History
Established in 1989.
The Kendall Tavern Inn B&B property’s history dates from around 1800. The house was here from 1801 and in 1832 Captain Robert Kendall, who served in the War of 1812, bought it with 50 acres. There are records that show that provisions were bought for the tavern during this time. Several descendants inherited the house through the years, including Captain John Kendall, who served in the Civil War. Around 1894 the second floor and attic were added.
The Albert Pratt family bought the home and farm and kept it through descendent Helen Clarkson’s death in 1989. That year California lawyer Hermon Pettigrove and his wife bought the farm to create a bed and breakfast. The Kendall Tavern Inn has been run since that time as a Bed and Breakfast, and is currently owned by Nancy Kieran and Mark Provost.
