yesterday. It was dry and chewy. It has no taste whatsoever. Now come to the meat. The red meat was tasteless. I only can taste the mayonnaise… And it was not even a good kind. The bbq pork was so wet and has a weird texture. I felt like i was eating a napkin. The size of the banh mi was small. The price is expensive And this… MYFRIENDHAS A DIARRHEARIGHTAFTERWEATE. Im sorry. But i will never step in this bakery ever again. Unless i have the need to visit the bathroom right away Stay away from it

I ordered two banh mi to-go: the standard thit nguoi, which is my litmus test for any Vietnamese deli, and the xiu mai. Xiu mai are pork meatballs that are steamed and then simmered in a tomato sauce, but the sauce is not as thick as the Italian meatball variety. The price was somewhat on the high side at $ 4, but it seems this is the price most are charging nowadays.(There are some delis that still sell their banh mi for $ 3.50, though.) Keep in mind I did not intend to eat the banh mi straightaway as we were on our way to dinner. The following day at home, I heated my broiler on low and carefully toasted the baguette with meat inside until it was a light golden brown.(Some people remove the cold cuts prior to toasting the bread.) I then stuffed it with the pickled veg, omitting the jalepeno. The verdict? Really excellent banh mi and quality of meat! Firstly, the bread is larger than most other delis, and resembles more of a sub roll in size. Secondly, the pickled veg and cucumber are julienned very fine and thin. They even include thin strips of green onion, which I usually don’t see from other places. The meats were generous and not too fatty, and the amount of pâté was just right. The day after, I ate the xiu mai and that was also delicious. Sometimes xiu mai can be a bit too greasy, and some places give you really small meat balls, which results not enough meat with the ratio of bread. Both sandwiches were fantastic and I would gladly return to sample more of the menu!

I haven’t been in the area for a while, so when I saw this new shop, I had to check it out. The ladies who work here are really friendly. It has a very cute interior with a lot of snacks being sold. They have banh mi and also the Taiwanese style baos. I went ahead and ordered a banh mi thit nguoi, which is the cold cut. The sandwiches do take a bit to prepare, and I was told that the baos would take five minutes to prepare, so it’s not as quick as other places. As for the sandwich itself, it’s borderline pretty good/okay. I’ll probably give it another try when I’m back in the area, but as of now, it’s not my favorite banh mi shop.

Having grown up eating many a banh mi,(although in my native Cambodian tongue, we refer to this delicious sandwich by another name), Banh Ta Deli offers the best version of this classic for a reasonable price. I always opt for the traditional cold cut, and Banh Ta did not let me down. The bread was sufficiently crusty, meats were yummy, and just enough veggies to fill the sandwich… my stomach(and my wallet) thanked me. They don’t skimp on the butter/pâté spread, which other places often do. The interior is inviting and most of all CLEAN. It reminds me more of a cute deli I’d find in Georgetown than in Eden Center. I had to subtract a star for not taking debit/credit, even though the pleasant girl at the counter informed us they would soon.
