Specialties
The Acme is known for its smoked meats, pizza and «Big One» breaded tenderloin. We have an Olé Hickory Pits smoker and smoke all of our brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken wings. The pizza is the same recipe as the old ‘Big Daddy’s” pizza.
History
Established in 2010.
The original Acme Bar was started in 1941 in the current location by the Stavreti and Cozmas families and stayed under the control of Nick Cozmas and his son-in-law Mike Tapp until February of 2009. The current owner, a friend of the Tapp family, was in negotiations to purchase the business when it was forced into bankruptcy. The current owner purchased the business from the bank and reopened the bar in February of 2010. During the renovation of the building many of the original features were recovered and restored. The original tin ceilings in the bar and package area were restored and the original mahogany bar top was found in the basement, refinished and put back in its rightful place as a focal point in the bar. The large and famous 1946 baseball painting in the family room was cleaned and now has a partner painting in the bar room. The bar room painting was commissioned from a local artist and is of the new Parkview Field stadium in downtown Fort Wayne.
