Is this the worst bank ever? Yes.
Did they give me three, count them– THREE messed up ATM cards that didn’t work & were «confiscated» by every machine they were put in? Yes.
Did they make jokes about the above; including one teller saying «if this card doesn’t work, you can just use my f — king card»? Yes.
Did they sign me up for things (insurance, etc) that took money out of my account every month that I did not give them permission to do? Yes.
Did they give me a hard time about closing my account? Yes.
Did they totally screw me numerous times (and not in a good way)? Yes.
Have they been doing the same to my 75 year old aunt & sick uncle? Yes.
Have they been doing it to my dad? Yes.
Before I continue– I’m the kind of person who HATES all banks & financial institutions. I wish I could take all my money & just keep it in a shoebox under my bed, but that just isn’t practical in this day & age, sadly. However since I do realize that is not the way things are done, I need a bank, and this was the first one I ever had an account at. On that same note, I’m the only one out of the three people in my family who had accounts at this bank to have the time/​good sense/​interest to leave, and boy am I glad I did. My aunt couldn’t access her account online for days at a time, and my uncle is a dialysis patient with dementia who can’t be left alone, so she couldn’t just run out to the ATM. They said it was being fixed and it lingered for over a week. Same thing with my dad. Also, the people working there just don’t care. They brush off your concerns as if it doesn’t matter to them. Which I’m sure it doesn’t– but they’re getting paid to pretend to give a shit & try to help.
The only reason why they even have a star is because I can’t give a 0. And let me just say, it’s not just this branch that sucks– it’s ALL Astoria’s. I’d say that they’ve probably gotten better since I closed my account a long time ago, but no. My family members STILL use them (mainly because according to them it’s easier to just stick with it as opposed to changing all the direct deposit info, payments taken out, etc) I now have Chase, which is way better in all aspects. And again, let me reiterate: I hate ALL banks, so that’s saying something.

This location has a drive-​thru teller. Yesss! I just wish there was a drive-​thru ATM. Boo.
