I live in Chicago, but do you want to know how often I go to Frankfort? Seldom. And, when I think about Frankfort, I naturally think about consuming Frankfurters, not a giant dripping cold red piece of steak. Secondly, the acoustics here were terrible. I work too hard to have a job that I don’t have, to not have to spend my money somewhere that costs such a high price for a delicious entrée! And lastly, I was thrown off by the restaurant’s theme; I felt trapped inside of it with all of the cacophony that made it’s way over to my table. On that note, even the table we were eating at seemed fake, and our server did nothing to make the table seem ‘less’ fake, if you know what I mean? Also, I disagree with a steakhouse being named after a PERSON, because according to Vegan Mag, steakhouses are meant for animals.

We ate here past night celebrating a great night with family and we had a great time. The steaks that we all had were excellent and the service was great. We will be back for sure.

Jenny’s has a new location in Mokena. We attended the New Opening and had a wonderful time. We called for reservations and we were prom ply seated and were greeted by a singing Elvis. The red shirt and the Elvis hair set the tone for the evening. The entertainment was a lot of fun and it did not stop for the entire time we were there. Our waitress was pleasant and hard working considering the crowd that was there. My husband enjoyed the steak and it was sufficient for his meat eater appetite. I had a chicken breast stuffed with spinach. Tasty enough but it could have been warmer. The manager came over and greeted us and allowed us to use an additional coupon for our crowd of people. I give the management credit for creating events to bring in the people. Check back to Jenny’s they have many events going on and will always run a special.

Good: the waitress was nice Bad: we waited over an hour for our steak and baked potato. We made reservations, and they didn’t even have our name on the list. WTF! They had a table available. It was a Friday night and they had plenty of empty tables. Ugly: when we finally got our food it was cold and the baked potato was so cold that the cold butter would not melt! You would think that waiting for over an hour that your food would be piping hot! It wasn’t that crowded! DONOTGOTOTHISPLACE!

My husband and I really like Jenny’s. I always order the blue cheese burger and he gets some sort of steak. The burger is great, really juicy and flavorful. The homemade chips are fantastic companion. He likes the steak. The mashed potatoes are not in the same league as Wildfire, but for a close and convenient steakhouse, Jenny’s is great! I like to support the restaurants in town and this is one you should try too.

I like Jenny’s bar area and the physical space. The people who work here are very earnest and attentive. I like the appetizers that come on the table. I just wish I liked the food more! I have had various things; maybe I should just try their specialties — the steaks. My Dad adores this place and they are super patient with him so we come here every couple of months. It’s reasonable and comfortable and the food is OK. Just OK.

Apparently you need to specify that you’d like your ‘starter’ to come before your meal. Table of four adults waiting for an hour watching other tables around us receive bread, and appetizers. When asked why we didn’t receive bread or our appetizer, the kid waitress with facial piercings in an eating establishment, replies with«im working the whole bar hun, you don’t need to be rude mmkay». Exactly what I expected to hear, asked to see the manager. During the 20 min of waiting for a manager we asked the bartender for a receipt for the drinks we had in the mean time, when I walked back up to see the waitress talking shit to the bartender, with every drink we had previously ordered on the bar. Manager never came! HORRIBLE! STAYAWAY!

We have been wanting to try Jenny’s for a while now so when my husband noticed a Groupon we decided to purchase one. We were disappointed. Everything was just average to below average. Two positives were the service and the tomato bisque soup. The chicken and mushroom appetizer was overdone and the mushrooms were all dried out.

On a Friday evening, my hubby, daughter and I needed a quick bite to eat while my son was at a bowling party across the street. We had been to Jenny’s once before for steaks and were fairly satisfied. This time, we were only looking for sandwiches/salads and we were not disappointed. I had the blackening chicken salad and was pleased. The chicken had just enough spice to keep it interesting but without over-kill. After our first round of beverages(a beer each for me and hubby, a soda for my daughter), our waiter, Taylor, bought us a round just for the heck of it! No more sure fire way to a good review! Seriously, though, we really appreciated it! Our food was good and the bill was reasonable. It was exactly what we were looking for!

My father-in-law really likes this place so we come here often enough. The bruschetta appetizer is good and their food is decent. They try pretty hard and the servers work hard. But the food just isn’t inspired; especially the soups which are pretty thick and gloppy. But it makes my father in law happy so if you have an older relative to please, I recommend this place.

went here for a friend’s bridal party. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I entered b/c of the stuffed grizzly bear in the corner. I thought it was weird that there was only a handul of people in the place, considering it was a Sunday afternoon. The party was held in the upstairs banquet room which was the perfect size for the party. The food was pretty bland and dare I say, outdated. I had their version of pasta primavera, but it only had green peppers, onions, tomatoes and NO flavor. The bread was over toasted and hard and they served sherbet. Who still serves sherbet? I haven’t had sherbet since 1994. Thankfully t was there for my friend and not the food. This place is a definite no go.

In the mood for bland and underwhelming fare? Jenny’s Steakhouse has you covered. It’s pretty easy to fuck up a steak. It’s even easier to fuck up a steak that runs you $ 20 and tastes like it was prepared on a George Foreman grill(and even those taste better than what my boyfriend and I had tonight!) From reading the Unilocal reviews, the majority seemed to lean toward the positive. Um, not so much… The restaurant’s interior is rather… stodgy. If they were going for, what I believe, a Victorian look, they failed miserably. Brown wood overtones and blue wallpaper made the place feel more like a funeral home than eating establishment. Add to that, the central air must have been either not working well or broken altogether, making it warm and stuffy. We started off with the warm bread and bruschetta. Immediately, you can tell that it came from out of a jar. No flavor or hint of freshness. Next came the appetizer, a double combo of fried mozz sticks and mushrooms. Both were soggy, not crispy or crunchy at all. Worse offense: they were bland. My boyfriend and I looked at each other with a bit of hesitation and I was already anticipating the worse but held my tongue. Next up were our salads. Not only were they woefully unimpressive but tasted like they were out of a bag. I know iceberg lettuce is standard fare for a house salad but most steakhouses go through the trouble of using, oh, fresh produce for it. I had bleu cheese dressing, the bf balsamic vinaigrette. Mine tasted like it just had bleu cheese crumbles sprinkled on top of a ranch dressing. Not cool. My boyfriend’s dressing came in a small plastic dipping cup, just barely enough to cover the salad. Double not cool! Finally, our steaks came, I had the 8oz. butt steak, the signature filet with bleu cheese & garlic for the bf. Before I started into the steak, I dug into my side, which was the twice-baked potato. One bite was all it took for me to decipher the obvious: that it wasn’t prepared from scratch but from(yet again) a frozen package. Meanwhile, my boyfriend’s «steak fries» were not only soggy but tasted as if they weren’t even fried! It hardly bodes well when you haven’t even cut into your steaks to realize that your dinner is turning to shit fast and with lightning speed. By this time, I was already over it and done. My steak just solidified the mediocrity that was throughout the whole meal. Again, bland beyond belief. Sure, they got both our steaks rare but that’s where the success ends! No seasoning, no char, not even a hint of grilling expertise to be had. My boyfriend’s steak with its bleu cheese and garlic got it half right: we tasted the cheese but there wasn’t a bit of garlic in the two bites I took or while he continued(reluctantly)to eat. I took about 4 bites of my tasteless butt steak before I put my silverware down and pushed the plate away. I’d been starving all day and the only thing I could think of was«How fucking fast can I get out of here to get a decent meal!» It’s bad news when one has to ask the waitress for A1 Sauce to make your steak taste palatable. My boyfriend finished his but he also agreed the entire meal was a clusterfuck. When asked how the food was by our waitress, I kept quiet while my boyfriend politely lied and said things were ok. They so fucking weren’t «ok». I don’t think I’ve ever had a more miserable dinner in recent memory. The saving grace and only good thing from the whole experience was the dessert, an apple strudel ice cream something or other that while was, most likely, a microwaved affair, wasn’t half bad, overall. To summarize: the food is super bland. All of it. Zero flavor. Steaks are moderately priced but haven’t an ounce of seasoning and aren’t even grilled so much as broiled. Apps that are meant to be fried just seem to be microwaved. Side dishes and salads are either out of a frozen package or, pre-bagged affairs that the chefs don’t even bother to try and hide. Obviously, we won’t be returning and will tell our friends to avoid this place.

This review is for the banquet facilities only. Jenny’s Steakhouse was the chosen location for a luncheon. Since it was a pre-planned menu and family-style service at a steakhouse, I figured it would be slim pickings for a non-meat eater like me and I was right(for this they lose no stars). The banquet room, on the second floor, is pretty nice. I would guess it seats 75 – 100; the room has a built-in dancefloor too, which we weren’t there to use. There’s a small coat room, bar and bathrooms there too. My two biggest complaints about the space were(1) the acoustics and(2) the bathrooms. We were a pretty subdued group, but the noise in there was deafening, I left with both a headache and sore throat. I can’t speak for the men’s room, but the ladies room was the room heat forgot; there was some loud motor sound in the ladies, but whatever it was from it was not a heating device. To eat we were served minestrone soup, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried chicken, green beans, rigatoni with tomato sauce and sausage; rainbow sherbet was for dessert. The website features a funeral luncheon menu, apparently this was Express Luncheon option. Overall, the portions we were given were very skimpy. Our table was set for 8, but there were only 7 of us; considering I only ate potatoes(sans gravy) and green beans it was really more like 6. We ran out of most items before they made it around the table and had to hunt down the elusive servers for more; when we caught one they seemed reluctant to do us a solid and generally not overly friendly. The soup was served in these heavy metal pots, the size of a medium stock pot, and left for the table to ladle their own cups. In my opinion this is a bad idea all around. First, the pots were heavy, making it difficult to pass; after a few tries we ended up filling cups and passing them around. Second, the ladles were really big making it hard not to spill. Lastly, everyone complained that the soup wasn’t very hot. The highlight of the meal for the meat eaters seemed to be the chicken, everyone commented that it was really good and moist; the rest of the food was pretty immemorable. I’m not sure if they closed the place because of the lunch, but the main floor looked completely devoid of people when we arrived around lunch time and left a few hours later. Bottom line: I can’t see myself recommending this to anyone as a destination; it wasn’t great, it wasn’t terrible, it was simply forgettable.

I am a local, and the locals know to skip Jennys. Try the original on 111th. The food is mediocre at best. This has been several other «steak houses» over the years and they all share the same thing in common, bad food. Skip it and head down a block to Francescas.

It’s Friday and the last day(weekends don’t count) of our vacation. My wife and I decide to skip our usual Check Please restaurant(you know they still have not called me to have me review Home Run Inn on the Check Please show this year, I know I would be great) and try a local spot. Well our youngest daughter gave us an Entertainment 2010 book(good cause, her ROTC Drill team) for the Chicago area. We see Jenny’s Steakhouse in Frankfort and decide to try it out. Well we start off with the crusty bread and bruschatta(I know I need to get that dictionary, I think it’s close though) and it was pretty good. Only three slices of bread though so we have to ask for more. We received a second serving of the bread. For our main course I ordered the 8 ounce Filet with veggies and for my soup, a cream of spinach. The steak had the special Jenny’s butter sauce. It was pretty good. The veggies were fresh and the soup was tasty. Maria ordered the fish plate which had, Perch, Shrimp, Salmon Patty, veggies and she also received the spinach soup. Maria thought everything was bland tasting except for the Shrimp which she said had a nice crusty breading on it. She gave me a taste and I would have to agree with her on everything. During this whole meal we told our waitress, who was very friendly, that we had the Entertainment book card for a $ 10 dollar discount on a $ 30 dollar order. She was not aware of this and said she would speak with her boss and see if it was ok. Well we went through the entire meal and at one point I even had to go out to our car to get the book to show them the page they were on before they finally decided that yes they would honor the discount that they must have agreed to at some point with the Entertainment guide people. So our overall bill was $ 38 dollars but we received the $ 10 dollar off discount so it was roughly $ 28 dollars. The food was average and the service was nice. Will we go back, probably not, but it was nice to try a local place.

I feel like a prospector sometimes, panning for gold on the southside, looking for nuggets. I love places that have that intangible lure that makes you want to check it out again. Jenny’s steakhouse is the kind of place that gives you 2 choices, eat more or drink more. On a saturday night I tend to want to drink more than eat. The beer selection was full of the standard default brews but they had a number of taps that had the import and good domestic available. I live for good beer and tried most of what they had. I went with a friend and we had the burgers with the homemade potato chips. The burgers were big and juicy done to my liking and the chips were crisp and delicious. They people at Jenny’s are one of the reasons I will come back. I think they have the neighborhood bar feel that makes you want to visit again. Our barmaid/waitress was fun and funny with a down to Earth way about her. I want to go back, not necessarily for the steak, but the other menu options seem to have fans. The next time I am visiting my friend I look forward to try some more.

I have had three lunches at Jenny’s, each satisfying but none were outstanding. While I am sure they collect more customers around the dinner hour, their lunch crowd is bleak. It is one of those cases of «I’m not sure which came first» — Did the fact that they have one waitress that is too busy taking smoke breaks to wait on her one table lead to the limited lunchtime customers? Or does she did they give the crappy shift to the slacker waitress? Hmmm, I shall ponder. The food is their saving grace. The bread is warm and delicious. All three entrée selections I have had were good. Twice, I tried salads. They were large in size but made with very fresh produce. The chicken I ordered on my third visit was very well cooked. Moist and full of flavor, my son wanted more of what I had on my plate than the food I ordered for him.

Had an awesome steak here tonight that was thick(of the tall variety), juicy, and perfectly cooked(I can tell by the way it jiggles when i tap it with my fork! I like them red!) It was the Jenny’s Filet to be exact. Came with a garlic blue cheese topping that was a nice accent flavor… If it were my kitchen, id litghten up on the garlic paste and turn it into a blue cheese crusted filet in the broiler(sorry my inner self wants to be a chef) Either way, it was goooooood. The oxtail soup is really good too, it comes on the bone, but dont worry, it falls right off when you touch it! I commend the chefs for attempting a dish that some patrons would shun(due to its name or preconceived notions about humans not having tails on their menu) but carrying on anyways because no matter what some think, its extremely tender and tasty! Enjoyed fried calamari for an appetizer, which was the largest pieces of squid and octi’s ive seen on a plate yet. My mom’s scallops were also the largest i’ve seen, seasoned nicely and rather tasty. However, the ribs looked alittle… eh. And the perch came out in little deep fried strips. When you see perch on a menu you expect… a filet! Maybe it has to be cooked that way because of bones? Other than a few kinks in these dishes, most of the stuff was pretty darn good. The staff was alittle slow, but it was a friday night, and i actually enjoyed spending the wait chatting with my family. The place is cute and has very reasonable prices. Oh, and the waiters are pretty cute too! I took my family to this restaurant tonight because i live in the city, i love food, and when i come home to the southwest suburbs im hard pressed to find a place that is worth going out to. All have the same ordinary menus with the same safe food. Jenny’s provides a menu with a unique spin that drew me in. I hope this place does well considering the fate of restaurants in the area. However, I think they should take away the title«Hoffbrau,» since locals are very familiar with german food(having Klaus in the area) and can become dissapointed when they are expecting German fare. American items dominate, Italian coming in next, and just a German dish here and there is the reality. And one more thing, not to exploit the rights of the supernatural… but this historic location also happens to be haunted! If you believe in that sort of thing.
