I took my son to Dr. Cardenas because he was higher recommended to me. My son was in pain with his wisdom teeth and Dr. Cardenas pen point the problem and suggested that I take my son back to his dentist. I said thanks and then he asked me who had referred me to him? As soon as I told him I started saying little comments like «No, take him back to his dentist cause I don’t want to remove his tooth then he’s still in pain, then my so called friends will drag my reputation to the floor??» I was like what? Dr. Cardenas and he said «I don’t need my reputation drag to the floor». I told him I don’t understand what you mean and I felt that he was so unprofessional. Walked out $ 70 short and not understanding what the hell had just happen. Don’t get me wrong he might be a great dentist but I think he should learn to keep his comments to himself about certain people that he knows. It wasn’t for me to know how he felt about the person that referred me to him. Really weird and unprofessional.

I Guess it would only be appropriate for me to write a great review since this is the FIRST TIME that I’ve EVER had a good experience at a dentist. I’ve always had problems, I’ve dealt with enormous amounts of pain in the past from doctors not being careful while giving me anesthesia or beginning procedures too late after I got it and it had worn off leaving me to feel everything. Not this guy, didn’t feel even a pinch when he put it in. I came in so nervous from past experiences that I even got a stomach ache. But he was super kind and distracted me with questions and funny conversations. He even made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Constantly stopping and asking me if I was dong fine. (I had told him how terrified I was of dentists.)
I’ve got 7 fillings to go and I’m honestly not even stressing it anymore. If every visit is like this one, its safe to say I’ve got a dentist for life.

This review has been long overdue. I’ve been going to Dr. Cardenas for about 6 years now. The facility reminds me of a spa and he has up to date technology. His team (Rosie, Gladys and Wife) are awesome and Dr. Cardenas himself is a great dentist. He is efficient and really knows his stuff. I’ve gotten both of my wisdom teeth out with him w/​no anesthesia and it healed well.

So far I have referred couple of friends, and all of them are current patients and are quite satisfied with their work.
It doesn’t hurt that the ambiance is quite clean and relaxing :)

Dr Cardenas was my dentist for about two years. In this time he did a great job of maintaining my teeth and advising me about restorative surgery for a dental implant to replace a tooth he could not fix. So far, so good. I went in for the tooth extraction and bone graft, which is the beginning of a $ 6,000 implant procedure. I was not too concerned about the cost, as I have pretty good dental insurance. When I went in for the tooth extraction, the girls at the desk told me I would have to pay for the extraction and bone graft upfront. I explained to them that I had insurance but they claimed that insurances do not cover this procedure. Needing the treatment, I reluctantly paid the total cost of the day’s procedures. I figured if they were covered (I was sure they were) that I would get quickly reimbursed by Dr. Cardenas. This turned out to be a mistake that inflicted more discomfort than the fractured tooth. Long story short, the girls at Dr. Cardenas did not know how to process the claim and I had to take care of this process myself.
As it turned out, I was covered but the girls at the dental office sent the wrong information argued with me when I suggested that they call the insurance and sort out this mess. Dr. Cardenas took the position that the insurance company always gave them a hard time and was part of the game that they play to avoid payment. I was appalled. It took me 4 months of going back and forth with Cigna Dental and Dr Cardenas before I got Dr Cardenas to refund my $ 1,000 that I paid at the time of the extraction and bone graft. The irony is that he did a great job with the bone graft and my new dentist was able to mount the implant perfectly. It’s unfortunate that Dr. Cardenas does not have a staff that is competent in insurance billing. Otherwise I would have rated him 5 stars. So, word of advice, if you have a big procedure to get done, make sure you have the girls process a preauthorization of the services to provide. This will ensure the girls send the correct paperwork to the insurance and you can avoid having to pay hundreds of dollars upfront and then spend the next four month fighting to get it back. By the way, my new dentist has a good staff that took care of the billing for my implant — what a difference that made!
