I love this place. Been coming for the last two years. I can come hide out and no one will find me. It’s never packed and the staff is friendly. Drinks are super cheap. This will always be a favorite of mine

Its a shame that a wonderful bar atmosphere be suffocated with such terrible ventilation. One could contract second hand smoke from standing outside and down a block. It clearly has had work done to restore the exterior of the building, yet has failed to take care of basic breathing – its as if you’re trying to speak or breathe under a bell jar. I had to wash my jacket twice the next morning. I’ve been in many bars and restaurants around the world and have never experienced something quite like this. Unbelievable.

On their website, it states they are a smoke free bar. When I got there there was an ashtray on every table. I called the bar and whoever answered the phone said, «Everyone here smokes.». He also said they have a non-smoking«section», which no one ever uses. I could smell the smoke coming out of the bar from the street! Granted, I am a beer judge, so my sense are sharper than the average person, but how can you taste the beer with that much smoke??? Cool name for a bar.

Maybe it’s just my luck, but phuck me man. I’ve had bad service, rude bartenders twice! If you knew me you would know I am the simplest, kindest man, and don’t even bother with attitude. I bought a beer and walked out, no need for that. I’ll go over to a real bar on magnolia.

Low-key, cool and quiet. Good drink prices and variety, with easy-going bartenders. A little smoky, but nowhere near the worst we’ve been to. Nice cozy space, but more parking would be handy. Even right on a main thoroughfare, the neighborhood can get kind of dark. It’s a neighborhood-type bar, but we’ve never felt like outsiders when we’ve been. Also, patrons are easy on the juke box. No Tom Jones marathons — or Lords of Acid marathons for that matter. Very eclectic tastes with room for everyone.

Fin MacCools is a good neighborhood bar. They have a casual atmosphere with a full bar which is always a plus. If you like playing pool or darts they’ve got that too. I’m not sure if it’s the location(set between hospital district, funky cool Fairmount, and TCU) or the bar, but it has kind of a strange mix of people without a clear vibe. However, if you’re looking for a clean bar with a little entertainment, it’s an ok place to land. There aren’t any other bars in the same 5 mile radius with the pool, darts, and tvs playing sports. It’s more of a guys pub and that’s absolutely alright if that’s the vibe you’re looking for. It is a smoking bar for those who care.

A great, low-key neighborhood spot. Nothing fancy, but the staff are attentive and friendly, and the beer is good. Pool tables and dart boards available if you want to play. There is a larger smoking section in the front and a smoke-free room in the back — the front does get pretty smoky when it’s busy and the ventilation isn’t the best, so if you truly hate smoke it may not be the best for you. Also no food so don’t come here if you have the munchies. But if you want a good beer with good friends, come here for sure.

I’m a fan of this bar. It’s spacious, usually not overcrowded, and clean. I always get good service with the bartenders and the location is pretty great. Near Magnolia, but down 8th, so there’s less congestion, which is great on weekends. The bar is divided into two halves, smoking and non-smoking, both with a bar and pool tables. I appreciate the fact that they cater to both. If you park in the back parking lot, you can always enter through the back exit!(Sharing that info because, like a dummy, I didn’t know it was there for the longest time.)

Have loved this place for many years! Very few true neighborhood pubs left in the area. Beer selection is good and at decent prices, especially on imports. Pools tables and dart boards are a great way to spend time with friends and release the stress from your day. Two thumbs up for sure!

A bar to hang and drink with friends, darts and pool if you play. Great bartenders and the tab is always reasonable. If your looking for a bar with bells and whistles, this aint your place — Its a place to drink!

The place is right next to a few restaurants and I had gone in to get only one beer as I was waiting on friends to go eat. They have a ten dollar minimum on cards which I obviously didn’t know but the bartender was super nice as he charged me ten bucks on the card and gave me my change back as cash. They have a good selection of bottled beers not many on tap.

Great neighborhood Irish pub. They have a digital sign always counting down to St Pattys day hanging from the ceiling. The atmosphere is friendly, cordial, and inviting. Lots of locals to chat with. The bartenders are very cool. It is a smoking facility with a non smoking area. My wife and I went there Sunday to play some pool. Had a good time. 2 vodka cherry sours and 2 draft beers, $ 9.50 — not too shabby! When in the area, I like going here. Give’em a shot, I think they’ll earn your business too!

Great local bar with a smoke-free back room. Beer is affordable and it is quiet enough to catch up with old friends. It’s one of my favorite spots for Stitch And Bitch nights(girlfriends, yarn and beer — a great way to unwind).

As I approached the entrance of Finn Mac Cool’s(trying not to trip in my Valentine’s Day heels that I really can’t walk in), I could taste the smoke seeping through the building from around the corner! I turned around and put my coat in my car because I knew it’d reek for weeks if I let it in there. I’m a little sensitive/allergy-ish, but I think we could all agree on the potency of the cigarette fumes at Finn’s. But still, 4 stars it is! I may have feared for my lungs, but all in all I had a blast at this little pub. They had woodchuck cider on tap — which is awesome — along with a slew of other great beers ranging from cheap to pretty crafty. The front room with the bar has tables for sitting, mingling, and eating, and the back room is a sort of pool hall/sort of lounge for roaming and sporting. We played cricket, and I’ll have you know I’ve got some surprising dart throwing prowess going on. There are a couple tables, a bar along the wall(with video games attached?!), and plenty of stools in this back room. You can put your feet up while others play their games! Know what else is back there? A quarter wall with a door that leads to nowhere new. It’s literally just a random wall with a door in it. It’s quite strange and makes this otherwise conventional bar a bit whimsical!

Great low key bar. Cheap drinks, but the only drawback is the smoke. Very smoky, makes it hard to breathe.

Went in to Finn MacCool’s Pub not too long ago &LOVED it — EXCEPT for the smoke. What’s a gal gotta do to get a cool hangout that doesn’t leave her choking and coughing for a week?!? At any rate, if you can handle the smoking — they have a great selection of beer, nice folks and a great«neighborhood» bar feel.

If you live in Fairmount or Ryan Place, then you should already know about this awesome locally-owned bar. And if you don’t live there, then swing on by to check it out. The drinks are good and inexpensive, the staff are always cheerful or good for a little conversation, and the place just feels ‘comfortable’. It’s not pretentious, nor trendy. It’s just a good, basic, hometown bar. One that I often think, «I should go there at least once a week,» yet, I don’t cuz I’m cheap(and they’re CHEAP!). I just figure I’ll make a drink at home ;) They expanded their space over a year ago, so they have some pool tables and dart boards. A modern jukebox stands between the two spaces. There’s a room in the back for NON-smokers, so the main areas are in fact smoky. Yet, it’s not too horrible.

I think this place is just great, it’s my kinda bar, not too big, but not tiny either, there’s a really cool seating area in the back so you’re not forced to just sit at a normal table or bar top and a must have for every bar… a pool table. I can’t stand that so many bars are without pool tables anymore. I loved the place, but then again, I was drunk, so who knows, it might suck: p I’ll definitely go back when I’m in town again, it’s a pretty popular hangout spot for a couple of my good buddies and trust me, they’re pro-drunkards, so they know where to go have a beer.
