Business Owner

Monica and Marc opened Monarc Ranch in 2003. A Bed and Breakfast was the perfect way to unite their dreams of family, friendships, travel, cooking and living in the country. After extensive renovations to the ranch’s cottages, Monarc Ranch was born. Monic and Marc enjoy being able to serve the public at Monarc Ranch, where providing our guests with a relaxing, secluded retreat is the driving force of the business. We keep returning to our second home away from home for over ten years! We come back because of the wonderful property and hosts. Every time we come by ourself, with family or friends we are never disappointed. Great accommodations in and out and wonderful breakfasts and treats. They always make us feel as we are family. I stayed at Among the Texas Stars and it was a lovely experience.
First, the outdoor space is simply incredible. There are horses and cows on the property, along with deer that you can see in the background. I also saw lots of beautiful birds while I was there. And there were some very cute kitties running around, as well.
Monica has set up lots of wonderful treats in the outdoor space, as well. There’s a private hot tub for each unit, there are numerous lawn games (moveable disc golf baskets, horseshoes, etc.), a hammock, and a fire pit. We lit fires and roasted marshmallows several nights, which was lovely. And the stars! They aren’t kidding — if you’re lucky enough to have a clear night, the stars are unbelievable.
The inside of Among the Texas Stars is probably too small for anything more than two adults, but is comfortable for two. Do note that there is nowhere to put your clothing or luggage, so you may want to pack on the light side. The inside of the cottage is very cute and comfortable. There are plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, etc. Monica also leaves wood and equipment for starting a fire in the outdoor fire pit.
The treats left by Monica were absolutely delicious! The cinnamon rolls and coffee cake were phenomenal! She also left eggs, milk, cereal, and several other treats.
I’m not sure what happened with other guest with the gate — it wasn’t hard to use or to get in and out of. I also didn’t have any problems with checking out, or leaving the place clean. So please don’t let the single negative review dissuade you from coming here — so long as you’re a grown up who can pick up after yourself, you shouldn’t have a problem.
One thing to note: it is hard to find the cottage in the dark. Try to arrive before dark, so you don’t struggle to see it! If you do arrive after dark, note that you have to drive about 500‑1000 feet onto the property to find it (it isn’t the cottage right after you go through the gate).
All in all, I really enjoyed the ranch, and will definitely be back.

This is a review of «Among the Texas Stars» cabin at the B&B, a fantastic place for a quiet, rustic get away with a few friends, a small family, or as a romantic event.
Be warned, _rustic_is the key word.
And as fro me, I loved that about the place.
This is not a carefully renovated and modernized suite with granite kitchens and stainless stoves and on and on. You will need to know what you’re doing if you plan to (a) cook on premises (b) have a fire on premises or © walk around and not track cow plop, sticky burs or ash into the house. Plumbing in these environments is delicate. If you’ve ever been in a rural setting before, you already know that. Plan accordingly. Bring lots of layers. The space heater means well, but stone walls and stone floors are what they are.
Apparently the other spaces are much larger and more modern (see comment below from owner), but given the overall location I would still recommend that if you don’t know the distinction between «having a good time» and «partying», then Monarc may not really be what you’re looking for.
That being said, the hot tub kept itself, quietly, at 100 degrees all weekend (despite big temp swings from 40 to 70). The pastry provided as our breakfasts was some of the most refined and delicious I’ve ever had. A great many lawn game activities (from horse shoes to a hammock to disc golf baskets) have been provided to keep you entertained if the five barn cats begging ’round the door don’t do it for you and the grounds of the ranch itself are rambling enough to allow for many a long walk.
While Monarc Ranch is at odds with the amusing attempts at Tuscan chic one will find out on highway 290, I think that’s a good thing — unless you’re one of the people who are in town for the Tuscan chic I guess. Which, by the way, would turn an actual Tuscan the same shade as the terra cotta roof tiles, so do try not to take it too seriously while you’re there.
I highly recommend talking to the ponies, the calves, the deer, the good folks at Grape Creek Vineyards and pretty much no one else.

Great Experience, just far enough from town to enjoy the setting.
I stayed at Texas Star on this trip and Among the Crêpe Myrtles on one just before. I can’t thank the Monarc Ranch B&B’s enough for such a great experience. Clean, secluded, yet close enough to town to still be able to visit Main St. Truly a pleasant experience. Highly expect to return again soon, and I know I’ll be recommending to friends and family as well!

We booked Monarc Ranch for my bachelorette party. First it was hard to find. The address given took us to Luckenbach. We had to call and another address was given so we could find the ranch. Our first night we enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was good, we left Saturday and enjoyed a day of shopping. When we returned that gate was open and as we drove through it closed and scratched our car. It was a gate malfunction. We let Monica know and she just said she checked the gate and didn’t take responsibility for the scratch. I will be contacting her insurance for the damage. During our stay one of the toilets got clogged, the heat quit working on our second night. The water heater also broke and we had no hot water for showers on Sunday. Our nice stay turned into a miserable stay. We picked everything up on Sunday ands after we left she sent us a message saying «that the house was left in a very big mess, and it smelt like vomit». First, we left the house in good shape. We even put all the towels in a pile and took the trash out. We picked up all of our drinks, cups, and food. Someone especially didn’t vomit in the house, outside of the house, or even during our weekend adventure. Our card was charged a $ 50 cleaning fee which was not discussed. After paying $ 800 for our stay, which was completely over priced for the accommodations, facilities, and treatment by Monica who refused to take our calls and hung up on us multiple times after trying to discuss our issues with the stay. Her unprofessional manner and rude behavior is not that of a business owner. This is why I have given Monarch 1 star.
