It’s so nice to be on the same page with others. The office staff at Dr. Lum’s office are pitiful. They are rude, nasty, unhelpful and utterly useless. It amazes me that Dr. Lum is so out of touch with his own employees that he is unaware of how terrible they really are.
BTW: Just because you look in the mirror every morning and are disgusted by what you see, doesn’t give you the right to take it out on us.

My children have been going to Dr. Robert Lum for about 12 years now. Although it’s not a kid-​oriented office and, the front office staff are more on the professional-​side, what I appreciate is that he does what needs to be done and does not ever recommend more (unless absolutely necessary). Our past dentists always did, and it became hard to discern what was necessary and what they wanted to do for profit. So, I trust Dr. Lum, and he’s got a good demeanor with the kids. We rarely have a wait in the waiting room and, the front desk is very good at keeping up with our insurance.

I had an exam done last year with Dr. Lum. The experience was pleasant and smooth.
So I decide to bring my 4 years old daughter in for the check up. First, the front desk staffs are giving me the attitude that I need to confirm my daughter’s dental insurance eligibility before we set the appointment. I know she her last dental visit was over a year ago. But is this their responsibility they need to find out the insurance before our appointment? Anyway, I told her I will pay out of pocket if the insurance doesn’t cover for the office visit. Finally, she let me keep the appointment.
Afterward, I made an appointment for myself. However, because of the emergency from work, I had to call to cancel my appointment on the same day notice. It is the FRONT DESK STAFFS again, she wanted to charge me last minute cancellation fee. I explained I am sorry for the late notice because I need to get back to the office and I won’t be able to return on time for the appointment. I would like to re-​schedule to other time. She insisted this is the office policy that they are required to charge THE FEE. I said… other office will usually do this one time exception… for their patient for the first time. She insisted… either pay the FEE or cannot go back to their office anymore.
PLEASE THINK AND THINK BEFORE YOU MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THIS OFFICE.
The FRONT DESK STAFFS are rude and stubborn.
THEY ARE NOT FRIENDLY, NOT FLEXIBLE, NOT WILLING TO HELP!!! I will not recommend anyone to this office.

Dr. Lum will make sure you leave the place with squeaky clean teeth & breath!
I have been going to Dr. Lum for over 8 years now and very happy with his cleaning. He is very professional yet personable (which make those progress report on your cleaning moments less awkward)!
Don’t be shy about asking questions, he is very knowledgeable and provide the best solution to suit your preference/​needs.
Bonus: **USEFUL** freebies are given after each visit!
–1 star for calling with a BLOCKED number for appointment confirmations. Would be nice to know they are calling, so I would pick up the first time instead of playing phone tag.

So I had an appointment today and had to cancel because I had to come in to work, which was unplanned. I called to cancel and was told by a receptionist that I would be charged a $ 35 cancellation fee which I had no idea about. Unfortunately, I really like Dr. Lum, but the front office staff is not very friendly and rude to say the least. Oh well, looks like I’ll be shopping around for a new Dentist office.

I have been seeing Dr. Karl for more than 15 years and he is a really thorough dentist… his cleanings are also extremely detailed and I look forward to going to see him! Additionally, my eldest child who is 4 ½ yrs old, also goes to him now and he is even very child-​friendly. My husband also goes to him as well and both of us have nothing but great things to say about our cleaning every 6 months. Thank you for continuining to provide great service to your patients.

Just a side note. My Dog has a vet appointment on MOnday., the vet called today to confirm. It seems like everyone but Dr. Lums calls to confirm an appoitment.
