Both of my dogs, Henri and Rocket, have benefited tremendously from going to «school» at Fido. Tammy was wonderful with Henri when we went several years ago for help with his guarding issues. Rocket, who has reactivity issues, went through their Basic 1 class and has really made so much progress since we got him a year ago. Their training methods really work and are cruelty free. We are so thankful for Fido! I recommend them to everyone. It’s a great place to learn with your dog.

Fido Personal Dog Training is the absolute best puppy/​training school around! Their clicker-​based positive reinforcement method is so effective and makes training fun for both pup and human. My puppy, Kona, and I just finished the Basic 1 class and he has loved showing off his new skills, tricks, and polite behavior wherever we go. Cues such as sit, down, stand, stay, wait, recall, and by me (for pull-​free walking!), were taught in class and practiced each week. Additionally, each pup parent came with a *wish list* of concerns or cues to learn during the class which was referred to often. It was great to be able to customize an experience even in a group class setting.
The trainers, Sarah and Laura, were so knowledgeable and helpful. I cannot imagine taking Kona anywhere else! Each class is small enough so that all of the dogs get personal attention and support and the materials provided in each class ensure that all practicing pups are successful in their training. Sarah and Laura provided amazing advice for new or experienced pup parents throughout the class, and I learned so much more than simply how to train my dog. Everything about the class and Fido itself is incredible, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to train a new puppy, reinforce skills, or even just to pick up the cutest toys and accessories around. Thank you to the whole Fido team for getting Kona on the right track. We are so excited to keep learning and playing!

We took our Pepper to Puppy One class and she absolutely LOVED it! The trainers are wonderful, patient, and extremely knowledgable! We had such a positive experience that we signed our puppy up for the next round of classes! I would highly recommend Fido Personal Dog Training!!!

My wife and I recently enrolled our puppy in Puppy 2 classes and were more than impressed. Our classes were about an hour long with two or three trainers per class (of five puppies).
All of the trainers we worked with were professional, knowledgeable, and fun. Our puppy responded excellently to the trainers and the training. The effectiveness and usefulness of the training out side of class concepts was refreshing.
Commands (like: recall, by me, sit, stand, down, stay, wait, spot, and calm introductions) were presented and reinforced in class. Instructions also include additional info on puppy stages of development and how to handle people less familiar to the training program.
Fido training uses clicker training and a positive reward based training technique.
I would strongly recommend Fido training to all of my friends and family. We plan to look for more opportunities to bring our pup back to Fido.

This place is awesome! Very small classes catered to individual training needs. Tammy, Sarah and Laura are all so patient and helpful! I have seen a dramatic difference in my dog and I recommend to anyone looking for dog training of any level!

We did the obedience 1 class with our dog, there was only a total of 4 dogs in the class, which was great because you get that one-​on-​one. The staff was fantastic at showing us tips on how to work with our dog, they don’t handle your dog but they will show you how to do handle your pup. The training they use is the positive reinforcement which was perfect for her because she is a timid pup but we also don’t like idea of the choke/​prong collars for our dog. She wouldn’t listen to any commands before we went in or respond to her name by the time the classes were over she was a different pup! FIDO even gave us tips on how to walk our pup since the harness we got her wasn’t working she was pulled so hard that it was rubbing her raw, they recommended the Canney collar to us and it works great for our pup! We would defiantly recommend FIDO for training your dog!

Fido Personal Dog Training is AMAZING! I contacted Tammy after I rescued a wonderful dog, Mira. She didn’t know a single command, had a SERIOUS case of Separation Anxiety, and had unpredictable behavior issues around other dogs. Now, I can hardly believe Mira is the same dog I brought home back in March. She’s happy and confident. I constantly have people ask me where we trained. Mira is now also AKC Canine Good Citizen certified, thanks to Tammy and the help of Felicia and her pup, Gauge. If you’re looking for an amazing company and an amazing group of people to work with you and your pup (s), look no further.

I cannot recommend fido personal dog training enough. We have a dog we rescued who had a number of behavior issues, the worst being aggression whenever she encountered new people. Tammy worked with us one on one and within six sessions we had almost completely cleared the problem up, and Tammy taught us how to manage the remaining anxiety my dog felt. All in all the guidance and training we received have given my dog a much better and less stressful life.

We first started taking our dogs to classes at Fido in 2010 when we got a puppy. Since then, our puppy has grown into adulthood, and we’ve taken him through every Fido class from puppy class through Beginner classes, into Intermediate class and the Advanced class. We’ve also taken our older dog to Fido classes, to brush up on skills he learned years ago. I mention all of this to say that we’ve taken many classes with Fido and have a lot of experience with them. Over the years, we’ve also taken a bunch of obedience classes elsewhere, so I have a few points of comparison.
I can’t say enough good things about Fido. IT’S A GREAT PLACE. Why do I rave about them to every dog owner that I meet?
(1) Very small classes (4 – 5 dogs with TWO instructors) means a lot of personal attention.
(2) Many opportunities to get individualized help with your dog’s particular challenges.
(3) A positive training approach that follows the most current research on animal learning and human-​dog bonds.
(4) Tammy and Sarah are VERY experienced instructors (unlike the kids teaching classes at chain pet stores, who have had at most a two-​week intro to dog training). They love dogs. They’re incredibly skilled at the most important part of having a well-​behaved dog: teaching dog owners to effectively communicate with the dog. This is crucial! Tammy and Sarah are teaching you to teach your dog so much more than a SIT or a DOWN — they teach you how to teach your dog what you need him to know, in ways that make sense to the dog. Did I mention that they’re kind, fun, funny, cool people?
(5) Tammy and Sarah are available by phone and email for questions and problem solving, even after the class is over.
(6) Fido has cool workshops and seminars on topics like dog first aid, reading dog body language, etc.
(7) Classes are a lot of fun. We look forward to them and the dogs look forward to them.
(8) They have a funky studio in funky Ferndale.
TAKE YOUR DOG TO FIDO!

We were originally debating between taking our puppy to PetSmart training classes and Fido, and we’re so glad we chose Fido. We also originally planned on only taking the puppy class, but we had so much fun that we continued through the Basic, Intermediate, and eventually the Canine Good Citizen certification class. They offer small classes (usually 4 – 5 dogs), very personalized attention, tackle individual behavior issues, and offer availability between classes to answer questions. Tammy and Sarah use positive reinforcement (clicker-​training) which is so much more fun (and very effective!) than the dominance models. Not only do we get comments all the time about how well behaved our 2 year old Lab is, but we’ve been able to teach her to retrieve the mail from the front yard, walk off-​leash, ring bells to go outside, etc… all things I never even considered before classes. We trust Sarah and Tammy so much, that we took them up on the their dog-​walking business as well (I would be very hesitant to let complete strangers into my house)…they even leave treats and presents for our pup. Can’t recommend them enough!
