David Cohen, DDS

Great dentist. Honest, thoughtful, funny, and truly cares about your well being. I had a chipped tooth that he repaired like he would for himself. He suggested that we don’t do a crown yet to see if we can just bond it. So that’s what we did. A year later my tooth is great! I’m very thankful that David is my dentist. I highly recommend!

Dr. Cohen is a great dentist and the office is full of professional staff that are helpful and polite. My whole family, and my wife’s family go to him and are very happy with the service.

Smile that makes you feel comfortable when it comes getting work done on your teeth. Did I forget to mention, he will crack a joke with You to break the ice. I love it! Thanks to him, I haven’t had Cavities in years! The team staff there are also so very nice and sweet, they answer your questions right away. I never have to wait Longer than 15 minutes. If you are looking for someone to go too for the first time, Dr. Cohen is the dentist to go. You will love him and his crew. I know there isn’t a better team that can make my teeth clean and bright like them! :)

I gave five stars because I can’t think of anything they can change to do a better job. I have been in the dental chair a lot lately and each time I have been in there I notice a few more details about the place– Bottom line is Dr. Cohen is very professional as is Dr. Drew (who has a different last name but very difficult to spell) they both take that extra step and time to make sure everything is done right. I have had several dentists in my life and Dr. Cohen and Dr. Drew are by far the best. I wish I could remember the name of the dental assistant who took care of me because she was awesome too.

Dr. Cohen and his staff are very nice which is why I gave them two stars. The problem is the way they conduct their business ripping off people which is unacceptable. I went to them for x rays and a cleaning. I was informed that I had deep pockets and required a deep cleaning plus I needed two crowns etc. They refused to even clean my teeth unless I got a deep cleaning. I decided to go to another Dentist for a second opinion. I paid the $ 25 for them to email it to the new Dentist. After he reviewed the x rays I was informed that I didn’t need a deep cleaning or crowns. I was informed that I had some pockets but my gums do not bleed and they are not deep enough to warrant a deep cleaning. Because the dentist doesn’t take Delta insurance I paid $ 85 out of my pocket and saved myself thousands of dollars. I would suggest anyone that goes there to please get a second opinion. You need deep pockets to pay for the deep pocket cleaning.

Dr. Cohen has been taking care of my teeth for many years and believe he does a great job.
His staff is friendly and always accommodating. Kim who does my cleanings is great.

My teenagers, college aged children, and I have been going to Dr. Cohen’s office for 6 years. Love him and his staff! They are wonderful! Let me count the ways:
1. One of my children is on the autism spectrum and they are particularly patient with that child.
2. He recommends what he thinks is best for each family member, not a «one size fits all «approach to cleanings, etc.
3. His referrals to specialists have also been excellent.
4. When one of my children had an allergic reaction to drugs that he prescribed, we called him late on a Friday night and received an immediate response.
5. His staff even called my employer to ask informed questions about my policy options to help me make the best decision for our current need during open enrollment time.
6. When we have had dental emergencies, we call and are worked into the schedule right away.
The down side to recommending them is that it will be more difficult for to get an appointment. :) Other than that, I highly recommend this dentist.

This is NOT a good place. He refused to serve me because I refused to have a deep cleaning! The insurance company said that he cannot do that. He still needs to clean my teeth if I request it!

Dr. Cohen is a very kind man with a wacky sense of humor and a great bedside manner. I cannot complain about his dentistry, only about the way in which he runs his business. The good Dr. recommended that I get cleanings every 3 months (meaning out of pocket expense for me, but I was open to it as I don’t put a price on my health) Well… it can take as long as 4 months just to get a cleaning appointment, and Dr. Cohen states that these appointments are «like gold» and that you «do not cancel them», citing that he only hires the very best hygienists and that you will not get a better teeth cleaning anywhere. Huh. I find that hard to believe. There are a plethora of dentists in Orange County, most of whom will value my business and accomodate my needs; after all I am the patient, the client, and the generator of said dentist’s salary. Most of us have very busy schedules which are subject to change (and quite frankly I refuse to put teeth cleanings at the top of my priority list in the grand scheme of life), so it is important to be connected with health care providers who can roll with those changes. Incidentally, I happen to run my own business, and I cannot count the number of times I have accommodated last-​minute schedule changes or squeezed people in when they really needed it. I do this because I care very much about my client relationships. If teeth cleanings are booked solid for the next 4 months, then perhaps Dr. Cohen should not be accepting any more new patients.

The receptionist lady at the front is always super nice, and even remembers who I am when I call to make or change an appointment. Both dental assistants always answer my questions and curiosities with precise and thorough answers and make me feel at ease and laugh when talking to them. The dental hygeniest is also really sweet, and I especially liked that she told me exactly what she was doing to my teeth and why, as well as letting me know what I need to do to care of them better and exactly how to do it. She was great at giving me a general understanding of what is going on in my mouth and how everything works. Last, but not least, of course is Dr. Cohen — his childish sense of humor is sometimes so silly that even if he’s not funny, you’re still laughing at the ridiculousness of it. He’s a skilled dentist and always reminds me what I can better do to get my teeth in good shape, and what to steer clear from (if i cant completely abstain from sugary candies and energy drinks, he said to eat or drink them quickly and then brush). Another thing about Dr. Cohen is he always listens to you when reacting to pain from whatever he’s doing — he always stops and will administer as much local anesthetic as needed to null the pain. The dental office itself is very comfortable with elegant décor and cozy seating in the waiting room (which I’ve never gotten to spend too much time in by the way, they’re very quick to call you back — even if I’m a bit late!). The dentist and his staff are what brings me back, everyone knows its hard to find a likeable and trustworthy dentist — glad to have found Cohen.

I love Dr. Cohen, he’s amazing! His staff is great, and there’s very little wait time, if any to see him when you come in for an appointment. Everyone I’ve recommended loves him as well. I also like that he keeps up on current innovations in his field. For example, I had a cavity and he was able to drill it with a laser thing which didn’t hurt at all, and I didn’t even have any kind of pain killer (I was given a choice however). After he filled it, it didn’t even hurt and I was able to eat. So, I very highly recommend him.

Been going 10 years to Dr. Cohen’s, even before he came to FV to open his own practice. He has the gentlest touch of any dentist I’ve ever had. His skills are superb. I’ve had several teeth extractions from him and I could honestly say they were a piece of cake (granted, I was drugged up like nobody’s business at the time.) He didn’t take forever to get the tooth out, just one big great pull and it was out.
His dental hygenist, Ginny, is also amazing. If you don’t brush your teeth then the cleaning will make your gums swell, but she manages to get me through it with a minimum of bleeding and pain. She also doesn’t leave my face all dirty with spittle and is kind enough to give me small breaks if I feel thirsty and dry from the process.
I’ve been lucky to have had no problems with my insurance and their service overall. I’ve also been lucky not to have needed a major procedure like a root canal or any serious operation on my mouth, but I’d definitely recommend Dr. Cohen’s clinic to anyone I know who’s looking for a PPO dentist. For as long as I live in Orange County, I’ll be coming here!
