Wyliepalooza Ice Cream Emporium

I first encountered the deliciousness that is Wyliepalooza at the Unilocal Paints the Town Red event… and they had me at the first sample there. I was pleased to learn that they always have a dairy-​free option available in-​store, so the Hubs and I vowed to try them for real when the weather warmed.
Well, 3 visits later I can say we have found our new go-​to for frosty treats! The Hubs LOVES the Espresso Oreo soy option (he even snuck in a double at last visit) and I cannot get enough of their awesome full on ice cream flavor options.
My favorite ice cream selections so far have been the Yippee Skippee, This Just Got Serious, Bourbon Pecan Pie, and one I cannot recall the name of but it’s Coffee ice cream loaded with chocolate covered toffee bits. If you are a dark chocolate fan, try the Zanzibar — you won’t regret it. It’s been named like the best chocolate ice cream in the world 2 years running… or something impressive like that. Get a «double» and you get to pick 2 scoops. My advice — pair one scoop of dark Zanzibar with a scoop of something lighter (like the coconut almond) for a change up and great flavor duo.
Tips:
— they rotate out the tubs and change up the flavors some times (aside from staple flavors) so if you have a random one you LOVE, check to see if it’s available first.
— sample a few! they are more than happy to give you a taste.
— portions are larger than they appear, so get the kids size if you are watching your calories — it is PLENTY of ice cream and SO cheap!
— Be nice to the high school kiddos working at this location and give them a small tip if you choose — they are so friendly and hard working.
— they do offer Nathan’s hot dogs and some other food along with bubble teas, sundaes, shakes, and other things… but we cannot speak to the taste of these offerings … yet. :)
Take it from a recovering Coldstone Creamery addict — you won’t find a comparable quality product at a reasonable price anywhere else. Now go. :)

We love the variety of ice cream and special sundaes and shakes. It’s also cool they have Halo Halo. When we first visited I thought it was weird to have shaved ice and ice cream, but fell in love with it in Hawaii. It’s definitely hard to decide what to get! Sadly they were sold out of Halo Halo today. I guess they had a big group and they were out of some of the ingredients. So I will have to get it next time.
I had the Hot mess with Coconut Almond Bliss Ice Cream and Bourbon Pecan Pie. It was super rich and full of yummy toppings. There is a brownie at the bottom, but I just couldn’t finish. It was super rich. A bowl might be easier to eat out of was my only thought. It was kind of messy to eat.
It’s a fun place full of color and plenty of seating!

Being from out of town we wanted a sweet treat that we couldn’t necessarily find at home. Wyliepalooza didn’t disappoint! Our server was so sweet and friendly. The atmosphere is bright and cheery. They offer Bubble Tea which I love and is often hard to find. We had ice cream in flavors of Zanzibar, Kitty Kitty Bang Bang and Rainbow Sherbet. All were delicious! Highly recommend!

I’d been contemplating a stop at Wyliepalooza for quite some time, though I have to be honest and say it’s not situated very well smack dab in the middle of a strip center and not particularly wheelchair friendly. There’s a rather dismal ramp at the end of the building — it works, but it’s definitely not ADA compliant and would likely be challenging for someone with a weak upper body. I’ve also found that Wyliepalooza or the businesses next to it have a tendency to block the sidewalk during the warmer months, a blocking that can result in a complete lack of wheelchair access. I’ve actually tried on two previous occasions to visit and was unable to do so.
Thus, I start off right away knocking a star off due to accessibility concerns.
I must confess that I find myself leery of the 1-​star reviews on here — most written by individuals without friends and only one making a statement specific enough to be defended. While Wyliepalooza doesn’t have the best ice cream I’ve ever had, it is vastly superior to the majority of the chains and definitely on par with other premium locations in Central Indiana.
Wyliepalooza is a Central Indiana, family owned operation that started in 2013 and has grown from its original Irvington location to include Fishers and Brownsburg and, I believe, also a truck. They have a neighborhood feeling about them, a fact that makes me a bit concerned about their Fishers location as it’s located in a strip center right on Allisonville Road. When I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, two younger employees were present and they were friendly. It seemed like the young man was the veteran, while the young female seemed to be newer and following his lead.
As this was my first visit, they explained the shop and the options a bit. They readily offered free samples, but as soon as I saw an ultimate Oreo option I knew that’s the way I wanted to go. They offer four sizes — I don’t remember them exactly, but it equates to kids, small, medium, and large (That’s not how they word it). I picked a regular, in a cup, and it was a little over $ 3.00.
For those who say their prices are too high, I want you to point me to another ice cream shop where you can get a decent amount of ice cream for $ 3 that doesn’t involve golden arches? Exactly, you can’t.
Do they have higher priced options? Yep, but you can easily take your kids and have good ice cream at a fair price in a winning, colorful, and fun environment (including a pinball machine at this location!).
The shakes are priced around $ 5.00, though you’ll pay over $ 4.00 for a smaller shake at Dairy Queen and it’ll be of a lower quality. Period.
In terms of nearby oreo options, I will say that Wyliepalooza is terrific. The «regular» size that I picked was bigger than many large sizes, while they were generous with the oreo mixture and it was consistent throughout the serving. I didn’t get to the bottom and find the oreo missing! They also offer egg free, soy free, and gluten free options and are said to have 24 flavors readily available amongst quite a few flavors they regularly carry.
They also offer bubble drinks (I will admit I don’t quite get this concept — I’ll try it sometime!) along with your usual other ice cream options. As a locally owned establishment, they also look for ways to make a difference in the community.
So, while I still have concerns about accessibility I would wholeheartedly argue against extreme-​rating that would imply any serious deficiencies here. While Wyliepalooza may not end up being the best place you’ve ever been it’s a quality ice cream at a reasonable price. The environment is light-​hearted and fun, while the employees on my visit were friendly and helpful.

For the same price go down the street to Handels and have something great… most of the flavors at Wylie’s are like ice milk… not ice cream. I’d rather stand outside in line at Handels than be indoors at Wylie’s.

Sure, everyone says they have the best ice cream, but there’s a scientific reason Wyliepalooza beats them hands down in a taste test. Don’t ever try this stuff — you’ll have to go back, again and again!

I’m ecstatic that Wylie has come to the Northside. Ever since I tried the dessert halo halo on the Westcoast, I’ve been searching for it few and far between back home in Indy. While Wylie has their own spin on it, it is nothing short of spectacular. Taro powder, red beans, jellies, palm seeds, tropical fruits underneath generous scoops of coconut ice cream topped with whipped cream if you desire. I love the little taro cookie stick they add to it. Missing one thing — I’ve always seen a chunk of flan on there. Not like it’s already decadent enough! While $ 7 might seem steep, it’s plenty to split with a friend if you don’t mind cooties. Don’t forget to drop a tip in the bowl for the hardworking ladies there.

Delicious ice cream and great value for the money. Mint chip and Zoreo were both kid and parent-​approved! This will be our new go-​to in Fishers.

We had just had dinner at the thai restaurant next door and saw that this place was open. I was really sad when the pie place that used to occupy this store closed down. This isn’t really a substitute but at least it satisfies the sweet tooth. The staff was really nice and friendly. They let me sample a few flavors and were knowledgeable about the ingredients. We decided to get our ice-​creams to-​go.
I got the mango carrot sorbet. It was really good. Creamy and made with no added sugars! It satisfied my pregnant belly I didn’t feel too guilty eating it as well. It counts as a serving of fruit and vegetables right?

We went here. Then we went here again the next day. Then a week later. Then the next day. Then 3 more times. They haven’t been open long enough for this to qualify as anything less than an obsession.
Every flavor we’ve tried has been super delicious. Our favorites (so far) are Zanzimint («Zanzibar» dark chocolate + mint), caramel apple pie, regular chocolate (such cocoa), and salted caramel. We haven’t made it around to the boba tea yet, but I’m looking forward to getting my tapioca on sometime soon.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and they maintain a quirky and fun atmosphere similar to The Flying Cupcake.
I would recommend that you clear your schedule for at least a couple weeks after coming here because, like Schwarzenegger, you will be back.

We were not impressed with their small servings and overpriced sundaes. In my opinion, an almost $ 5.00 sundae should include 2 scoops of ice cream overflowing with toppings. The small, thin cup had barely one scoop of ice cream. The hot fudge was not hot. It was like a cold paste stuck to the cup like concrete. There was just a whisper of whipped cream. This bad experience might be due to new opening jitters, but quality is lacking.

This place is AWESOME for REAL ice cream! They also have «ice» flavors that are vegan and for lactose intolerance. And they give you samples of them all. Very kid friendly too. A++++. We will definitely be back.

Omg I’m so full !!! Literally got a raspberry with Oreos in a cone which was just so good. .. Browsed a lot of neat nick nacks that I would’ve picked up if I was made of money, nonetheless I bought a pin, magnet, some expensive tiny suckers.. . A giant tootsie pop is on sale but don’t let the size fool you because it’s full off a bunch of small ones! They have pac man game.. . That’s a great feature and also they donate to charity! 20 percent profit goes And you know what else boba tea
