Specialties

We specialize in the restoration and conservation of antique furniture, including vintage and Danish Modern, objects of art, new and old, natural history objects, gilded frames, bronze statuary, porcelain, silver, on site cleaning and waxing of architectural woodwork including library paneling, kitchen cabinetry. The design studio makes custom furniture, creates custom finishes including colored lacquer, paint, and gold leaf.

History

Established in 1996.

After working for the National Park Service, as a member of the preservation team of craftspeople working on National Monuments in the Northeast, Paul Riedl started his restoration studio focusing on antique furniture in the Boston area. Over the last 15 years, the studio has grown into a full service restoration and conservation operation which now takes on a variety of projects besides wood and furniture. the staff is experienced in the treatments of objects of art, gilding, metal objects, bronze statuary, natural history objects, modern furnishings, silver, and porcelain. The Restoration Studio is now under the umbrella of Gallery XIV which was started in 2005. Gallery XIV sells European antiques and is represented at Hiden Gallery, Stamford, CT. In addition to selling furnishings, Gallery XIV represents and sells works by emerging artists from around the world. William Kerr has been the gallery director since 2005.
