Mike Thompson’s RV Super Store

My husband has always had good experience with MT RV… Fortunately we only need service once every few years, but haven’t had any issues unlike other posts have mentioned.

Well where to start, I took my 5^th wheel Montana in for some warranty work (toilet) didn’t hold water and I had a 3000 watt inverter added and installed. After the 3^rd time trying to fix the toilet Keystone authorized putting in a new toilet well the toilet took 3 weeks because it had to come from the manufacture to Keystone back east then get shipped to Mike Thompson stupid!!! I worked for a large manufacturing Company and when the customer needed parts at a service center we dropped shipped the parts from the supplier right to the customer or service center but I guess we treated our customer better.
Okay I need to say that Rob the service writer is great to work with but I am sure his hands are tied.
Brian is the tech that worked on my trailer to install the 3000 watt invert this time and the charging center inside the trailer and the Dish antenna last time is the best he did a neat and awesome job.
Okay here is the kicker I go down to pickup my trailer AFTER A MONTH AND A HALF it was scheduled for me to pick it up but when I get there I noticed that my awning was smashed and damaged from hitting something as they were moving it around. NOW THEY EXPECT ME TO WAIT 3 WEEKS TO GET THEIR MISHAP FIXED AND I HAVE A TRIP PLANNED AND I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR AND ITS NON-​REFUNDABLE BECAUSE IT’S OVER THE HOLIDAYS SO I AM GOING TO BE OUT OF OVER $ 1000.00.

We had a great experience at Mike Thompson! Purchased a brand new trailer a few months back. Had the hitch work installed with the trailer. The tech (Pete), answered all questions and explained everything in detail. Our first camping trip with the new trailer was amazing! I look forward to many more camping trips. Thanks Mike Thompson!

Just left Mike Thompson with our new trailer. My boyfriend and I would love to thank Keith and Kellen for the amazing experience. As 20 somethings who like to go out to the desert and other adventures of such sorts, my boyfriend and i were looking in to getting a trailer. We went in just to look at what they had, we had been looking at different trailers online and hadn’t seen anything that really caught our eye. From the moment we got on the lot Keith greeted us with a smile and a willingness to help. He answered all our questions and gave his honest opinion. He sold us on a great deal that we couldnt resist on a Pacific Coachworks Sand Sport 21FS that we are in love with! Kellen help with all the paperwork and financing. He was even able to get us a better rate and warranty, without us even asking. An all around great guy and made the whole process smooth and easy. If we ever need to get a new trailer in the future we will definitely be coming back and hopefully these guys are still around to help. Now all we have to do is plan a trip.

A big shout out to salesman Kory, at the trailer sales side. Most salespersons are your best friend while they’re making commission off you, but as soon as you leave the lot they’re done with you. Kory was very helpful, even after our purchase. He came to where we have the trailer stored to help us with some questions/​problems twice! One time was almost 2 months after our purchase! He is not your typical salesman. Such a nice guy! Hope his boss reads this!

This review is for the service department. Purchase went fine with lots of negotiations. The service department is terrible. First time I went was for warranty work which wasn’t an easy process and all they do is try and sell you every accessory under the sun from satellite TV to solar power. I’m pretty sure they’re just commissioned salesmen. Now I’m trying to schedule routine service and they have a new procedure to where you have to text some guy on a number the operator gives you in hopes of scheduling an appointment. So 2 days and several texts later there’s no response. My next attempt will be to text them I want to buy a satellite system and maybe they’ll call me back. Ridiculous.
UPDATED: Got a response from David a service manager. He did an excellent job of explaining their current growing pains. Seems they are making strides forward. I’m expecting service to be improving soon. I’m satisfied for now.

We purchased a pre owned travel trailer at the end of April. we were very happy w/​Les and his no pressure sales and knowledge of the inventory that was available to us. Kellen, Ryan and even «Santa», who gave us the walk-​thru were amazing and great to work with. There was a few stalls before we actually got to bring it home, but all in all, we were happy with our purchase. We didn’t have to finance the trailer, so that part was uneventful. We would highly recommend anyone looking to buy an RV to start at Mike Thompson’s RV lot.

Service Department is not open on weekends, there is no technical or mechanics available when the most people are RV’ing. And then on Monday you find someone in service, you can’t get an appointment for 3 weeks! They need to hire more service people and have them on duty 7 days a week. This may be a place where you get an RV but don’t expect help when you really need it!

After visits to several other places in SoCal, my husband and I finally found a camper trailer that suited us at this stage of our lives with our two fast-​growing toddlers. We purchased it back in February. Yes, this is overdue, but I wanted to really love it! And we all do!
If we had to do it over again, I think we’d most likely still go to Mike Thompson’s RV Super store in Fountain Valley because 1) we found a trailer we love and got a great deal on it and 2) this particular location is close to us and easy to get to.
Ray was our salesman. If only all salespeople were as cool as him!
Kellen was our main finance guy. We ended up signing papers with Ryan — I’m not sure why — but in general they accommodated our needs and desires.
I have since forgotten the man’s name that did our 1-​hour walk-​through of the trailer when we went to pick it up. He was pretty cool. The walk-​through was a bit overkill, but I understand why they do it. My husband and I were taken aback a little when he told us that «they let the battery die overnight.» I feel like a fully charged battery should be on the trailer in order to do a real «walk-​through.» I don’t know… What do you think?
While I was extremely nervous about it, I’m glad to have gotten the trailer brakes put on my vehicle here too.
There were a few things that led to a less than stellar review…
— the wait time (waiting in the cubicles, waiting for phone calls back, waiting to pick up the
trailer, waiting for finance paper info, etc.)
— the lobby area was «meh»
— communication was not their strong suit… particularly from the finance department
— the dead battery
My advice is to do as much research as you possibly can before visiting. Keep calm & camp on!

I purchased a 2016 Winnebago Travato and the entire experience has been exceptionally unpleasant. I was rushed through the paperwork process and none of the documents were thoroughly or adequately explained. The prices I was given verbally did not match the documentation I was asked to sign. After taking the vehicle home, I had several issues. As I was driving out of the parking lot, the tire pressure light came on. I also realized that one of the windows didn’t close properly, a knob was missing from the license plate, and that one of the seat’s velcro was insufficient. Plus, they were unable to provide me with the second key and remote. After over a month of unhelpful and futile e-​mailing, I was finally told to bring it in for a service appointment.
I was left to wait for close to four hours without seeing a single person from the service department before a receptionist came out and simply took photos of the problems and informed me that parts would have to be ordered and that I would need to come back in. I was also told that they could not locate the second key. I asked why they had simply not taken care of this a month ago when I initially brought up the problem and why I had been forced to wait around for no reason.
To summarize, the employees at this dealership are unhelpful, rude, demanding, and downright unprofessional. They are terrible at communicating with customers and are deceiving in their deals. Every department from sales to finance to service has been uncooperative and disrespectful.
I strongly recommend you avoid this business at all costs.

Bought a 2017 from Greg Had a great time, wonderful salesman. Kevin showed us around the Forest River ForesterChris Finance Mgr. was the best!!! And finally the big guy John, very nice man who approved the price for our trade and got us a 2017 model!! Second Rv from Mike Thompson great folks all around!!!

We had a wonderful experience purchasing our Outback travel trailer from Mike Thompson RV in Fountain Valley. Top of the list is the excellent customer service we received from Les and Scooter in Sales. Ryan in financing was exceptionally accommodating to us. All were very knowledgeable and helpful to us in making our buying experience one to remember and it was very pleasant. I’m in Sales for my occupation and I can grade a salesman easily. Les and Scooter were professional, friendly and patient as we looked at a lot of trailers. There was Zero pressure to buy (and that’s the way I like it). They were NOT desperate salesmen that turn me off quick. They answered questions and allowed us the time we needed to decide which coach was best for us. We bought the same day.
If you go to the Fountain Valley Trailer Store, ask for either and I know you will have a great experience too. Thank you Les, Scooter and Ryan!

Buyers BEWARE… if there’s a zero grade this one deserve it.
Anyway we went and visit this place 1^st time, 20 min before closing time we talked to Robert seems nice but b/​c its closing we didn’t stay that long plus family wast present at that time, Im with my friends. 2^nd plan visit I called Robert and he told me that he’s not in at their store and he told me ask for Corey and he already spoke to him that were coming. Even though there is a rain in the forecast we still went b/​c that’s the only time family can see the TT (travel trailer). When we got there for some reason Corey wasn’t avaiable. They sent me Tony Jacobs showed the TT but during that time he just keep going and leaving us pretty much on our own for the most part to see the TT, seems not serious seller/​consultant.
So when we were discussing about the pricing he cant give us their best lowest quote OTD like the usual buyer and dealer dealing with each other. He’s asking us to commit first, I told him how buyers can commit without knowing the price that their going to commit to pay and he made a comment that were not serious buyer…

Our visit here was a lovers tryst. Not exactly secretive, but more an adventure, romantic, with some measure of spontaneity, and not likely to occur again ever.
First this adventure began months ago in October with an RV show in Pomona. Wow! What a way to see all things new in RV’s, campers, and travel trailers. They have some incredible deals there and you can see the newest, latest, and greatest the industry has to offer. I’ll say not only is it the newest, in some cases I’d even say they are still doing their R&D or proof of concept; this was the case with our new love.
We finally picked her up on this trip and she was all we wanted.
Getting to the nitty gritty, they just missed the five star mark and I’d say maybe it’s due in part to buying a custom built trailer which I eluded to; also being so far apart communication was the largest weakness. Having never owned a fifth wheel and not already equipped as such, but also having chosen the hitch we had selected required an additional part. Multiple phone calls yielded little information we required to order the correct item so ultimately we played the odds. Unfortunately, even with the odds on our side it was still the wrong item. Proving their value as a dealer and parts supplier, they had the part in stock, and were able to accommodate us. This cost us a significantly longer period of time than we’d expected; causing us to alter some of our plans. In the end it was minor and only a bump.
In the end I’ll stand by the four stars but I’ll call it a wobbler because they were oh so close to five; better communication is a must!

BUYER BEWARE! If I could give this place zero stars I would! We bought our trailer cash 60,000 to later realize they sold us a trailer with a huge gash on the roof and water pump problems. They ‘fixed’ the roof by tearing the old one off and putting on a new one that looked like a three year old did it, huge lumps and bumps and it didn’t even fit right and the repair to my water pump was DUCT TAPED. This place is a joke, their customer service is a joke. All they care about is taking your money but if you have any problems after good luck. The service guy didn’t even tell the GM what was going on he said ‘no need to involve everybody’ my husband did speak to the GM and he was supposed to call us back and guess what that never happened! So don’t buy from this place unless you want to be sold a damaged item that they will fix with duct tape or won’t fix at all.

Not the best but far from the worst! The best part was that they were not like the crooks up the street who tried to mug me in finance!
All in all I appreciate the honesty and integrity of this dealership! Again something that is lacking from their new competition!

We bought our rv at this dealership and they played games after we had a signed contract! The next day they wanted more money down payment! The story gets better but its long and suffice to say i will never buy from here again!
Now to their service. I called t ask a question. I left a vm for a service tech. I waited two days and never got a call back. So i called again and left another message. It has been a week and still no call. This dealership has all around poor customer relations and i will never do business here again EVER

In March 2015 we visited Mike Thompson’s Super Store to get ideas on class A motor homes. We have owned Class C models but wanted to get ideas on class A’s. We are from PA and were in CA visiting our daughter. I had done some research and had a model in mind (Winnebago Sightseer) but was not going to buy at this time. However after test driving and dealing with the staff (Larry Marq Chris & John) we purchased a Winnebago Sightseer.
The experience was more than we expected. It was awesome. We traded in our Class C Minnie Winnie sight unseen and they even went to PA to drive it back to CA. Amazing! They even stored our Sightseer for 2 months before we left for home. Free of charge.
One other comment. The purchase of the Motor Home was without a warranty. However before we left for PA we noticed that their was an issue with the automatic leveling system. Unfortunately it was not repaired before we left. I brought it to John Blacks attention and he told me to let him know what I had to do to have it repaired. After returning home we had the system fixed. It cost over $ 2000. Jon kept his word and we received a check for the total amount. We even received fuel cards for the trip home!!!
Our experience was amazing. Above our expectations. We would recommend Mike Thompson’s RV superstore for your next purchase.

I would like to say that Chad, Scooter and Cory at the «Trailer» lot of Mike Thompson RV in Fountain Valley were AWESOME! I looked around at a lot of different RV dealers for a 40′ 5^th wheel. Lots to choose from, right? I won’t mention who did not do a good job at «Teaching» me or «Educating» me on all the different manufactures and options, but what I will do is thank the guys at this dealership. I am not a big Unilocal guy. I only Unilocal when I get bad service more than once or when I feel that I was treated with respect and taken in as a family member.
The story could be long but all I can say is that I got the best deal very fast and when something was not right, they fixed it and felt bad about it. As you know or will find out, RV purchasing is very long and tiresome. Options and financing, Insurance and walk through’s. By the way, if you make the right choice and buy one from them, ask for Freddy to do the walk through. He was so patient and thorough, He made me feel like I did not miss a thing!
I just want to say thank you to all the people that helped me out on a $ 80,000 toy purchase. I feel that they deserve a good review as we all know how important Unilocal is to business.

The salesman and me self been working hard to make a deal for the last couple of months at least.
Yes it’s is a very hard financial decision to pursue to purchase a $ 60.000 dollars RV there is a lot to consider, but thank you to the financial person BOB and I don’t care to know his last name, this morning I went there to close the deal after I left a $ 1000.00 deposit last week and change my mind witch I hope it’s normal since is it’s my money and my responsibility to pay it off .
He basically because send me the customer and the salesman out of his office with bad for words saying that if I want the RV fine if not fine but not to make him work extra because he felt frustrated with his day !!!

You need to get control of your people and your sales will double I assure of that !!!
