Hof-Brau Bar

Been here a few times, never had an issue till last night. The owner decided to say something to us about the shuffle board table not scoring (mind you we play it every time we are there and it has never worked) so my friend politely told him that it hasn’t ever worked when we were there. He blew up on her screaming calling her a F***ing B**** and told all of us to leave. Mind you there was a whole party of us there that had spent a well over $ 1,000 yesterday in the bar. Very unprofessional, will never come back and I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear.

I love this place! It’s like a time warp with alcohol! The food is bar food and delicious. It’s a great neighborhood bar

Nice place to go for a drink… I hear the food is good. But have not tried myself, has that hometown atmosphere where everyone knows everyone. Then again it is in FRASER. Seems like a good place to have a 40+ birthday party. Waitresses are very friendly and make sure you don’t go dry.

I have been to this establishment a few times. Each time was exponentially displeasing. But this last time was the last time. The only good thing about this place is that the beer is cheap. That’s it, we’re done with the pros. On to the negatives.
First off, the last time someone did any sort of remodeling or decorating must have been when Nixon was in office. This place looks like your grandmother’s finished basement with all that wood paneling. The bathrooms are disgusting and all trashy. Why do they have a urinal in the women’s room. WHY?! This place is dirty. Dives are cool and whatever, but this place is gross. The kind of gross you like after you wash your hands and they feel dirtier than before. But I can handle that. I am Ok with that. It’s the awful service that really hurts me here.
Miriam Webster would be upset with me for using the term «service» in this situation, because there was clearly no hint of comprehension of it’s definition at this place. There were no more than 15 people in this hell hole, and the server somehow made me feel like we weren’t even there. I felt as if I was on another plane of existence and she was unaware of my being. I was a ghost. I stared at the empty glass in front of me and then watched her at the end of the bar play with her phone. I understand. You don’t want to be there either, I get that. But you can post your selfies to Instagram when I’m good and drunk and no longer in need of another hot beer. Seriously, did you microwave my beer. I had to blow on it to cool it down. And then when I finally do get my drink, it’s practically thrown at me. Sorry to bother you, miss, I know your Twitter feed is blowing up with #RealTalk, but that’s uncalled for.
I understand why there was nobody in there on a Saturday night. This place was deplorable. I feel bad about being so negative to a business that’s trying to make it, but this was ridiculous.

Good food, but slow and need to hire friendly people!!! Mushroom Burger is top shelf, servers bottom shelf!!!
You still gotta try the burger no matter how many bad reviews!!! Owner needs to read the reviews. Hand cut fries are great too!

So, SO annoyed.
— The kitchen has gone to hell, apparently.
— The burgers sucked.
— The fries were fried in, I’m guessing, like eight week old oil.
— Our waitress was, I hope for her sake so that she has an excuse, hammered. At 6pm.
I’m…irritated. I used to love this place. Now… it might be a pop-​in place for cheap drinks, but I doubt that’ll happen. I hate being disappointed in a place I used to really like.

This is my favorite bar in the entire world.
It’s quiet, full of local drunks, the drinks are VERY reasonable, and they have a killer jukebox in the back (which is surrounded by pool tables).
Every time I am in town I make it a point to stop in and have a drink and snack on a couple of appetizers.
If you haven’t been here yet, go — immediately.

So it’s the biggest bar night of the year and I’m thinking of just hunkering down at home and playing it safe. Nope, not what my friends have in mind, however they suggest visiting this classic bar that’s been around for quite sometime but I’ve never visited. I agree and much to my surprise… I may have found a new favorite place to chill. If your looking for a place with great service from the servers, drinks that are plentiful and reasonably priced with some delicous food to boot this is the place. I am not a fan of a bar if the music is so loud that the friends I came to visit with have to shout across the table just to communicate but this place seem to be able to understand that and played the music at just the right volume. For the sports fans there were tv’s conveniently placed throughout the place. This dwelling was definitely a place that appeals to all. Definitely will be back. Oh yes… tried the chicken tenders, spicy cheese balls, and their pizza was kickin good.

It’s a very nice local bar. The pizza and garlic bread were great! Well stock bar. I loved that the TVs and music weren’t screaming loud. You can hold a conversation with the people at your table with out any trouble.

We were not happy here. My wife and I had to leave. Like others mentioned, it appeared our server (also the barmaid) was drunk. Waited what seemed to be 10 minutes for our first drink order and only 2 other people were in there. She was BS’g with one of them while we waited and waited! Add rude to it and it was just a sad experience. Why does the owner let them drink that much alcohol on the job??? She was bumping into the chairs and the bar like a pinball. We both ordered burgers and managed to eat half before we stood up and left a $ 20 bill on the table (our tab was around $ 15, we just wanted out the door bad) and walked out the door. The burgers were fresh and did taste good though I admit. It was just the horrible service!!! I used to go here years ago when a girl named Mary was there. Great service back then. She is gone and the girl we had… well I think I said enough already and made my point.
Good luck if you try this place. Maybe you will get lucky and have a different bar maid than us.

The burgers were great! The French onion soup was great! But… It took 45 min to get both of them at the same time! Although what we ordered was what we wanted what we got was not the same and the server condescendingly told us SHE was right. And… Our server was drunk, not just a little either. So if you want a good burger but don’t care what kind it is, swing by for a shitty attitude and a good burger.
Ill be back when I am not in a rush.

I just moved to the Fraser area and have been looking for some good local restaurants. After reviewing Unilocal,Hof Brau intrigued me; dark, a little dated, cozy, and Best. Bar. Burger. who can turn that down?! My boyfriend, his parents, and I decided to give it a try. The important thing to point our first is the food really was fantastic. We all ordered burgers, delicious. We also tried the French onion soup, very tasty. The problem is, our server was a little out if sorts. (Drunk) She came to the table right away to take our drink order. Three of us ordered beers, my boyfriends mom wanted a glass of wine. She didn’t expect much but the server told her that they only have boxed wine, ok no big deal, it’s a burger/​beer joint (but please don’t touch the top of my beer bottles because you are too drunk to hold in to them). We then began ordering our food, now we get to the exciting part. The server wrote everything down with the paper on the table so we know she heard everything. 30 mins later, we get three of the four burgers ordered, still no soup. Our soup came out a little later. When we mentioned that our soup wasn’t at the table yet, the server acted like it was normal. We asked about the missing burger and come to find out it was never ordered so if course, we reordered. When it finally showed up, after the rest of the table was finished eating, it was the wrong burger. We mentioned this to the server and she proceeded to argue with us saying that we ordered something else.
To wrap this up, horrible service!!!
The food is great but if they don’t clean house soon, I don’t think they will be seeing too many more dinner rushes.

Well, I tried this place based solely on the Unilocal reviews. It seemed only right since I LIVE in Fraser and have never tried this place.
My best friend and I went there a few days ago. It was dark and extremely slow.
We grabbed a table and were promptly ignored. We sat there 10 minutes before anyone approached us. Not a great start.
Our waitress was — well, low brow to say the least. I do believe she may have had just a few too many.
On to the food. The burger was good. It was big! It was juicy. But it wasn’t really THAT special. Don’t get me wrong. It was a «B» or «B+» burger. Certainnly not bad.
We had the fresh cut fries. They were burned in a big way. Also, they tasted pretty bad and it was obvious that they were fried in extremely old, burned oil. YUCK.
Overall, the place was just blah. It was old, boring and dull and had very little business. The burger was good, but not the BEST BAR BURGER.
I probably won’t go back. There are just too many choices. Kavan’s is pretty close by and has a better burger and better atmosphere!

very good food, dark atmosphere which is my favorite… reminds of my favorite lounge from the 70’s…if was alive in the early 70’s, lol. free pool on tuesdays and only a quarter mile from home so if i had to walk it wouldnt be a problem.2 thumbs up from this hillbilly pollock.

The absolute best bar burger in town. I have been on a year long search for the best bar burger in town. I thought it was Millers in Dearborn. But no, I have found it. Its the Hofbrau. It is by far the best bar burger in town. Good atmosphere, friendly waitstaff. A great place to go. I will be back often.
