Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire

I had a flat tire on my all wheel drive audi and needed a new tire but since it was all wheel drive you have to buy four new tires. I didn’t know this at the time but the manager nick was very helpful and gave me a military discount on four michelin premier a/​s tires which are very good tires. My girlfriend needed all four tires for her car and he gave her the same price. Thank you for taking care of your customers. I would recommend this place to everyone I know.

I really wish there was a no star option. This company was the worst to deal with in terms of customer service. They tried charging us for items that we were told weren’t even used during our service, then when asked about them supposedly they were in fact used. Okay, everyone makes mistakes. We take our truck home to find out 2 of our AC pressure caps were missing. Bring back to the store the next day, no caps found. They even told us they took them off another car for us to see if they fit our truck. (???) After 3 different caps we were unsuccessful. The «manager» in charge was less than helpful. He actually couldn’t care less. We told him we would have to go buy new ones, could you refund the $ 65 service for us to go buy new caps (which we already had?) and for our time that we sat there to be told they didn’t have them. He said no, offered to refund half, and sent us on our way. Not even a half of an apology was offered. We are totally word of mouth people so I hope this saves someone some cash and frustration. Find another place! Nick Conrad was the «manager».

I took my 1993 F350 Diesel to the Federal Way location of Pepboys in the middle part of March this year to have the truck given a complete going over for an trip to Mexico starting the first of April.
When all said and done the bill was over $ 5,000.00 to have all the work done.
Of the items that were supposed to be fixed, a oil leak on the passenger side of the motor, a new fuel sending unit on the front tank, there was also a vibration from the rear drive line that needed to be repaired.
I was told that the entire rear nose cone on the transfer case needed to be replace and i was told that it was, but now there is gear oil leaking out of the rear seal. Also the linkage for the the four wheel drive was not installed correctly so the truck cannot be shifted into four wheel drive. There is now also a large mess under the truck from all the oil being flung all over the place.

I returned the truck to the Pepboys the day after I picked up the truck only to be told that it would take longer to fix the issues. I let Pepboys know via an email that I would return the truck to them when I returned to from Mexico
The week after my trip I took my children on a three day getaway and I did not need my truck for the time we were gone. I took the truck to the Pepboys and dropped it off thinking that three days would be more than enough time to fix the issues.
When I picked up the truck, I found that all of the issues that I had asked to be taken care of, none had been address and I was told that I need to bring the truck back at a later date (I was not given a firm date) and I was told that parts needed to be ordered to fix the issues.
It has now been four weeks since I have heard anything from the shop and now I am trying to have the exhaust repaired on the truck and I cannot because of the fuel leak.
A week ago I sent Pepboys corporate office an email and I have not received any responses from them either.
I think it is time to consult a lawyer.

Service at this location (16^th Ave in Federal Way) ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!! The Manager NICK CONRAD (Store #1474) is such a people person, and so customer service oriented; but most important he knows the automotive repair, tire and parts and retail industry. He will not BS you, or over charge. NICK is a straight shooter and genuinely cares about his customers!!! I looked online and found a $ 34.99 Manager Special for Oil Change that included new windshield wipers. I thought «cool, great deal.» It turned out NICK had not heard about this deal yet, he had not received word from corporate about this deal, but NICK and MARY took absolute great care of my suv, and made this deal happen… now that’s customer service!!! MARY is Awesome too! She worked on my tire repair, MARY knows her stuff!!! All the workers at this location are freakin Awesome; I just do not know all their names. NICK and MARY are the ones who serviced me for my oil change. However, I’ve been there before for a tire repair and burnt out tail light, and always had great service. I thought a JUSTIN helped me once, but as I said every employee I’ve dealt with there was Great!!! My employer arranged to have the new tires out on. I called and made a well appt because I didn’t want to have to wait.
They were polite and quick to check me in, and now the van is in the shop and tires are getting done.
They are shorthanded but that’s not slowing them down.
Very satisfied at this point…
But that didn’t last long. The tires were not the ones we had ordered, they had 10,000 miles less on the warranty period and they cost just as much. The invoice didn’t even have the correct information on it regarding the vehicle.
If they slacked on something as simple and easy as typing something in to a computer what did they do to the vehicle?
Wouldn’t return here… even for tire rotations.

Yesterday I spent nearly 4 hours at pep boys getting 4 tires replaced. I was told that it would be done in less than 2 hours and they would pull my truck in right away. Once the service was completed they said there wasn’t any issues and that it just takes a while to change tires. While they were ringing me up I could hear and see my vehicle that is a loud diesel truck being revved and sped around the parking lot. I asked the person who was ringing me up in a concerned tone why the tech was driving my truck like that and she gave me an embarrassed smile and walked away. I ended up spending $ 1200 which is about $ 200 more than I was quoted and I left because I was already too frustrated to bring up the price increase.
I didn’t spend $ 1200 and 4 hours of my time to have my vehicle treated like a hot rod.

I had previously left a review of one star after receiving much less service than I had hoped for. But, I am changing my rating and want to place an updated review here…:after my initial Unilocal review pep boys contacted me right away to apologize and ask for more information about my experience. I did this, and they again responded right away to tell me that I would be contacted within 48 hours to discuss the matter…:.within 24 hours I received a phone call from Nick, the manager at Pep Boys. He apologized for my experience and made the situation right. I appreciate the concern that Pep Boys showed and their prompt attention to resolving the issue.

I went to this location for a simple oil change and asked them to check for a leak on my power steering as I had noticed I needed to fill it up a couple days in a row. I was getting ready to drive across country and wanted to be sure my truck was road worthy. Turns out I had a major failure in the system. I asked them to show me and they took me back in the shop and showed me the failed component. I was informed it would be $ 1300 to fix. I didn’t have it. They worked with me and got the price down to $ 750 by waiving the fees for some services and only fixing what was in the most need of repair while giving me a detailed list of what still needed to be replaced. They ere very polite and courteous. They also completed a complicated job in a very reasonable amount of time.

I only pulled up here because jiffy lube was busy. This would’ve been my 2^nd time here but I had to leave because my greeting was «No parking behind the garage bay doors. Next time don’t do it.»
Their 3 parking spaces were full when I arrived so what was I supposed to do…
Last time I was here a couple years ago for an oil change, was also because other places were busy, and the employee had a smoke break leaning against my car.
Get some professionalism.

I was very surprised how my wife Andrea and I were treated when we went to Pep Boys, although it is a large chain it didn’t feel as if we were getting treated like it was. They were understanding, they trusted that I knew what I needed done, so that made it so I could trust that they were going to be fair and do it right. The service they did on my wife’s car was actually more complicated than what it seemed, but they did it in a jiff still. The price ended up being lower still than what was quoted on the phone, which is remarkable since it was that much more difficult. The mechanic who helped us out was extremely polite and friendly, and it was obvious that he was a hard worker. In the end, we got a deal that no other shop could beat, guaranteed. I am extremely impressed with the service they gave, and will definitely be back.

They sold me defective tires employee threatened me with kung fu violence at auburn store gets promoted to this store now refuses to honor warrenty I will have to sue to resolve this they also tried to get me to buy a whole front end when my mechanic laughed and replaced my shocks pepboys does not know vehicles they will rip you off

This location is an embarrassment to the Pep Boys business. I was just here today for an 8:00am appointment computerized alignment service, which I was easily prepared to pay $ 150+ for.
1 technician walks out the door to get snacks and drinks from Shell, Jeff asks with a scowl on his face, «Why are you here?» No simple good morning or hi, and I inform him that I’m here for my 8:00 am alignment, he says he doesn’t have a technician that is trained to do this until tomorrow. I kindly remind him I set an appointment for 8:00am today, and surely this place wouldn’t waste customer time setting an appointment if they couldn’t do it. He says «yeah, no. I don’t have a technician that can do this today». No apology, aim to come to a solution, or even a care on his face. When customers are treated like this without causing any trouble, they’ll HAPPILY take their business elsewhere. Well Jeff, you have a technician who is well trained in grabbing drinks and snacks, and seeing as how you BOTH are not working right now and sitting around, it might be a good idea to maybe one day get your employees trained on computerized alignment. Learning new skills in any occupation is part of the job you are both not «trained to do» today. I’m not sure how you’re still lucky to call yourself still employed right now with the lack of customer care and sincere bias for inaction. Thanks.

While Alan the assistant manager was nice and friendly and made sure I was seen right away the actual manager was rude when I called after paying $ 200 to fix my AC and it didn’t work. They said they could fix it because I had the Felix guarantee for free.
Then I go there to have it fixed and they said it would be $ 900 to fix because my AC unit couldn’t handle it. I asked for my money back because it NEVER WORKED after being fixed and they said no.
Do not go here!
I left crying because the money I originally spend to fix my AC was supposed to also help me out with my bills and mortgage. I saved up just to get my AC fixed and now it does not work. And now I’m out of the pocket $ 200 with nothing done

Unfortunately it’s surprising when a business stands behind it’s work without hassling it’s customers… I will spare everyone the drawn out details. …bottom line. .Jeff and his Pep Boys team surprised the heck out if me on Saturday. 5 Stars!!!

My husband pulled in with a flat tire, one car ahead of him and it took them 2 hours to do a flat repair. Other issues, they jacked the truck using the differential and then the mechanic backed the truck out of the stall and back in, with the Jack still on. Asked for the manager Jeff who said if there was damage based on their stupidity they may be able to work out a discount on repairs but he would not be held responsible.

I am currently in California. I get a call from my son who is in Federal Way, saying that his car stopped running on his way to the store. It was late so I told him to get the car safely off the road and call Pep Boys in the morning for a tow. The next day he calls for a tow. When the tow truck arrived to meet my 17 year old son, he asked him what happened. My son stated the car just stopped running. The tow driver asked him if the car had gas, my son thought, absolutely it does. The driver suggested putting gas, which my son did and the car started immediately.
The driver could have towed the car and given us a big bill, for the tow and trouble shooting, but instead he was compassionate and helped my son learn a valuable lesson. In that you still need gas even to drive a couple miles. There was still a charge for the road side service but Pep Boys could have taken advantage of my son’s inexperience and charged much more.

Biggest rips off ever. Took my Honda S2000 there. I thought I had a problem with my secondary air pump. Because I had a check engine light. Took it to O’Reilly’s use the obd2 scanner. and it told me what the code was. Took it to pep boys they said it would cost 400 dollars. I went home Check the fuse and this was the problem. A simple $ 0.40 fix. And pep boys told me 100 percent it was the air pump. I went to pepboys and told them what the problem was. They had nothing to say. I don’t trust them.

When we first moved here, I needed to change out my AC. Meineke wanted to charge me $ 600 just to look at it. The staff at THIS Pep Boys looked at it and replaced one part with a used part for FREE. Never even charged me for labor. Customer service goes a long way. All car repairs since then have been at a fair price and I’ve never had a complaint. I never went to another place ever again for car service.

Went in for an oil change and tire rotation. Paid under $ 30. Not only was everyone friendly but Jesse RAN out twice to meet elderly customers at their car.
Would definitely go back.
