Folks, I know I know, this review isn’t anything like my other super radical awesome sauce reviews. This is serious though, and a bit of a coming of age tale.
I just want to say my entire life, I have been told that I was that funny guy in the classroom who was always bored, could never really sit still or focus. I was energetic, and filled with charisma that made lots of my peers kind of jealous I could be so carefree when I spoke to people on a social level and just approach guys and girls of different groups and cliques, these qualities naturally made me popular in school.
Most of you on Unilocal who are friends of mine in real life know this. More often than not, I was a bit of a organized mess if that makes any sense, I could rarely stay motivated when it came to topics i had 0 interest in, but would just crush my classes I did love and would usually get A’s. I didn’t know I was any different than any other teen when it came to school. Many people seemed to not like school or pay attention either, its portrayed on TV, its displayed in person through other classmates behavior. I got good grades, but I would cut all the classes that didn’t interest me. Math in particular gave me tons of anxiety, ones I couldn’t explain. I just felt like a super idiot when math rolled along.
Once out of high school, I got to pursue things I really cared about, and I would excel in those areas I cared about most. I feel I was a lucky person to find myself in a career (Video Game Quality Assurance) that was rarely boring, Socially involved and dynamically evolving /​changing various processes to keep it always interesting and fresh to me. I then got promoted outside of my standard job, to a more management level role. Things started to decline, I didn’t think it was as bad at first, until I found myself at a company that had me handle very important critical tasks. I found myself instead of focusing on the task at hand, straying often, escaping it often, procrastinating actively while I stared at my task and time fade. This of course began to reflect negatively on what I could produce and my career. I decided maybe I should talk to someone, everyone used to tell me that I would get distracted often in the middle of 1 on 1 conversations, and might have attention span issues. I heard it all the time in life, I never really sat down and questioned it, just lived with it.
I then found Dr. Pan and her group. Her staff was really welcoming, It was also very cozy and well lit. We had a short orientation, talked about my background, she then suggested I take the ADHD test. I spent 5 hours in the office taking the test. It was very thorough and it did invoke anxiety when I took the math parts. The staff was very patient with me, and assured me I was doing fine and that I should just try my best. I did.
I then came in for the follow up Appointment for my results. She broke it down for me, how I handled everything mentally, right down to my tendencies. I never thought someone could know so much about me in such short time. The results showed I had all the symptoms of a adult with adhd, which was very likely something I’ve always had since childhood. My world started to make complete sense to me. She gave me a great selection of resources and community groups I could get more information from to help me with this newly diagnosed condition.
I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude to the service Dr. Pan has offered me and how much she has truly changed my life. I did follow up with a psychiatrist she referred me to. I am now on a light medication schedule, but I only take it during work hours to roll up my sleeves and crush my workloads and not on the weekends so I can still be Old Me. I am just on Fire now in the office and it shows on the results I produce, I also have noticed my relationship has improved, my mental clarity and appearance is improving, because now I also exercise more often thanks to the recommendations Dr. Pan gave me and eat proper supplements that assist with brain function.
Dr.Pan, I am absolutely appreciative of the services you offer and highly recommend those who need a kind, caring person to help you figure you out as a person and how to improve upon yourself with lots of options. NorCal, She’s a Keeper ;) don’t let her go back to SoCal.
